It works great. I don't have any trouble with the app. The only issues are small and they are with the equipment itself. The plug in doesn't stay plugged in very easy so I use a rubber band to hold it together and that fixes the problem. The other issue is the lights on the temperature probe are very difficult to see in daylight. All in all I would still recommend this product to friends and family. I love being able to put a brisket on the smoker and keep an eye on the meat temperature and the smoker temperature al from my smart device. I've been known to plug my iPad in and set the display to never shut off and just leave the app open and watch it while doing other things. Like enjoying a cold beer with friends. And everyone can hep keep an eye on the meal. Makes for more fun. ### 2/5 — Has potential... *2016-05-30, version 2.2.2* This product and app have a lot of potential, but many software bugs remain to be fixed. Syncing through your home network is supposed to then allow linkage through the internet, allowing remote monitoring from an iPad or iPhone, anywhere you go beyond your own wifi network. The connectivity, however, is inconsistent and frequently disconnects. Additionally, every time you switch to a different app screen on your device (like switching back to Settings so you can reconnect the wifi that you just lost...again), you lose all of the temperature history that you've been graphing. Very frustrating as that is the whole point to graphing. It is supposed to store your temperature and graphing history, but doesn't do so. On the plus side, the thermometer appears to be extremely accurate down to the tenth of a degree. You can even just blow on it lightly from a few feet away and it will register the temp change. Overall, good hardware, software needs work. Hope they fix it as I'd really like to not have to return the product. I'm perfecting brisket recipes and temp accuracy (and being able to see what it actually IS) is critical! UPDATE 5/29/16: Ok, sorry folks. As much as I wanted this thing to succeed, it is really just crap. Latest update just crashes repeatedly. Completely unreliable for what I need it to do. Returning it on Tuesday and demanding full refund. Don't bother purchasing until they fix EVERYTHING about their software, or better yet just buy from someone else. ### 2/5 — Nearly there - but crashes ruin it *2016-05-04, version 2.2.0* The app does everything I need, really nice graphing of temps, alerts, good UI... But... It crashes every time my phone locks or I switch to another app, losing all my data for that session. This is so annoying and makes it almost useless. How am I meant to monitor my cooks if I can't just come in and out of the app over a 8-12 hour smoking session? Even if I leave it running on my iPad it will still crash randomly after an hour or so, again losing all that session's data. Please fix this app! ### 4/5 — Gets the job done but could be a superstar if... *2016-02-22, version 2.1.72* Ok so this device is able to monitor your bbq and food temp, so what all the gizmos can do that... I already have a maverick thermometer and it works well except for one thing... I cannot put on a brisket and monitor the bbq and food temp while I'm out and about. This is the reason I purchased the iCelsuis. With this device and app I can monitor my food and bbq temperature via the Internet while I'm out and about. No more being tethered to the house!!! Fantastic. It's almost a slam dunk except the alarms and notifications don't sound when the app isn't open. I don't think they've set it up to run in the background. What a shame I can't get a warning while the app is closed. Opening the app will still let you know where things are at but background notifications would really help. The app will actually let you set an alarm that calls a number. Not sure what that's about but sending a txt to your phone is the bbq or food hits alarm state would be amazing. Almost there guys keep going!! ### 1/5 — Going down hill *2015-10-11, version 2.1.71* Worked great my first 2 outings...now the correct readings just flash on the screen for less than a second then nothing or some wild temp for 10 seconds...is this an ios9 issue? Last cook iPhone worked fine an iPad had this problem, now both. On a side note the documentation is vague and if you are not a techie don't touch this ### 3/5 — Not worth the money *2015-10-04, version 2.1.71* I have been very disappointed with this app and hardware.I bought model with two temp probes to measure both cooking and meat temp. 1) I have had to replace the temp probes at my expense because they quit working. I've had the new ones for 9 months and now they appear to be failing. Yesterday one was giving me the infinity symbol and saying it was reading a temp outside its range. Not possible as I was smoking a pork butt on a pellet grill. 