## What is Jukbi?

One verse a day. Like the jukbi — the wooden stick that wakes a meditator's shoulder — this app wakes the mind with a single verse from the Dhammapada.

• Today's verse — one Dhammapada verse arrives at the time you choose. Swipe through the cards and keep the ones that stay with you.

• Honest sources — every verse carries its scripture, chapter, and verse number, alongside the tradition it belongs to. The English text is F. Max Müller's translation (1881, public domain), shown with a new Korean translation.

• Mindfulness bell — a digital stick that sounds at the times you set. Three breaths, and the day continues.

• Observance days — Buddha's Birthday, Renunciation, Parinirvana, Enlightenment, and Ullambana, converted from lunar dates and announced in the morning.

• A forgiving streak — rest a day and it carries on. Breaking it is fine too. Beginning again is also practice.

• Share a verse — send a verse you want to keep as a quiet card image.

What Jukbi does not have: accounts, advertising, subscriptions, fortune-telling. Every notification is local and rings only on your device.

Notification permission has moved. Read a verse first, then decide from the home screen whenever you like.

If notifications are off for the app, the settings screen now tells you.
