## What is 山海经?

在浩如烟海的史书古籍里，有那么一本神奇的书，围绕着它身上的谜团一直没有解开，书中讲的到底是什么？成书于何时？作者是谁？等等一系列的问题，从来都是众说纷纭，却一直没有一个令人信服的答案。

这本书就是《山海经》。

《山海经》与《周易》《黄帝内经》并称我国"上古三大奇书”。

《山海经》是中国先秦重要古籍，也是一部富于神话传说的最古老的奇书。

《山海经》传世版本共计18卷，包括《山经》5卷，《海经》13卷，各卷著作年代无从定论，其中14卷为战国时作品，4卷为西汉初年作品。

《山海经》作为现存最古老的图书之一，它以其图文相辅而行、相互印证的独特叙事风格，开中国古老编书传统之先河。它像一座知识的矿藏，储藏着历史、地理、文学、医学、宗教、民俗、绘画艺术、神话传说、奇闻佚事、杂论等多方面的宝贵知识。

书中的很多山都是在现实中能找到的，而且其所处方位与书中描写基本没有差异，如西岳华山，洞庭湖畔的君山，甘肃境内的鸟鼠同穴山等等。但令人不解的是，书中的另一部分山在现实中却根本找不到，那么这些山是真的存在的吗？如果是真的，那么它们去哪里了？

其次是关于各种异兽的描写，同样也是如此，书中的很多异兽都能在现实中找到，如猩猩，鹦鹉，犰狳，玄龟等等，但更多的是那些让人无法理解的怪兽，如毕方，夔牛，饕餮，烛龙等等。这些生物是真的存在过吗？它们是否还在地球的某个角落里孤独的存在着，不为人类所知？

此外，还有各种关于外邦风土人情的记载、各种神话传说，等等等等，不一而足，都是谜一般的存在。

无论是从书的写作风格还是其涵盖的内容范围来看，《山海经》都是一本写实的书，但其中却出现了如此之多的谜团，正是这本书的魅力所在。
