### 2/5 — Has some advantages/some problems

*2026-06-29, version 9.5.0*

My two complaints deal with reliability. I don’t know who coded it, but I have switched momentarily to another app and back, and iBreviary will say “Loading” for two minutes. What the heck are you loading? I was just using it.

Second, sometimes the words are just plain wrong (last week it changed “the foolish man cannot know this.” To “the stupid cannot know this.” I’ve never seen that particular translation. He also uses “inclusive” language which violates #22 on the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy. And sometimes nothing (or incomplete texts) download.

### 2/5 — Not working in original iPad Air

*2026-06-03, version 9.3.1*

It works for more recent iPad versions but stopped working in original iPad Air and will not update. Maybe the fault is with Apple but still it’s very disappointing.

### 2/5 — Often unusable

*2026-05-23, version 9.3.1*

Too many times lately I I’ve opened the app and tried to access the prayers, only to find a completely blank screen with nothing except the back button. It’s completely blank with no prayers loading. Resetting the app doesn’t fix it and resetting my phone doesn’t fix it. Please fix this. Ifs so annoying trying to do prayers only for the app to be broken. And nothing I tried fixes it except waiting it out until it’s magically fixed the next day.

### 2/5 — Download the Week Option

*2026-04-06, version 9.3.1*

Every time I download the week the app ceases to function. I really wish this would be fixed.

### 3/5 — Rites section is a mess

*2026-03-19, version 9.3.1*

No longer are rites available. Only masses are offered. There’s no rite of baptism of any kind. There is no rite of care for the sick. And there are no short blessings. Simply put there’s nothing but masses.

### 3/5 — 50/50

*2025-07-20, version 9.3.1*

Sometimes it works for me and other times not so much

### 4/5 — Difference

*2025-01-02, version 9.2.1*

Husband and I both have the same edition of the IBreviary. But for some reason this morning mine says ordinary day and my husband says Saint Basil the great and Gregory nausea and why is there a difference between the two programs on our iPads?

### 5/5 — Speed issues resolved almost entirely. Thank you!

*2024-12-26, version 9.2.1*

Really appreciate this app.

### 5/5 — Priceless

*2024-12-21, version 9.2.1*

On account of some cognitive problems, it's nearly impossible for me to navigate through the maze of the Breviary. For me, this is not a convenience, it's a necessity.
It works well, fast, and is easy to use. Five stars.

### 5/5 — IBreviary

*2024-11-03, version 8.0.3*

Wonderful

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-09-03, version 8.0.3*

I love the app and strongly recommend it. Will this ever be available for Mac laptops?

### 5/5 — Beautiful!

*2024-08-05, version 8.0.3*

Just gorgeous. My family uses this app for prayer instead of books, and we very much appreciate the effortless way of keeping pace with the liturgical year.

One question: could a future version include the option to hide the “Psalm Prayers”? Since those are optional for public recitation I just always scroll past them; it would be nice if this “optional” status could apply both to their recitation *and* their display.

### 4/5 — Great app. Issues with IOS on iPhone.

*2024-07-28, version 8.0.3*

I love this app and use it daily. Recently I have encountered an issue on my iPhone where the app doesn’t load the date and this the Liturgy of the Hours section is blank because it doesn’t have the day’s prayers populated. It works fine on my iPad. Thank you…God bless!!!

### 5/5 — Incredibly Useful

*2024-06-04, version 8.0.3*

iBreviary is the go-to app for priests looking to pray the Divine Office. The UI might take a minute to figure out, but the app is otherwise very clean and does exactly what you need it to. I’ve tried other apps, and this is the best one.

### 5/5 — Includes more than other apps

*2024-05-20, version 8.0.3*

I note especially the inclusion of ICEL’s brand-new translations of the Latin hymns proper to the Liturgy of the Hours – a true spiritual treasure formerly closed to those who could not understand Latin.

### 4/5 — i like it

*2024-05-04, version 8.0.3*

overall i like it, and i especially like the useful prayer resources!!! i like them so much, that i wish there was a save/love react feature to save some of the articles in your profile!

### 3/5 — Grear app when it works

*2024-03-24, version 8.0.3*

I love tuis app when it works. Recently after a few days or a week or two, when I open it, it shows no day information, and when I click on Liturgy of the hours or another item menu, it is completely blank. I try to close and reopen, but it never works after that. I need to delete the app and redownload. This is happening more frequently lately. Perhaps it is a sign of the suffering they are going through in Palestine and Israel. We must pray for them.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Definitely needs better code

*2026-08-28, version 9.6.0*

There are a few problems with this app. The first and most glaring, is the fact that the minute you launch it it spends 30 to 50 seconds in a “loading“ phase. There’s nothing for it to load, there’s been no request for anything new, it’s just poorly written, so it spends time doing something it doesn’t have to.

With all respect to the people who propagate the daily prayers and readings, they often make mistakes. Frequently, I have found there’s just no information.

Finally, in violation of number 22 of the constitution on the sacred liturgy, they changed the language.

