### 4/5 — Love, except recent UI update

*2026-08-07, version 15.0.4*

I love iCatcher! and have been using it religiously for years for all of my podcasts.

I’m having problems with the recent UI update in 2 areas (I’m on an iPhone 13 Mini and will hang on to this “small” phone until it’s pried from my hands!!):

1. Deleting a downloaded episode. This is the most common thing I do every day and you used to be able to simply swipe left and pick “delete” but now you have to click on the TINY 3 dots, click Delete on the menu, and then click Delete Episode. So many steps! Also, 90% of the time, the menu quickly disappears before I’m able to even hit the delete episode button. Sometimes if I go fast enough I can grab it, but mostly I have to mark as watched and then later go to the bottom and delete. All of this is really frustrating. This appears to be a bug.

2. It’s really hard to tell if an episode has been watched. Something changed with the colors or shading where it used to be obvious, and now I have to study/compare next to another episode. :(

Thank you!!

### 3/5 — Still great, but...

*2026-07-17*

Probably the only app that keeps me on ios currently. One feature that is massively missing from the recent updates is the ability to move the episodes within a play list. Previous version, I could edit the play order by selecting edit. I could then move it and a number of episodes at once to a different place in the play list. It no longer appear in these updates

### 2/5 — New UI, but disappointing performance

*2026-07-13, version 15.0.2*

Update: Moore and Moore playback issues. Episodes pause. The streaming of episodes fails unexpectedly. This is becoming unusable.

The new UI is pretty nice, but I have a lot of issues with playback is unreliable since the refresh. For example, it sometimes takes several taps to get a streaming episode to play. Sometimes it jumps forward to the next episode unexpectedly. Sometimes when I tell Siri to go back several minutes it goes back to the previous episode in the queue.
These are not rare problems. I encounter them basically every other day. I’ve emailed the developer and haven’t heard anything; I’m sure he’s busy…

### 4/5 — Working well

*2026-07-03, version 15.0.2*

So much better than Apple's Pmodcast app. It sometimes freezes on the download screen.

### 3/5 — Mise à jour catastrophique

*2026-06-25*

### 2/5 — Bad change to display

*2026-06-23, version 15.0*

The app recently changed its appearance for the worse. Previously when viewing episodes the choice of colors and shading made it very easy to see when an episode was played vs unplayed. And you could easily delete an episode with a left-swipe. Now there is a tiny progress circle that is really hard to see at a glance and the delete podcast episode option is buried.

I would have emailed the developer about this rather than put it in a review, but the email option is disabled.

### 4/5 — was nothing to touch it

*2026-06-23, version 15.0*

but the cracks are appearing. learn from the master evolutes - apple - and don't foist too many changes at once. appearance has changed for worse. light view is an after thought. compatibility with ios18 tenuous. liquid glass is an abomination, apple know they messed up, rewinding changes, hopefully we'll see that here too. otherwise, still the best, just.

### 4/5 — One of the best

*2026-06-19, version 15.0*

Used this app for years and it is a daily fixture of my listening. I like the new UI it looks much more modern. The the biggest issue I have with the update, a small item, is the removal of the ability to sort for unplayed/download in oldest to newest. It saves on the endless scold when catching up on podcast and makes it much easier to move to the next episode.

### 5/5 — This is the one!!!

*2026-06-19, version 15.0*

I have been using this app daily for 11 years!! and it just continues to have the richest feature set. I especially love the gestures to quickly skip forward and backward through podcasts and the variable playback speed which can also be gesture controlled. It can also handle video podcasts which many others cannot. This is the only podcast app you need. Thank you Joe for keeping this app updated! For those of you who have been using this app for years like me, please consider leaving a “tip” periodically for the developer in Settings->tip jar to make sure the developer is compensated for keeping the app going. I usually tip $10-15 per year since I use this app every single day. Thank You!!!

### 5/5 — The best podcast app just got better

*2026-06-19, version 15.0*

V15.0 bring UI changes and, most importantly, transcription.

I've been using this app for many, many, years, it's unreservedly a 5 star app and by far the best and most customisable podcast player. Thank you devs!

### 5/5 — Outstanding

*2026-06-17, version 9.3.3*

The absolute BEST pod player!

