## What is คำสมาส?

คำสมาส คือ การสร้างคำใหม่ในภาษาบาลีสันสกฤต เช่นเดียวกับคำประสมในภาษาไทย เกิดจากการนำคำบาลีสันสกฤตตั้งแต่ 2 คำขึ้นไป มารวมกันเป็นคำเดียวกันให้มีความหมายเกี่ยวเนื่องกัน คำที่เกิดจากการสร้างคำวิธีนี้เรียกว่า คำสมาส แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ประเภท ดังนี้

1. คำสมาสที่ไม่มีการกลมกลืนเสียง เรียกว่า คำสมาส
2. คำสมาสที่มีการกลมกลืนเสียง เรียกว่า คำสมาสที่มีการสนธิ
