## What is Ice Age Life?

One Stone Age life, start to finish. Then you die and do it again as someone new.

You're born into a band of hunter-gatherers on the Ice Age steppe. The game doesn't skip the boring parts and it doesn't skip the hard ones. You live the whole thing, from a kid underfoot to the elder the young ones stop listening to.

What kind of life is yours? You find out by living it.

Hunt mammoth until the band can't eat without you. Fall hard for someone two camps over. Raise three kids through a winter that was only meant to take one. Take in a half-wild wolf. Cross the wrong man and spend the next twenty years squaring it. Do something worth remembering, and hear your name long after you're gone.

Then winter takes you too. It takes everyone.

But your soul doesn't stop. It starts over - new body, new family, a new corner of a hard and beautiful world - and something of who you were comes with it.

Every season is a board. The weather, the herds, the sickness and the strangers come up as cards, and you decide who in your band meets which one. Send the wrong person at a wolf pack and you lose them. Send nobody and everyone goes hungry.

No graphics here, and that's the point. It's all words, so the steppe looks like whatever your head makes of it. Nothing is scripted. Every life grows out of the choices you actually make, so no two ever land the same way.

Eight worlds so far: the Mammoth Steppe of the late Ice Age, the East Wind Plains beyond it, the red desert heart of the Great South Land, the frozen heart of the continent, the painted country at the tip of Africa, the wooded limestone valleys of southwest France, the high rift savanna of East Africa, and the glacier coast at the edge of the world. More are coming.

Free to play. Ads keep it that way, and there are a few things to buy if you want them, but the whole game is yours for nothing. Firekeeper membership turns the ads off.

Optional Firekeeper membership is an auto-renewable subscription, available as Ember ($3.99 / month) or Hearth ($19.99 / year). Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. The subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. Manage or cancel anytime in your App Store settings. (Eternal Flame is a one-time purchase, not a subscription.)

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.7.1 — 2026-08-23

Two new places to be born, and a lot more happening once you are.

- The Great Rift and the World's Edge: the last two Era 1 homelands, each with its own road and its own ending.
- Seasons have their own events now. Storms, sickness, good years and lean ones, and crises that can cost a life.
- 142 life cards got their choices back, so a lot of moments are decisions again.
- Everyone has their own face now, at every age.
- Onboarding opens right away instead of waiting behind a name field.

### 1.7.0 — 2026-08-20

### 1.6 — 2026-08-04

Your progress can live somewhere other than this phone now.

- Sign in with Apple or Google to back up what carries between lives: your soul, your stones and shells, everything you have unlocked.
- New phone, or a reinstall? Restore it. You see the cloud copy next to this phone first, and nothing is replaced until you say so.
- The life you are living right now still stays on this phone.
- The game goes by its real name in-app now: Ice Age Life.

### 1.5.1 — 2026-07-31

Mostly fixes, plus one new thing.

- The big one: leaving the season screen with your phone's back button could silently throw away everything you'd just done, skill gains included. Fixed.
- Skill gains now land exactly as the popup says.
- New: get good enough at a skill and your card's strength grows with it. Not just deeds any more.
- Every homeland you finish shows up in free play now, with a proper send-off.
- The Frozen Heart runs at its intended cold.

### 1.5 — 2026-07-28

Two new homelands, at opposite ends of the cold.

- The Frozen Heart: a cold desert at the centre of Asia, where noon burns, dark freezes, and camels cross the gravel in strings.
- The Painted South: dry scrub in far southern Africa, where you paint a stone and carry it - the only art in the game that moves with you.
- Each opens after you carry a line through the homeland before it.
- Its own people, animals and weather in both.
- A Sunstone in the mail for everyone already on the road.

(about 493 chars. The App Store cap is 4000, but keeping it inside Play's
500 means one block can serve both when the versions have not drifted.)
