---------------

This is the first and original Confession guide for Roman Catholics on the iPhone, and featured in several Catholic blogs and videos such as: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5KftViTzRM.

IMPORTANT: This is not meant to replace the Sacrament of Penance or Confession. Nothing can.

This is a comprehensive guidebook and tool for Roman Catholics taking the Sacrament of Confession. It helps the user do a thorough Examination of Conscience in preparation for Confession, and facilitates the remembrance of what to confess to the Priest.

It uniquely provides an easy to navigate electronic book with the added ability to:
- Search for any content
- Flag an item for easy reference during Confession
- Do a detailed Examination of Conscience with the ability to flag individual sins so you can go through them one by one as you take your Confession with the Priest
- Optional icon badging of number of flagged notes/sins to constantly remind you of what to consider on your next Confession
- Logging of all your Confessions to remember important points discussed with the Priest
- Built-in notepad for taking down notes to discuss with the Priest during Confession

This guide to the Sacrament of Reconcilliation covers the following areas:
- About Confession
--- What, why, and how
--- What is a sin
- A thorough Examination of Conscience
--- The Ten Commandments, each examined in detail
--- The Seven Deadly Sins
--- Other types of sins
- Prayers for Confession
- Readings on Confession

How to have a good Confession with this app:
1. Do the Examination of Conscience and go through each of the Ten Commandments, marking those sins which you think you committed since your last good Confession by tapping on the flag icon.
2. Review your flagged items and re-phrase the sins by copy-pasting or entering them into the notepad facility of the app. Include special circumstances like how many times you committed the sin, as well as anything which might make the sin more or less grave.
3. Do the Sacrament of Penance or Confession with a Priest, reading from your notepad as you go along to help you remember what you need to discuss with him.
4. Take down the important points suggested by the Priest, as well as any resolutions you may have, using the Confession Log feature

Here are a few of the wonderful feedback we have received from people who have used this app:
- "It has been over a year since I last went to confession and your App is just what the doctor ordered. I'm trying to prepare for a good Confession and this will certainly help me."
- "It's a great app. I'm a former protestant minister of 18 years My family and I converted in January 2006. I place a high value on this sacrament and find iConfess app to be very beneficial in aiding consistency, frequency and - if you will -quality of my Confession."
- "Just wanted to let you know that this app motivated me to hit the confessional in under 24 hours from when I installed it on my phone. It is an invaluable help in examining my conscience correctly in light of true Church teaching, too! I've sung this app's praises on my Facebook profile in hopes that more people buy and use it."

Content has been researched from authoritative Catholic sources such as the Vatican's Catechism of the Catholic Church, Catholic.org, HolySpiritInteractive.net, CatholicParents.org, CatholicCulture.org, and EWTN.

### 4/5 — Confessed List of Sins

*2024-07-19*

Hello. While I find this app generally helpful I am wondering if there is any possibility of tracking the "number" of times a particular sin was committed, given that the priest will sometimes ask the penitent how often a sin was repeated since the last confession. Just wondering as I'm sure other Catholics have encountered similar situation.

### 3/5 — Could be better

*2023-01-15*

Can't write much in the Notepad. The page won't scroll up and, after a few lines, the keyboard covers what you're typing.

Can't add personal sins to flag for confession.

Can't save the date of last confession unless you use the Log which can't be edited.

### 3/5 — So disappointed

*2020-07-25*

After years of using this app, it keeps telling me my password is incorrect. You cannot change your password on this app. It is the password I have always used. It is even in my password keeper. Now all of my notes from years of using this app are gone! It is a great app, but I am so angry right now, I can’t even go to confession... how’s that for a review?

### 3/5 — Forgot PW

*2019-11-27, version 2.0*

How do I reset?

### 5/5 — Very useful& truthful

*2019-10-06*

I needed help in examining consciousness. Thank you! No sugar coating! I need to make a good confession!

### 5/5 — Password

*2018-11-21*

How can I reset my password?

### 3/5 — Good app

*2018-03-14*

Needs a log in/ out as well as a password. Should also include a way to add your own prayers (e.g.: Memorare, specific prayers from saints, or prayers your priest asks you to pray for penance), a way to keep track ( log) when last class confession was/ and see how often you are going; a way to data track / keep data in a sort of memory/ excel spread sheet done automatically once you flag a sin) your sins to see if you really are trying to improve on repeated sins...

### 5/5 — Best Confession app ever

*2018-03-07*

This app was updated on March 6, 2018. I have tried a dozen different Confession apps and this seems to be the very best of everything I’ve tried, both free as well as paid. There is no better “examination of conscience” in any app other than this one. All Confession apps have the examination conscience starting with the 10 Commandments. Most stop there which is pretty limited. This app continues with, Sins with respect to the Sacrament of Confession, Sins that cry to heaven for vengeance, Sins against the Holy Spirit, Nine ways of being an accessory to another persons Sin. It continues with the seven deadly Sins of Anger, Sorrow, Gluttony, Pride, Laxity, Lust, and Greed. Finally, Sins regarding the precepts of the Catholic Church. Trust me if you make it through this examination of conscience you’re halfway to sainthood.
Earlier negative comments seemed to be in regard to the password protection which was available on the older versions. For me, that was never a real problem for the following reasons. First, most people’s phones lock so it’s a moot point and second the examination of conscience is done before Confession and everything is cleared out before you leave the confessional. Nevertheless, that’s no longer an issue, because password protection has been fixed.

### 5/5 — Not working on iPS11

*2018-01-20, version 1.9*

Great app but currently not working in iOS 11

### 3/5 — iOS 11!!

*2018-01-19*

my phone won’t let me use iConfess with iOS11 unless you guys update the app :(
