Shufang is a reader for web novels where you decide the sources. The app ships with no sites built in. It does not recommend, index, or link to any content source — it understands whatever page you paste, and nothing else. Your shelf starts empty on purpose. ■ Teach it a site by pasting one link Paste the URL of any book page. Shufang analyses that page's link structure, works out the book / table-of-contents / chapter URL patterns, and shows you the title, the chapter count and the opening lines of chapter one before saving anything. Confirm, and that source keeps working from then on. ■ Download whole books, read offline Take the whole novel, or tick just the arc you are reading — downloading and deleting both work chapter by chapter. Read on commutes, in flight mode, in dead zones. When you are reading online, the next chapter is fetched before you reach it. ■ Typography built for long sessions Pick any Chinese typeface installed on the device. Independent controls for text size, line spacing and paragraph spacing, and nine reading backgrounds from paper white to pure black. A one-handed control bar, and an option to keep the screen awake while reading. Your position is remembered down to the paragraph, not just the chapter. ■ Search that spans both scripts Type in traditional or simplified — both forms are searched and the results merged, so a traditional query still finds a book indexed in simplified. ■ Continue on another device Bookmarks, custom titles and reading progress sync over iCloud. Chapter text stays on the device it was downloaded to. ■ No data collection No account, no sign-up, no analytics, no ads. What you read and where you stopped never leaves your devices. ■ Sources are portable A derived source is a small JSON file. Share it, or import one someone sends you — one person sets it up, everyone else just receives it. — Shufang does not provide, host, or index any book content. Everything comes from URLs you enter yourself, the same way a browser does. Tap one to return to the sentence you stopped at, instead of hunting for it on the shelf. Choose how many rows it keeps, or clear it, in Settings. ■ Page turns land in one go Tapping to turn no longer stops half way and slides into place a moment later. Scrolled chapters can also reach 100%. ■ Long books stay responsive Contents and download lists of over a thousand chapters draw faster, and the memory a long reading session holds is given back when the system needs it. ### 1.2.1 — 2026-08-17 ■ Progress follows what you can actually see While scrolling, your percentage now comes from the paragraphs on screen. It moves as you read, changes chapter when you do. ■ The contents and the reader agree Opening a book from the contents, or from Continue reading, lands on the paragraph the header just told you about, not half a chapter away. ■ You can go back after jumping After jumping to a chapter from the toolbar, scrolling up or tapping the top edge reaches the previous chapter again. Scrolling fast then tapping the chapter buttons moves one chapter, not several. ■ No stutter at chapter boundaries A chapter is no longer laid out all at once, so the pause when crossing into the next one is gone. ■ Contents order is one small button It sits at the right end of the contents header, shows the direction the list is in, and flips on a tap. ### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-17 ■ Progress down to the paragraph Your shelf now shows the chapter and how far into it you got. ■ Contents that know where you are The chapter you were last reading is pinned at the top. Contents can run first chapter first or newest first, remembered per book. Opening the contents while reading lands on the current chapter instead of chapter one. ■ Controls that stay out of the text Bringing up the controls no longer shifts the line you were reading.