### 5/5 — Best app

*2026-06-04, version 9.3.3*

Long time user. This is the best app for pods, it’s user friendly and feature rich. Highly recommend

### 5/5 — Doesn’t spy - works well

*2026-05-24, version 9.3.3*

It just works and doesn’t spy on you. Good for someone who knows what they want to listen to and not to browse through podcasts they have no interest in. Worth every cent.

### 3/5 — Mostly good, outdated interface

*2026-05-11, version 9.3.3*

This is generally a good app for podcasts. But the UI is pretty outdated (even before Liquid Glass) and it has problems forgetting where in a podcast you are. Many times the app seems to scrub 20 or 30 min for no apparent reason. Never experienced this in any other podcast player.

### 3/5 — Marvellous but having problems

*2026-05-02, version 9.3.3*

This is a great podcast app which still gets regularly updated, have used it for years and very happy with it

Having an issue recently with the audio stopping when opening other apps and sometimes when the phone locks , it didn’t used to and other audio apps don’t have the same issue, it’s still happening and I have tried everything looking for a solution to fix it, months later it’s still broken just stops playing all the time, when the phone locks or when opening a lot of apps having to listen on other apps ☹️

### 3/5 — No tracking but crashes

*2026-04-22, version 9.3.3*

I want to like this app a lot, even though the UI feels a little dated. Unfortunately it crashes in the background, losing track of what was playing. Sometimes a podcast just stops playing and it skips to a different episode. Never had these problems with other players.

### 2/5 — Viele nervige Probleme

*2026-04-18*

### 4/5 — Some issues with the latest update

*2026-04-14, version 9.3.3*

Great app! I've been using it for several years. However, with the latest version 9.3.3, I encountered an annoying problem: episodes I've already downloaded sometimes return to the download queue after a short time. I have to download them again, sometimes using up my mobile data. But maybe I just didn't figure out some of the settings. I would appreciate any help with this matter.

### 5/5 — Tolle App für Power-User

*2026-04-06*

### 3/5 — Used to be great

*2026-03-29, version 9.3.3*

I’ve been using this app for many years and loved all it has to offer. However, for the past few months it’s been locking up every time I use a different audio app, forcing me to reboot it multiple times a day. It doesn’t matter if I make a phone call, listen to a streaming app or an audiobook, this app won’t respond to any input until I reboot it. Gonna look for a different podcast app that is more robust.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Web browser gone

*2025-10-14, version 9.2.8*

They removed the web browser from the app. Now I cannot download my favorite podcasts. Useless to me now! I want my money back!

### 1/5 — Best Podcast player I’ve found

*2025-04-29*

**Edit**
Two updates ago broke important functionality of this app. Previously, regardless of what your download limit was set to, you could download an entire playlist (very useful for offline use). Now, you can only download as many episodes as the podcast limit is set to, and I’ve found no way to override that. This makes it so you can’t queue up a bunch of pods in a playlist for later offline use. I’ve reported the bug to the Dev and never heard back, and unfortunately it’s still broken.

Was a longtime user of Overcast until the recent update destroyed it, and it doesn’t seem like it’ll ever be what it once was. Started trialing all the other popular players and they’re either too buggy to use, or require a ridiculous subscription (monthly subscription for a podcast player?! Get real). Finally found iCatcher! and have been very happy with it! A reasonable one time cost, and all the features you could possibly want in a player.

### 1/5 — Not intuitive. Doesn’t sync with watch consistently, if ever.

*2025-03-08, version 9.1.7*

I’ve got all the settings set. Most of the time, the playlist choices do not sync. There is a podcast on my phone but it shows a greyed out screen when trying to view / engage it from watch. I’ve watched YouTube videos. This was a waste of money. Maybe it’s fine on a phone. Even after swiping on app to close it on watch, when opening most of the time it won’t show that anything is in a playlist from my phone.

### 1/5 — Missing podcast

*2024-12-02*

Can’t find The Latin America History podcast, found it on apple podcast, apotify apps
Paid for that podcast, not there- wish I could be refunded

**Developer response:** Just searched for ‘the latin american history’ and I found it. You can also view podcast in the podcasts app and choose the share action and copy URL. Then paste that URL in the podcast search in iCatcher.

