### 4/5 — Good but not for short cycles

*2018-11-21*

I like the app because it gives me a range, but because my cycle is shorter (just under the 26 days this app holds as a minimum) it recommends using another app. I wish I had known that going in! (Perhaps it was advertised but I missed it.) other than that it’s useful for keeping track!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback. CycleBeads is based on the Standard Days Method of family planning. This method works optimally for people with cycle lengths in a range of 26 to 32 days. This is a majority of women, but everyone. If your cycles are shorter than 26 days, we do not recommend you rely on it for preventing pregnancy, but it would still be an excellent tool when planning pregnancy. If you have questions, please email us at info@cyclebeads.com.

### 4/5 — Seems accurate

*2018-04-22*

3 month user; so far so good. I like that it indicate the days that my chances of pregnancy are increased so i can plan accordingly. Great tool for those that do not use traditional birth control.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We appreciate your feedback. If you have any suggestions as to how CycleBeads can improve (and maybe earn that 5th star!) we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to contact us at info@cyclebeads.com. Thanks!

### 3/5 — Problem in current update

*2017-10-25*

UPDATE Oct 2017: the latest app update has given me a problem. I have forgotten to record the start my new cycle until today. I entered the correct start date (20 October) and so the beads should be showing that my current cycle is on day 6.... but the beads are showing today as the start of my cycle no matter how hard I try to change it.

Previous to the latest update: This is the only method of tracking my cycle that has really worked for me. It's great!

### 5/5 — Loyal customer

*2017-06-30*

Have been using the app for years. Research is top notch. I trust this app for my birth control needs.

**Developer response:** Thank you. We sincerely appreciate your support.

### 5/5 — So simple

*2017-05-13*

So simple, my husband has the app on his phone as well.

**Developer response:** That's great to hear! Thanks for your feedback.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2017-05-06*

Easy to use, with reminders and suggestions if your cycle is off. Would recommend to friends

**Developer response:** Thanks!

### 5/5 — Nice to have!

**Developer response:** Thank you!

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2017-04-06*

Love this ap.
Super easy to use and clearly explains the logic.

### 4/5 — Very good

*2017-03-17*

Good for preventing pregnancy. The format and presentation is a bit clunky. The ability to write notes could be improved.

**Developer response:** Hi there. Thanks so much for your feedback, we value it and consider it when making improvements to the app.

### 4/5 — Easy to use

*2016-07-15*

I have been using this for over a year. It's sup r easy to use.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your support!

### 5/5 — Love it, works perfectly

*2015-05-15*

Everything I needed.

### 5/5 — Best App Ever!!

*2014-10-27*

This app is amazing! So easy to use. Makes life so much simpler. This app helps me know when my next cycle is due so I'm not caught off guard without protection. It will also let you know when the first and last day of your fertile window is. You can see all of this in either calendar format or on the cycle beads. The system itself is a very reliable method of birth control or family planning. You can have a history report emailed to you whenever you want or see it within the app. Makes it wonderful when you visit your OB/GYN. I am in the late stages of perimenopause so seeing the history of my cycles is a great help! You even get a reminder to record your cycle if you have forgotten. Well worth buying!

### 5/5 — Couldn't be more pleased!

*2013-09-29*

I've used the original Cycle Beads for almost five years now, mostly as a method to track my moods: "Oh, that's why I'm feeling that way..." I was thinking of replacing them (having never removed them, they are getting quite beat up looking!) I noticed the app advertised on their website, and thought it would be a better back up (even though it's become a daily habit, I don't always remember if I already moved the rubber ring to the next day?) It's only been a week, but I love it! I added previous cycles, so it's great to get the bigger picture of how my cycles flow (no pun intended). I think it will be especially helpful as I approach the menopause years...tracking for when I start to become irregular (43 years old now). Today is day 27, and I got a notification that my period might be coming in the next few days...not that I didn't already know it from the way I felt!! But really, this is a very elegant looking app, and the beads have worked for tracking my moods and preventing pregnancy for me for years. I wish it had been around 20 plus years ago; it would have saved me a lot of math headaches. ;)

### 5/5 — Peace of mind but!

*2013-09-23*

All boys must have it on their iPhones, But also be careful bcuz she might still get pregnant couple of days before/after those WHITE circle days!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The worst

*2021-10-09*

Lost my data after years of use. Don’t recommend

### 1/5 — More basic than...

*2018-09-15*

using your fingers to count and significantly more complex. Total waste of money. Carving your cycle into a stone tablet is more current than this app.

### 1/5 — I got pregnant using this app.

*2017-09-07*

After years of meticulous record keeping, and a clockwork like cycle, I took a huge risk and began using this app to chart my fertility and very cautiously had unprotected sex with my longtime partner. And got pregnant within months. It was a happy accident, but definitely NOT PLANNED.

**Developer response:** We're sorry to hear this. While CycleBeads is 95% effective in preventing pregnancy, no birth control method is 100% effective. If you have further questions about the method, please feel free to contact us at Info@CycleBeads.com.

### 1/5 — Waste

*2017-08-27*

Waste of $3. I can select the start date of my most recent period, but I can't actually specify which day it ended? How is that supposed to help when the app automatically assumes it's a 7 day cycle when it's really 6? Want my money back.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. The first 7 days of your cycle marked by colored beads are not your period days, rather days of low fertility. The method requires only period start dates to identify your fertile and non-fertile days, therefore the end date is not requested. You can, however, enter your end date in notes. If you have further questions or would like to request a refund, please contact us at Info@CycleBeads.com.

