### 3/5 — Solid Workout Tracker with Great Interval Features, but Persistent Bugs and Poor Support

*2026-01-08*

I've been using iCardio for years primarily because it focuses on actual workouts rather than heavy social media integration, which I appreciate—though unfortunately, it's starting to add more of those elements over time. It supports a huge variety of activities, from running and cycling to weightlifting and even everyday tasks like yard work. The interval training setup is excellent and easy to use, and the audio cues during workouts are clear, motivating, and very effective for keeping me on track.
The online help resources are quite good for explaining how features work. However, there are some frustrating bugs that have persisted for years despite feedback:

Even with metric units selected, some workouts (especially loaded ones) default to imperial measurements.
Editing a saved session seems to work, but changes don't save—when you reload it, it reverts to the original.
Unfavoriting a session doesn't remove it from the favorites list; no amount of reinstalling fixes this.

Support is a major letdown. It's essentially just the help articles plus an AI bot that redirects you back to them. There's no real troubleshooting for bugs or user-reported issues. I've raised some of these problems multiple times over the years and only get generic advice like "reinstall the app," which doesn't help.
If it weren't for the strong interval tools, effective audio coaching, and less intrusive social features compared to competitors, I'd have switched long ago. It's a capable app held back by unresolved issues and lack of responsive support. Hope the developers address these soon!

### 2/5 — Poor Execution on HR Zones

*2025-08-03*

Please describe your issue:
I’m really frustrated with the heart rate zones feature of the app. (1) even when I hit the save button the app never saves my custom zone labels (2) I can’t understand how your hr calculator is calculating and adjusts my zones. I can’t use it if I don’t understand it. (3) I have calculated my max HR to be 160. If I use your customized hr zones calculator online I get the results I expect. However in the app the % of max hr rate is never what I expect when I try to set my zones based on entering my heart rates for each zone. I just want to use the Karvonen method but even your built in Karvonen method does not tie to the expected results in the app. Your online calculator for the Karvonen method works fine. (4) I don’t understand the interplay between adjusting zones from the settings menu vs setting the zones using the gear icon for a particular exercise.

I gave up on your app once before for this issue but came back to it because the visuals are great showing my target HR and actual HR against the backdrop of the HR zones. But I’m always having to do mental calculations in my head to figure out what my % Max HR is from my actual HR when exercising.

I would love it if this feature worked, or I could find clear instructions how to use it and understand the calculations behind it.

### 3/5 — Almost good

*2025-03-18, version 11.049*

The app would be better if it auto-sensed pauses.

### 3/5 — Doesn't work apple health

*2024-12-11, version 11.044*

This is a decent application, but it doesn't sync with Apple health so it's hard to use and keep track of everything. However, if you don't care about the Apple health problem, then it's a very good app.

### 3/5 — Latest update issues

*2024-10-17, version 11.041*

I have used this app for years. The latest update does not work well with the Apple Watch 10. Multiple screens are cut off and the main screen with heart rate, distance, speed, and time is all jumbled together and are not readable. This needs a fix.

### 4/5 — Walk in afternoon with Elle

*2024-03-01, version 11.029*

Excellent sunny day today

### 2/5 — Battery killer

*2024-03-01, version 11.029*

I’ve been a long time user of this app but one of the recent releases has turned this into a battery killer - 2 hours from 100% battery to 10%. I may need to find another app if this keeps up.

### 3/5 — Need app that gives me data

*2024-01-15, version 11.021*

I’ve tried >6 apps to provide real-time continuous data for heart rate training. Bought a Scosche Rhythm24 arm sensor bc dealing with my Polar H10 chest strap is a hassle. So far so good, but their app is terrible. Trying this app but disappointed with inability to access bpm data on the app other than avgs and range in Zones. I need chart with bpm numbers, not just HR zone ranges.
Pairing app with Rhythm24 sensor finicky, too, but not as bad as the Scosche app. 🙄
Will try a few more times while doing HIIT on treadmill.

### 4/5 — Can’t login

*2023-10-04, version 11.015*

I want to use this app again but when I try to login it shuts down, please fix asap!

### 1/5 — App Stopped Working; Can’t Access Support

*2023-08-24, version 11.014*

I have enjoyed a PAID account for many years but it stopped syncing with my Apple Watch several days ago. After trying to force sync several days I thought I’d reload app but now I can’t log in. Without logging in there is no way to contact support. Email link on their website does not work. Tried to reset password but got no reset link. Was a 5-star app, now they are taking my money and providing NO service at all.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Trouble connecting to watch…Always!!

*2026-07-12, version 12.026*

Always having trouble connecting to Apple Watch. Each device claims the other is not in range. Never had this problem with iwalker….never.