2) when connected to the wireless wifi of my home network it will drop the connection if your iPad goes to sleep. So you need to keep it connected to the icelsius connection but that means you can use your device/wifi to surf the Internet because it doesn't have a wifi connection. My friends have purchased other options and been happier. ### 1/5 — Not perfected yet *2015-08-31, version 2.1.71* I love the idea and think they are on to something but it's not perfected yet. I have had three of there products and only one still works. Wifi Bbq probe stopped working, Bluetooth didn't work at all. It is nearly impossible to get a hold of the company. Don't buy it.,sounds great if it worked. ### 3/5 — Buggy *2015-08-23, version 2.1.71* Great when it works but lots of connectivity issues over wifi (which is the reason to buy this versus the less expensive blue tooth or radio options). Looses network, stops sending data, displays that probe isn't connected when it is, etc. Probes are also buggy. One of my dual probes jumps wildly between negative infinity and 80 degrees when sitting on the counter. Great idea but beware that you're a beta tester. ### 4/5 — Dual BBQ Needs Dual Alarm *2015-07-05, version 2.1.71* I've been searching for a device that can use WiFi instead of Bluetooth or 300Mhz. I wanted something I could use to keep an eye on my smoker and since it produces a lot of smoke I have the smoker a ways from the house. WiFi works great for this extended range that low power wireless like Bluetooth can't reach. I bought the dual probe because I need to watch the smoker temp and the meat temp. Two widely different temps most of the time. The problem with this app when used with he dual bar-b-que probes is that there is only one set of alarm points and it applies to both probes. I want to set a low temp alarm for the smoker to tell me if it runs out of wood and I want to set a high temp alarm for the meet probe to tell me the meat is cooked. The smoker low temp alarm is above the meat temp most of the time and the finished meat high temp alarm is below the smoker temp. The hardware from iCelsius seems to be in short supply. I ordered mine a couple of months ago and just received it recently. So this is my first big test of the system. So far, so good except for the alarm thing. Since this is a 12 hour cook I'm going to have to plug it in. Please fix it ### 1/5 — Constantly crashes *2018-09-25, version 2.2.15* Can’t open the app, constantly crashes on iPad and iPhone! ### 1/5 — Unreliable remote sensing *2017-04-05, version 2.2.9* I bought this to sense a temperature remotely. It is wifi connected to a business router with a fixed IP. The setup is a bit flaky. You must first use a smartphone and the iCelsius app to connect to the unit's own wifi SSID. When that us done you must load the internet router's password into the unit. Then you switch back your smartphone to the router. You also need a Google account, rather than use a port number on a fixed IP, like every other security device I know. The end result us that I frequently try to look remotely at a temperature and I get nothing after it works for a while. The sensing using a browser, via Google account, does not survive 24 hours before the supplied software loses the sensor and displays 'no data'. The software supplied is idiosyncratic to say the least. It is anything but ergonomic. The worst aspect of this system is the non-existent support. I have used the 'Contact Us' page on the supplied software and the messaging button on their Facebook page but have not been even acknowledged. The system is usable locally when a smartphone can talk directly to the unit but I give up on using the remote facility. ### 1/5 — 2.2.9 iPhone 5 *2017-03-24, version 2.2.9* The most important item on the live view (current temp) is now messed up on version 2.2.9. Example if the temperature is 150.5 degs, the live view shows 1...5 I use this app for a wood burning boiler output temperature. I check the temp regularly through the day and now must go to graph and wait a minute for the temperature to appear on the graph. I don't know how the failure of the most important item within the app wasn't caught before the update release. ### 1/5 — Principal *2016-11-28, version 2.2.7* Piece of junk. I keep getting a pop up to download a newer version even though I've downloaded already, deleted the app and redownloaded, and reset power. Nothing stops the pop up! I'm returning the unit. ### 1/5 — Woeful, Terrible, Pathetic, iCelsuseless, DO NOT BUY *2015-11-20, version 2.1.72* I've been using this unit for the last month or so. It is inconsistent, unreliable and will not maintain a connection to the Internet. I needed a good solution to monitor my smoker while I was running a service or sleeping. This is not the solution. On the occasions that it did maintain a connection the data reading was stuck at a previous time and would not refresh. I'm trying to run a business and this has made it impossible. The company have accepted a return but at a 10% admin fee.
