Recently there has been an update to the app, so I updated it. But now when I click on the app it just keeps saying updating at the top. Today’s review will be about the loading times for sending pictures and videos. When your sending pictures and videos with someone or a group chat for example it needs to be fast. That person/group needs to receive the pictures/videos lighting fast speeds. Right now it is kinda fast but still noticeably slow. And when someone sends a video it doesn’t properly send. Please fix this. Thank you. ### 4/5 — Love this *2020-06-01, version 9.1* When my boyfriend couldn’t FaceTime me when he had a different type of phone, and I had an iPhone this app was our go to now we chat together with friends privately without having to use our messenger app on our iPhones. I love the stickers that you can choose as well and I like that you can make your own stickers. The only issue we had was the fuzziness on facetime but other than that no complaints. You can also see when another person is online or has read their message. The same applies as to why OpenPGP isn’t included by default in email, or the same direct perfect forward secrecy between connections. I understand offering ads, makes no issue or problem, and so long as they use “safe” annoying pop ups and stuff. So long as ads would qualify to the “safe” ads that are easily approved and allowed by any half decent content blocker. I grew up using ICQ, and would gladly jump back towards using ICQ only, if those security holes were fixed and removed. ### 5/5 — Not working with WiFi at work *2019-11-07, version 8.1.1* I love ICQ but it doesn’t work when the phone is hooked up with my employer’s WiFi. Other messenging services do not have this problem at all. When you block someone it’s completely removed from your chats, but the can still see the messages and videos. I think it should be completely removed from their chat as well. I love this app use this app every day but I would love it if you made it so the badges (the red thing that shows you how many notifications you have) went past 1,000. I like that it easily pairs up with the desktop version of the program. I have only found the issue that I’ve needed to reinstall it because of problems with message notifications. I have also recently found the problem where I am unable to look up more than one thing when doing a search through a chat. This is nothing more than the GRU capitalizing on Nostalgia, and using it to Phish for your information WILLINGLY. I would never recommend this app to my worst enemy... Update So the Developer contacts me but gives a blurb to respecting user data control as if it means nothing....when you look at their privacy statement there is a link to the actual privacy policy but guess what...it’s in Russian...Apple should remove this app for that alone, never mind all the Russian Government interference....after all your data is rushing through Russian owned servers....no way to know for sure WHAT the Russian Government owns and has access to, regardless what this developer says. Update 2 So I’ve read the policy - no mention of Encryption, nothing other than they have the right to SELL your data to 3rd parties, nothing about your rights or privacy. Small blurbs on setting your security, but then backhands you and says “it’s your responsibility” everything about it says they are not responsible. In this day and age ANY Company has a burden of protecting your data not selling it all for profit. There is already an app like that, it’s called FaceBook ### 1/5 — Porn Haven *2020-08-23, version 9.3* I read an article that listed ICQ as a great app to reminisce of the chat rooms we used to have back in the early 2000’s. Downloaded the app and soon found out some men use it to prey upon women, to either scam them or for sexual purposes. One man, whom I had to block, added me to a private group chat with over 3k people in it. It’s a private group for the sole purpose of sharing and posting pornography. As I was reporting the images, a thumbnail for a video showed there was a child involved. I reported the chat due to child pornography. This was two days ago. ICQ has not done anything to eliminate the group chat or even the accounts posting the content. Which I also reported. After managing to find someone that could guide me, I was told to contact an ICQ moderator who can delete groups and accounts. But was told ICQ allows this kind of group chats as long as there is no child pornography. Wow! If that’s the case why is that chat still running after reporting child pornography content in it! There are fun group chats. But the fact that the reported content goes unnoticed really bothers me. *Update* It has been a week since the chat and child pornography was reported through the app and after contacting ICQ via email. Name of chat and link for owner of chat was provided. Nothing has been done. Owner posted more child pornography. ### 1/5 — How is it possible? *2019-05-01, version 7.8.1* ICQ was much better 10 years ago. So many unique features have been deleted to add such bs as stickers, etc.. at 1 time you could have multiple identifies under the same account.. you could sign on in invisible mode.. you could then select who could see your status and control who would message you.. sometimes it was nice to just sign in to see what's going on without everyone on your contact list knowing you are online.. bring back the good old days ### 1/5 — Does not work on iPad Pro *2018-07-01, version 7.4.4* Very disappointing. Wanted to switch from Duo and IMO to ICQ but couldn’t for the heck of it made it work on my iPad. Latest iPad, latest iOS! When opening, it had a very thing active strip masking the access to the app, which I finally realized was some writing to link to the Privacy Policy and at the very bottom an accept button. Pressing it, swiping it, nothing let me get past it. .... Deleted and reinstalled, no changes. So I guess I’m stuck with other apps that at least work. P.S. is everybody aware that this is maintained and owned by a Russian Company? ### 2/5 — 2 stars *2018-12-16, version 7.6.3* I think that you should update the app ALOT because there are some chats with nude photos of adults body parts. I’ve had a experience when a girl when on my friends and I chats. And of course that girl was sending nudes and other things that children shouldn’t see. And I’ve had a grown man contact me and send me disturbing pics. But overall the calls and the texts are fast and nice. I’ve give this a 2 because of the porn. ### 2/5 — Was disappointing. *2018-06-24, version 7.4.4* My husband & I are currently in a long distance relationship & have been looking for a good forum for video calling. We’ve used Duo but I want something else bc I don’t like to support Google. Also we had tried Tango in the past but he seemed to remember us having some technical problems. We are usually good at navigating around new apps, but trying to navigating ICQ turned out to be confusing & frustrating. For example, we’d press a ‘button’ thinking a certain action was going to happen but a totally different one would. Also the sound had a significant delay & echo (we’re only a few states apart, not a few countries) which meant I heard everything I said twice. Finally we got annoyed enough to not want to continue & deleted the app. I think we’ll just head over to Skype. ### 3/5 — Crashes or freezes or doesn’t load. *2022-10-31, version 22.8.0* I literally have a iPhone 13 Pro Max and icq has been freezing every 10 minutes when I’m in a group. I cant scroll threw messages but for some odd reason I can back out text or looking at info from the group.