### 1/5 — Don't purchase

*2012-11-17*

This is a waste of money. So basic. It tells you a lot less than the free apps. It doesn't even personalise your cycle and just goes with a 26-32 day cycle so you have to use protection for a lot more of the cycle than actually necessary.

### 1/5 — Poor

*2011-06-22*

I've never been so torn up about the loss off £1.79. Immediately regretted purchase.

### 1/5 — Waste of money

*2011-01-24*

This application was not what I expected, very awkward to use as well as not efficient for changing the length of your personal cycle, thought this would be a swift using simple and neatly designed application but it really just reminds me of a doctors file on a windows 95 with that horrible colour scheme. Wish I could get my money back, not worth it for £1.79. Probably wouldn't be so bad if it was free because it's got the quality of a free app.

### 2/5 — Data Lost

*2019-10-28*

I’ve been using this app since 2013. I really only used it to help me remember when to expect my period, which was helpful. (I used a different method when my husband and I wanted to get pregnant.) I continued to use the app throughout my pregnancy to keep notes about different milestones of my pregnancy. Of course, I didn’t enter a new cycle date until after my baby was born. When my cycle returned, I entered that new date (about a year after my last cycle) and ALL my previous data disappeared. This had never happened before when I entered new cycles. When I emailed customer support, they said that unless I downloaded reports, there was no way to see previous data. I had used this app for FIVE years and never downloaded reports and could ALWAYS see my previous data. And now when I want to look back at my notes to record some things in my daughter’s baby book, I can’t because for some reason, the app just decided to delete everything. Obviously there was some glitch, yet I’m not thrilled that the “development team” can’t do anything to recover my lost data, apparently. I won’t be using CycleBeads anymore.

**Developer response:** We are sorry that this happened and are looking into it to ensure it won't happen to others. We do not collect personal information from our users which is why we are unable to restore your cycle history. While this is a benefit in terms of privacy, it unfortunately means we don't have your data. Please know that CycleBeads will continue to give you accurate information going forward as long as your cycles have returned to their regular range. 5 years is a long time! We hope you'll stick with us!

### 2/5 — Acceptable.

*2014-05-13*

Ok app, ugly interface. The Email Report button is no longer apparent even though it still exists in the directions. I no longer trust this app, as I cannot tell if my data will be lost.

### 2/5 — Not too helpful

*2013-02-17*

App interface itself is good, but virtually useless if you have long cycles or short luteal phases. Maybe expand research for these populations?

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Just got the App

*2023-10-02*

I just bought this app, how does it work. What does the colors mean?

### 5/5 — Love this tracker

*2021-02-14*

So easy to follow, give you reminders of when your cycle is about begin, fertile and non fertile windows. On point every time.

### 5/5 — This is the best app I have ever used.

*2020-02-23*

It’s so easy and simple to use

### 5/5 — The OG fertility tracker

*2019-09-30*

I’ve been using this app for YEARS and the cycle “bead on a string” method even before that. The app is simple and straight forward. I like that there isn’t a whole bunch of other “filler” junk I would never use like other apps have.

A few things that might make this app better:
1) Instructions on how the cycle bead method actually works and the research behind it. It seems some of the other one star reviews are because they don’t understand how the method works.
2) Updated graphics or the option to change color schemes. While I love the simplicity and reliability of this app, it does look a bit dated.

**Developer response:** Thank you! This is helpful feedback.

### 5/5 — Incredibly accurate app

*2019-05-09*

This app is great and incredibly accurate. I thoroughly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Best app!! 💝

*2018-11-14*

I have been using this app for almost 8 years now. I don’t know how much I paid for it, but it’s worth whatever it costs! It is simple to use and keep up with and is not obtrusive or annoying. And most importantly: it works!!! I have used the app to help us have a baby and also to help avoid pregnancy. I love this app and will continue to use and recommend it! Great big THANKS to the developers! 🏆

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback! We really appreciate knowing how CycleBeads-users are satisfied with the app and the method. We have known that people like the CycleBeads app and use it for a long time, but 8 years -- You may be a record holder!

### 5/5 — Best Alternative to birth control

*2018-07-11*

I have terrible reactions to birth control and was so relieved to find this app. Cyclebeads Fertility tracking has been a great alternative. I’ve been using this app for over three years now and it’s been a simple, so far accurate way to track fertility. I have used it for birth control as well as trying to conceive and both times found it was effective and easy.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We're so happy to hear that. Thanks so much for your feedback!

### 5/5 — Long-Time User

*2018-04-08*

I used this method before it was an app, just the string of beads. It’s been simple and helpful and reliable. Even post-vasectomy, I continue to use it to track my cycle.

**Developer response:** Hi there! We are so happy to hear that CycleBeads has served you well. Thank you for your continued support!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2018-03-23*

The calculations are accurate for 26days cycle.

**Developer response:** Hi there! Thanks so much for taking the time to write this review. We really appreciate your feedback!

### 5/5 — great app

*2017-08-23*

easy to use, my doc recommended and is great!

**Developer response:** Thanks!
