## What is Icebreaker.?

Welcome to Iceland.

A country that is expensive, tough to navigate, and full of tourist traps. The best places aren't on TripAdvisor. They're in the heads of people who actually live here. Icebreaker puts all of that in one app. From arrival to adventure.

Built by The Tourist Trapp, a software team with a mutual passion for creating outstanding experiences. Illustrated by Hugleikur Dagsson, Iceland's most famous and beloved cartoonist. Carefully curated by The Reykjavík Grapevine, the publication locals (as well as tourists) have used for over twenty years to find what's actually worth doing in Iceland.

Now's your chance to actually experience Iceland.

WHAT'S INSIDE

Live map of everywhere good
Activities, restaurants, bars, cafés, swimming pools, museums, shops. All curated by people who actually live here, plotted on one clean map. Filter by tag. Save favourites.

Vinur, your AI guide
A Reykjavík local that lives in your phone. Vinur won't hard-sell you, but he will mansplain why you are not seeing the northern lights in July. Think of him as your Icelandic buddy that you once went to college with.

Happy Hour radar
Pubs in Reykjavík compete on happy hour windows like sports. The map shows which bars are deal-on right now (with a live countdown until they close) and which ones open theirs in the next hour. No more paying full price by accident.

Cheap Eats radar
Same logic for food: a yellow countdown pill tells you when $30 lunches drop to $10. Built for tight wallets, not Michelin lists.

Fuel comparison
Live petrol & diesel prices from every station in Iceland, colour-coded green to red so the cheap pump is obvious. Tap any station to see it on the map.

Currency calculator that follows you
Punch in any ISK amount and see it in your home currency. Tap a "How expensive is stuff?" card to fill the calculator instantly. Your chosen currency travels with you. Fuel prices, costs, everything reflows.

Get around
One screen for airport transfers, scooters, taxis, car rentals, parking zones, road conditions, and strange local road signs that could save your life.

Events this week
Concerts, art, comedy, theatre, talks, kids stuff. Filter by today, tomorrow, or the rest of the week.

Pools, cinemas, museums, design shops
The classics, organised so you can find them on a tired day.

Weird Icelandic phrases
Daily sayings tourists won't have heard. "The raisin at the end of the hot dog." "To pee in your own shoe." Useful at parties, useless in conversation.

Honest local weather
Iceland weather doesn't behave like other weather. Ours adapts.

Grapevine pickup spots
Find the nearest physical copy of The Reykjavík Grapevine. You won't regret it.

ICEBREAKER VERSION 1

We're starting with Reykjavík because that's where most travellers actually land. The rest of the country is coming soon.

### 5/5 — Fun Little Travel Buddy

*2026-08-17*

Found this in a random bar on our first day in Reykjavík. It put us on to two of our favorite restaurants and our favorite brewery during our trip. Only thing I’d ask is more recommendations outside of the capital. We spent 17 days driving around the whole country. There wasn’t much besides a handful of restaurants scattered about. Some more local insights for drinks and activities further out would be cool!

Otherwise, great app. The little weather forecasts in the morning were cute too.

### 5/5 — Essential for Visitors