### 1/5 — Ditto

*2025-09-25, version 12.002*

to NotoriousDEBT

### 1/5 — No longer functional in 2025

*2025-09-10*

I used this app extensively 10 years ago. Unfortunately, after redownloading it again, it’s completely nonfunctional. It displays error messages when I try to start a workout, and won’t load workout routines, including fitness assessments so you can even see where your HR zones are at. The images are now blurry, and when you click for help options, it loads a full-size webpage that isn’t designed for mobile use and is hard to read through all of the popups. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and now it’s displaying error messages during the setup process, too, so I cannot even reach the main home screens. Disappointed to see such a great app become totally unusable, even more so since I’m not sure I’ll be able to get a refund for the subscription fee.

### 1/5 — Funktioniert nicht

*2025-07-06, version 11.053*

App lädt keine Routinen mehr , stürzt ständig ab. Schade eigentlich.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work anymore

*2025-01-28, version 11.046*

App used to be great. Now the entire workout it keep connected and disconnecting from my
Heart rate monitor. Very annoying and inconsistent. Had to delete

### 1/5 — Latest update stinks!!

*2024-06-26, version 11.037*

I have been using this app for about 15 years. This latest update is AWFUL! I have missed recording multiple workout because now I have to press start AFTER I start the app! That was the worst change ever!

### 1/5 — Obvious spyware

*2024-06-03, version 11.036*

I assume it works great if you're willing to share your location 24/7, and give it unlimited access to your camera, microphone, and photos. I gave it only the permissions it might reasonably need like my heart rate and bluetooth, and it protested by bricking itself.

Back in my day we used to call this kind of app a "virus" but here we are.

### 1/5 — ICardio is not honoring their deal

*2024-04-02, version 11.029*

A while ago, I bought a lifetime ad-free subscription to iCardio. Now ads are creeping up all over the place. Please be aware that this company changed the terms of my subscription without notice or consent. And they may do the same to you. Before you send them your money, look for a different fitness tracker.

### 1/5 — waste of money

*2024-03-12, version 11.029*

Used to be a one time purchase premium app. not worth the subscription so many better options that are actually free

### 1/5 — No permite exportar

*2024-02-10, version 11.024*

La app permite de todo menos exportar la data…. Cuando la arreglen les doy mas estrellas , si no exporta no me sirve

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great Workout App!

*2025-12-27*

I have used this product since its inception to track my workouts and have zero complaints. looking back at the saved results, I have logged over 2000 workouts since 2010. It tracks the type of workout from weightlifting to elliptical to open outdoor activities (think yard work) to open indoor activities (think vacuuming or cleaning a bathroom). It tracks the amount of time, calories, and even effort. If you are outside, it will map your route.

The app works with my iPhone and my Apple Watch seamlessly. It also connects to my Polar Heart-rate monitor while it is connected to my elliptical.

Note: I do find the heart rate strap to be more accurate on the calorie burn than the watch, but you can choose whether the app uses the watch or strap for your heart rate tracking.

### 5/5 — Been using it for over a decade

*2025-11-20, version 12.005*

Love it. Lots of data. Everyone should use.

Karate.

### 5/5 — Ótimos dados para quem busca perder peso

*2025-06-30, version 11.053*

Único app que conheço que informa em tempo real durante uma atividade a média de calorias por minuto e a %fatcal, o que permite ajustar a intensidade do exercício para otimizar a queima de gordura.

### 5/5 — For power users the only choice

*2025-05-10, version 11.049*

This app has many things going for it. The custom routines section allows you to have a prescribed sequence of heart rate/distance/time sections in a structured format. It has auto-pause for when you want to take a brief stop. You can talk to the app via Siri (e.g., “pause iCardio workout”), which I do with PowerBeats Pro 2 (no integration of heart rate from these earbuds yet, as of May 10 2025). It has a good set of data on the display including a heart rate history graph that’s useful in spin classes. A recent update, either IOS or app-side, means that after you’ve paused the workout via Siri, you have to take out the phone and unlock it before you can resume the workout, which completely kills the functionality for me as I keep the phone in a lumbar water waist bag. I hope that gets addressed soon.

### 5/5 — Simply the Best!

*2024-09-17, version 11.040*

I’ve tried a few apps before found ICardio, but since then I only use this.
This app provides everything what I need for cycling.
Works with Igpsport heart rate band too!

### 5/5 — How a beat my Diabetes

*2024-08-12, version 11.038*

This app help me control and beet my illness. Working with two (2) sensors and my stationary bike. The app is a winner.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-07-01, version 11.037*

Easy to set up and use. Use it with HRM for even better targeted workouts.

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-04-25, version 11.031*

Love the app. I wish there was a way to see actual time of my splits

### 5/5 — Couldn’t connect heart rate watch at first

*2024-03-10, version 11.029*

I connected in iPad (had to connect heart monitor in Bluetooth menu).

After that I went back to iPhone, connected in Bluetooth, and then looked in settings and saw a pair option which I don’t usually have to use, in the APP ,but that worked!

Updated review

### 5/5 — Apple Watch screen after recent update.

*2023-10-04, version 11.015*

Yesterday’s update leaves a large space in the header with the name iCardio and Time stacked in the upper right. The previous version had iCardio in the upper left and time (clock) in the upper right. The new format takes up ~1/4 to 1/5 of the screen. Not a biggie, just a nitpick -)