### 1/5 — Inserts ads into what you listen to

*2024-02-06, version 8.1.5*

This podcast app was a lot better before they started inserting ads into every single podcast you download or stream.

### 1/5 — CONSTANT Crashing

*2023-12-14, version 8.1.2*

I’ve had this app for years, and it is so much better than anything else out there, but it CONSTANTLY crashes. The last 3-6 months have been so frustrating. Start a show, close the screen, pocket and start dishes - multiple crashes over the next 5 minutes. I’m so close to switching, but argh, overall the app is so much better UI, functions, etc. than alternatives. The crashing is killing me though…

### 1/5 — C’était mieux avant

*2022-12-28*

**Developer response:** Thanks for the heads up. iTunes podcast directory isn’t returning the url for some podcasts. I do have a work around. Go to settings tab, experimental and enable the new search. That will use the podcast index search for those that have no url.

### 1/5 — Broken

*2022-08-20, version 7.0.3*

Impossible to load new podcasts… It worked well in the past but now the app is completely useless. I can’t recommend this to anyone.

### 1/5 — Broken now

*2019-12-09, version 6.2*

Only all I have that started almost perfect and got worse with each update. Now unusable.

Latest break: importing OPML doesn’t work. Good luck adding your 70 podcasts individually on a new phone.

### 1/5 — Plantage après nouvelle version

*2019-09-22*

Inutilisable.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Best podcast player out there!!!!

*2026-07-31, version 15.0.4*

I’ve been using iCatcher! for years. It is the best out there. Setting up playlists, syncing between devices, and managing subscriptions, it’s just the best.

### 5/5 — Still great…

*2026-07-22, version 15.0.4*

Thank you for the response from the developer. I have now resolved issues. Great app. Used it for years and still the best.

### 5/5 — Best Podcast App

*2026-07-14, version 15.0.2*

This podcast app is my favorite. Joe the developer did an amazing job. I noticed that there an a really. Life major update recently which was great.
I have been happily using this app for many many years on my iPhone and iPad. I love the swipe gestures and the user interface is nice. Swipe left or right to skip ahead or back. Swipe up and to the right to mark as played or draw an L to do the Leo skipping 2 minutes.
Double tap to pause or play. I also love the user interface. I have tried many other podcast apps but prefer this one.
This app can play video and audio podcasts.

### 5/5 — My favorite podcast app (again)

*2026-07-08, version 15.0.2*

A mature app, and it keeps getting better. Well-designed, and you can tell that it's had real-world testing. Great usability and attention to detail. With so many features and options, you can configure the app exactly the way you want it. I especially like the Auto Start Sleep Timer, a feature I have not seen in other podcast apps. The developer is responsive and releases timely updates.

### 5/5 — Years of podcasting

*2026-07-07, version 15.0.2*

I started listening to podcasts when Adam Curry (the Pod Father) produced the Daily Source Code podcast.

I’ve tried different podcast players over the years and haven’t found any other players that work as well as iCatcher. The user features make it both easy to use, and has power-user features.

A great product. 👍👍

### 5/5 — Great app, love it

*2026-07-03, version 15.0.2*

2026 update: added features have made this even better and it’s still the best.

I love this app! It has more settings and features than anything else I’ve ever used. It has everything I need and allows for authenticated podcast which far too few apps do and this is the best of the ones that do

### 5/5 — The best out there!

*2026-06-21, version 15.0*

Been using iCatcher for several years, I've tried others but none compare. If you want total control over your podcast listening experience, this is the only serious contender.

### 5/5 — Simply the best

*2026-06-21, version 15.0*

The most feature rich podcast app. Plenty of ways to customize and setup the way you want

### 5/5 — Don’t look for a better podcasts manager

*2026-06-19, version 15.0*

This is it. Plenty of features for those who loves podcasts and listen them on a daily basis.

### 5/5 — Refreshed ui is welcome!

*2026-06-19, version 15.0*

So many capabilities. New UI is nice, but a bit too plain in some screens like playlist display. The UI is touchy: too easy to play episodes unexpectedly. Very complex customization options… very flexible. Sometimes frustrating because of the complex settings, but still one of the best.
