## What is Грамота?

Грамота (Gramota) is an on-device proofreader for Russian that runs entirely on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac.

Native speakers often write "by ear" — and small grammar and spelling slips are easy to miss. Грамота catches and fixes them in seconds, without ever sending your text to a server.

### 1.3 — 2026-07-28

Sharper on mistakes, gentler on your style.

- Run-together «не» is now fixed. Words like «незнаю», «нехочет» and «непоедем» (a «не» glued onto a verb) now get split the way the rule requires. The app learned 22,304 of these merges, including rare ones nothing used to catch. «я незнаю ответ» becomes «я не знаю ответ».
- Your punctuation stays yours. «Ура!!!», «Что???», ellipses and «)))» smileys are no longer flattened into single marks. Грамота fixes errors, not your voice.
- Six new rule classes. Sentence dashes («Москва столица России» → «Москва — столица России»), не/ни confusion («нечего» vs «ничего»), «в течение» vs «в течении», redundant «более» («более лучше»), commas around direct address («Привет Маша» → «Привет, Маша»), and run-together words («уменя», «всвязи», «чтото»).
- Links and addresses are protected. Text inside URLs and e-mail addresses is never edited.
- More robust with text pasted from other apps, plus small interface fixes.

As always, correction happens entirely on your device. Nothing you write is ever uploaded.

### 1.2 — 2026-07-09

A new correction engine, a lighter app, and sharper suggestions.

New correction engine. Грамота now edits your text directly instead of rewriting it, using a new on-device model — so corrections fix mistakes without changing your words or meaning any more than necessary. It's faster too: most corrections complete in a few milliseconds on-device.
Smaller app. Thanks to the new, more efficient model, the app is roughly 800 MB lighter to download and install.
Smarter spelling suggestions. Грамота now catches misspelled or unusual words your dictionary doesn't recognize and suggests the most likely fix — while leaving intentional slang, rare or professional terms, and names alone.
More reliable grammar agreement. Word endings that depend on grammatical case, number, or gender (e.g., воздухом → воздухе) are now corrected more consistently.
Interface polish:
Cleaner header in the corrector view.
Landscape mode: your score panel now stays in view while you scroll the text.
Error categories expand automatically after a check, so you can see what changed right away.
As always, correction happens entirely on your device, nothing you write is ever uploaded.
