العلامة الدكتور عبد الهادي الفضلي (1935م- 2013م) أحد الموسوعيين العرب في الحقبة المعاصرة من تاريخ الثقافة العربية والإسلامية، فقيه أكاديمي جمع بين الدِّراستين الشَّرعية وجامعية.

دَرَسَ في الحوزة العلمية في النجف العلومَ الشَّرعية وتخرَّج على يد كبار فقهائها المجدِّدين: كالسيد محسن الحكيم والسيد أبي القاسم الخوئي والسيد محمد باقر الصدر والشيخ محمد رضا المظفر والسيد محمد تقي الحكيم وغيرهم من أعلام الحوزة آنذاك، وبرز فيها كأستاذ للفقه وأصول الفقه والمنطق واللغة و...

كما تخرّج من كلّية الفقه بتخصص اللغة العربية والعلوم الإسلامية، ثم حصل على الماجستير من جامعة بغداد والدكتوراه من جامعة القاهرة، وتلمّذ على أعلام اللغة العربية آنذاك، منهم: الدكتور إبراهيم السامرائي والدكتور مصطفى جواد والدكتور عبد الرزاق محيي الدين والدكتور أمين علي السّيد وغيرهم.

ساهم في تأسيس قسم اللغة العربية في جامعة الملك عبد العزيز بجدّة وعمل أستاذًا فيها لسنوات عدّة.

له العديد من المؤلَّفات في العلوم الشرعية واللغة العربية والثقافة العامة تربوا على الأربعين مؤلَّفًا والعشرات من الدراسات والبحوث والمقالات المتنوّعة.

عُرف كأهمّ مجدِّد للمقرَّرات الدِّراسية في الحوزة العلمية، فدوّن العديد من المناهج الدِّراسية على مدى نصف قرن، شملت شتى العلوم والمعارف التي تُدرس في الحوزة، جمع فيها بين العمق العلمي والأسلوب التربوي.

تُرجم له في العديد من الموسوعات العلمية، وكرّم مرارًا كأحد المؤثّرين في الثقافة الإسلامية والعربية في العصر الحديث.
