Stenograph’s iCVNet iPad app provides attorneys and judges instant viewing of realtime deposition and trial transcripts on an iPad. Court reporters using Case CATalyst software can send the realtime text via a wireless network. Attorneys and legal professionals can connect to the reporter’s secure WiFi network to receive, view, mark, search and email the transcript. Once connected, the entire transcript is displayed, even if connecting after testimony has started. The connection is password protected and controlled by the court reporter. The app also uses SSL security to ensure that the realtime data is secure. The court reporter has instant notification of the client’s connection status. Any corrections or edits, big or small, made by the court reporter are automatically refreshed in the transcript. This provides the viewer with the most accurate copy of the transcript possible. Users can easily scroll through the transcript with their fingertip to review previous testimony or use the Search feature to find specific text. They can also tap to mark lines in the transcript if further review or questioning is needed. To return to the current testimony, just tap the Follow Realtime button. When done, email the transcript file to yourself or an associate. It works very well, but some added features would be nice. It shows page and line numbers running on the left side, but a time stamp would also be helpful to refer back to things, as a time reference is usually easier in a quick moment. Also, the text can be a little small, and filling the screen in landscape would be nice for ease of reading. ### 4/5 — Amazing! *2013-11-14* Judges and attorneys are blown away when I provide them an iPad to follow along with the proceedings. Allows the reporter to provide deposition testimony and court proceedings real-time to attorneys and judges on the iPad. It could also be used to provide CART for deaf and hard of hearing individuals. Con: Saves/emails in CaseViewNet file format. This file can only be opened on a PC. So the iCVnet user views the proceedings on an Apple product but cannot go back to the office and open the file on his Mac. ### 3/5 — Ip numbers? *2013-05-17* I am only able to hook up to cvn at work by manually inputting the ip number into my judge's computer.