It is good in a pinch, but if you want the daily readings and the daily office, and you want them in accordance with the mind of the church, this is not the app to use.

### 1/5 — Do not download! Does not work!

*2025-04-06, version 9.2.2*

I’m a first time user of this app and it doesn’t work on my iPhone 16 Pro Max (iOS v18.4). I tap on “Today” and it displays “Loading…”, goes away, and the current day’s title is displayed in the middle of the screen. No matter what I do I am unable to show that day’s content.

### 1/5 — It doesn’t

*2025-02-26, version 9.2.2*

It doesn’t work properly since it is very inconsistent with texts and words (specially in Spanish) that works not in Latin America. It sounds very inappropriate and even Protestant since it uses texts using the word “Jehova”. Pleas take care of that.

### 1/5 — Unusable on iOS 17

*2023-10-06, version 8.0.3*

Gives database error- unable to connect to server error. Unusable now.

### 1/5 — App is now useless!!! Please allow us to revert!!!

*2023-03-13, version 7.2.0*

I just updated the app after putting it off for a while and it was such a mistake!! I loved the old classic app, but now not only does it look terrible, it doesn’t even work! I tried opening the liturgy of the hours and usually that goes very quickly, but now I click on it and nothing happens at all!!

Please allow us to revert back to the old version of the app! Everything was perfectly fine until I updated it just now and I seriously regret it. This makes me incredibly upset!

### 1/5 — Martin

*2022-11-13, version 7.2.0*

The former version Was excellent. But this new version is five steps backwards in many ways
Automatic scrolling does not work properly. if you want to change the speed, the app shuts down. Also, the time from loading of a specific category lasts five seconds or more.

### 1/5 — Decent -

*2022-11-03*

I've been using ibreviary since its inception, first on an iPod touch more than five years ago. It's never perfect, but it has been very well done. I asked the to stop changing the breviary to add "inclusive" language some time ago. They did for a while, but it has returned. I think they're a little too interested in pushing their agenda through the app. #22 of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy says: Therefore no other person, even if he be a priest, may add, remove, or change anything in the liturgy on his own authority. And yet, he persists.

It’s also become slower and harder to use. Today, I couldn’t even scroll through options. I blamed the phone but after closing all apps and restarting the phone, it’s still not just slow but nearly unresponsive.

### 1/5 — Does not read to you even when pressing the volume. Glitch.

*2022-08-22, version 7.1.0*

Does not read to you even when pressing the volume. Glitch.

### 1/5 — Terrible Layout

*2022-06-03, version 7.1.0*

Very confusing and worthless layout.

The help is confusing and intimidating.
There are funny symbols everywhere and they don’t tell you what they are.
The layout of the readings themselves are so separate but still together in such a way that it is confusing to try to figure out how they want you to move through the readings. Example: They put the readings for three different times all together under the same tab and only have one verse separated and labeled for each time when everyone else has entire sections and paragraphs for each time.

### 1/5 — Slow to load…

*2022-02-21, version 7.1.0*

Needs to be more responsive. And less buggy. Thank you.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-07-16, version 9.5.0*

Use it daily for prayers, most often the Liturgy of the Hours, readings and meditation. I love that I can down load days or a full week when traveling so my prayer life won’t be disrupted.

Well done to the dev and support staff!

### 5/5 — Great new ui

*2026-06-06, version 9.5.0*

Thanks for the updated UI. I love that the settings no longer block the text. You make it possible to always be able to pray the breviary no matter where I am or when it is.

### 5/5 — Readings are missing

*2026-04-14, version 9.3.1*

What happened I can thee the readings of the day?

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2026-03-12, version 9.3.1*

My dad has been using this app since I was just understanding prayers as a catholic this is a no brainer to get!

### 5/5 — This app doesn’t work

*2026-03-06, version 9.3.1*

Nothing on this app works and it’s useless now. Extremely hard to navigate, and now u can’t get straight to the point of what ur looking for.

### 5/5 — First: Thank you, Second: some additions needed

*2026-02-02, version 9.3.1*

Prompt in Evening prayer for the Marian Antiphon Ave Regina Caelorum to begin Feb 2, but when you open night prayer, it’s not showing up under Marian Antiphons.

### 5/5 — Easy to use

*2025-12-04, version 9.3.1*

Our parish priest uses this at our daily mass and it is so easy to follow. Love that we have an option to pray for the saint of the day and other important days. Thank you so much. I use it more than just at mass. It’s wonderful to have..

### 5/5 — For a Free App

*2025-10-05, version 9.3.1*

Nothing Better Out There For Serious Holiness
VIVA !

### 5/5 — Best app for the Roman Missal I’ve found (non-clerical)

*2025-05-04, version 9.2.2*

Much more complete than any “Missal” app for iPhone. I had never thought to look at the Missal section until today.

I’ve long been frustrated with the online offerings (web as well as apps) for the Roman Missal.

Takes a bit of getting used to, but I’m convinced the learning curve will be worth the reward.

### 5/5 — Breviary always

*2025-01-05, version 9.2.1*

Always available no matter where you are !! Deacon Mitch
