About
Metrhythm is an ad-free app that brings a metronome, rhythm practice, a tuner, and reference pitches together in one place. Perfect for practicing piano, keyboard, guitar, wind band, and more. No account required.
■ Metronome
Drag the tempo dial to land on the speed that feels right
Tap the number to type a tempo in directly
Tap tempo — it picks up exactly the speed you tap
Time signatures from 1 to 12 beats. Set it to 1 and it simply ticks at even intervals
An accent that changes the tone on the first beat of each bar. You can turn it off
Also shows a pendulum, a marker for the current beat, and tempo markings from Largo to Prestissimo
■ Rhythm practice
Lay out notes and rests, check them on the staff, and hear them right away.
Whole / half / quarter / eighth / sixteenth notes and rests, dots, ties, and triplets
Notes crossing a bar line are split into ties automatically, and eighths and sixteenths within the same beat are joined with beams
Time signatures: 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/8, 5/4
Loop, a one-bar count-in, and the metronome layered on top
Straight to swing, adjustable continuously with a single knob
Save rhythms under a name. Tempo and swing are stored with them, so loading one picks up under the same conditions
■ Tuner and reference pitch
Measures pitch through the microphone and shows the note name and the deviation in cents on a needle
From A1 up to about 1200 Hz. The needle stays still for sounds it can't read
Reference pitch of 440 / 442 / 443 Hz, to match wind band and orchestra settings
■ Choosing the sounds
Sounds are assigned by three roles: beats/notes, accents, and offbeats. The metronome and rhythm practice share the same settings.
11 sounds (three clicks, wood block, rim shot, tick, beep, bell, cowbell, hi-hat, kick)
Volume can be set per role. Turn it all the way down and it goes silent
Use your own sounds too, by importing a WAV from your device or recording with the microphone
Imported sounds can be trimmed to a single hit while watching the waveform. The source is never altered, so you can redo the trim as often as you like
■ How it's built
Both the click and the reference tone are synthesized on the device, on the spot. With no audio files involved, tempo and frequency are built with sample-level precision
Beat positions are the sample positions in the waveform itself. Nothing drifts, however long it runs
Choose light, dark, or system appearance
No ads, no accounts, no usage tracking of any kind. The microphone runs only for recording and tuning, and recordings stay on your device
■ Who it's for
Anyone practicing wind band, band, or piano on their own, or who needs 442 / 443 Hz for orchestra
Anyone who wants to check rhythms on the staff while learning them by feel
Anyone tired of switching between a metronome app and a tuner app
Anyone looking for a tool that doesn't come with anything practice doesn't need
