In the beginning it was easy, but over the years it has been like trying to find a needle in a haystack. Very difficult. I spent over 30 minutes just trying to send a request because I found an item I purchase often wasn’t linked to a store for redemption. Scrolling through the offer I didn’t see a link to HEB, Target, CVS or even Walmart. I clicked submit a ticket but kept getting thrown to the AI help “Carlotta” and it was no help at all. Even a simple request to “Send link to submit new help ticket” was an issue. I get that they want to reduce calling in - but send a help ticket shouldn’t be so hard. ### 2/5 — It’s ok until you have a issue *2026-08-13, version 6.349.0* It’s ok until you have an issue. It’s challenging to get to customer service, you have a go through a bot first. A lot of things that are listed as cash back eligible, you never get the cash back, and when submitting a request to review your receipt, an AI chat bot just denies your request and you never get your cash back. I’d call the is app the S word, but my review will be blocked. Would not recommend. It’ll allow you to get the first few payouts which are minimal (a few cents) but when you start getting the achievements that pay out a little more (a couple dollars so still not much) it won’t give them to you. When you contact support, they’ll just say you violated some rule but won’t tell you what rule or how and that you can’t get the “reward”. There is no customer service number. The AI chat makes no sense. I would confidently say this is a scam. I would assume the 5 star reviews are all from bots. And the costumer service is just sending you the same automated message over and over again. ### 1/5 — Horrible Scam *2026-08-13, version 6.349.0* I was thinking this app was going to be an awesome way to earn extra cash with the economy in such a bad spot, but I was wrong! For several weeks I was submitting all my receipts plus the receipts all my family and friends would give me. Once I reached about $60 i tried to cash out just for them to deny it and close my account. They didn’t give me a reason despite me reaching out to support and asking what i did wrong. The part that I find disturbing is that I had reached out to support a few times during my receipt submission and they would fix the issue to have me continue submitting receipts because they were getting paid for the receipts, they didn’t have an issue or tell me I was doing something wrong. They waited until I tried to cashout to then just simply close my account and not pay me what I was owed. To this day I still have no idea what I did wrong so I believe they are just scamming people. ### 1/5 — Not What it Once Was *2026-08-12, version 6.349.0* I have been using ibotta for nearly a decade now, and have made well over $500 in cash back. Nearly all of that was in the first 4-5 years. It is a disappointing waste of your time now. Do you enjoy expecting cash back, only to find that you bought the 9 oz product, not the 10 oz ONLY that is required? How about scrolling through hundreds of coupons, where most of them are just repeats? How about looking at endless coupons for your favorite store, knowing full well that most of the products are not even sold there? Do you like taking multiple photos of your receipt, only to have to take them all over because ibotta can’t read them? On top of all this, they will start charging you inactivity fees after 6 months. I’ve had ibotta since 2020 and I’m deleting the app. The customer service has gone sooooo down since when I first joined. I reached out for help and two agents later I’ve gotten zero answers and the same automated response. It’s $0.50… seriously ibotta?!? I’m supposed to get $.35 back on Any Brand Table Grapes. The system isn’t recognizing it. The Help Center wants a barcode, but there isn’t one. I can’t find anything matching my problem in the Help Center, and I’m unable to find a way to contact Ibotta, including not being able to find a Customer Service phone number. You only have 2 options… link it to your bank card/wm account OR scan the tc# and it rarely reads the number. When you enter it manually it says the receipt don’t exist. It will not let you photograph a walmart receipt like other retailers! However, Also when you do ones from others more often then not you get told your product dont qualify even though you matched the barcodes via the app numerous times! You collect interest. The fee is just excessive greed from the company. I had scanned receipts 7/1 cause I was restarting using the app and then got charged a fee 7/12. I guess I should have scanned each barcode in store but the flavor should not matter..
