 本应用为红楼梦爱好者特别订制，方便古本脂批红楼梦（78回）以及曹雪芹，高鹗通行本（120回）的比较阅读。本人作为红学爱好者在红楼梦研读过程中，发现通过比较古本和通行本的一些明显的区别非常有趣，越是深入的去研读就越能体会古本红楼梦（78回）的神奇，相比之下，通行本就好比“山寨版”，相形见绌。

 《红楼梦》究竟是谁写的？经过红学一百多年的发展，现在大多数人形成了共识：是曹雪芹写的。那么，曹雪芹留下他的亲笔手稿了吗？很遗憾，直到现在，我们也没能找到他遗留下的亲笔手稿。曹雪芹去世前，他的书稿没有公开出版过。只是以手抄的形式，在小范围内流传。早期抄书的人，应该是出于对书稿的喜爱。曹雪芹去世以后，开始有出于商业目的而传抄的人士了。到了曹雪芹已经去世差不多二十八年左右的时候，出现了一种活字印刷的版本，印书的老板叫程伟元。他把所得到的《红楼梦》手抄本变成了活字摆印本(那时候一般不说“排印”而说“摆印”，因为书坊工人需要照原稿选出字模来一个字一个字地摆放)，使得曹雪芹的这部书能够更广泛地流传。
 所谓古本《红楼梦》，分界线就是程伟元活字摆印本的出现，那以前以手抄形式出现的，都可以算是古本《红楼梦》。程伟元通过活字摆印，大量印刷、廉价发行的《红楼梦》，就是“通行本”的发端。当然，因为那也已经是二百多年前的一个版本了，并且处在一个分界点上，所以，讨论《红楼梦》版本问题时，有时也把程伟元的印本，特别是他第一次印刷的那个版本(红学界称做“程甲本”)，也算到“古本”的范畴，而那以后，特别是道光、咸丰年间开始盛行的《金玉缘》本，就都不能算古本了...
