### 3/5 — Erases data, keeps crashing

*2026-08-05*

Previously I had a problem with this app not displaying a decimal button for dollar amounts. They seem to have fixed this but now the app crashes and loses the data for the record I'm entering - repeatedly. It loses the color and the price and even the title of the item I'm entering. I sometimes have to go in three or four times and make sure that the data is in there, and I have to keep putting it back in before it will save correctly.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your report. We will carry out thorough investigations regarding the decimal point behavior in numeric fields and, if necessary, release an update to address the issue. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience.

### 3/5 — 開けない。

*2026-07-16*

iosアップデートしたら開けなくなりました。困ってます。

### 2/5 — Good App

*2026-06-20*

This is a very good, very flexible, database for keeping track of whatever you may want to track. I use it for automobiles, motorcycles, maintenance, etc. It can easily back up to iCloud or dropbox. A brief pick up with the app not working the developer was responsible and fixed it immediately. I have been using this app since 2015 and it’s a really good simple database, that’s very flexible.

**Developer response:** Hi Pete1115, thanks for the feedback! Please update to the latest version: the issue that blocked access has been resolved, and if you've purchased the app you can keep using it without paying again. Your data always stays yours and you can export it anytime. If anything still isn't working as before, reach out to our support and we'll be glad to help you get back up and running. We'd really appreciate it if you'd update your review once it's sorted. 🙂 All the best, Apimac

### 2/5 — Cannot enter negative number!!

*2026-05-30, version 27*

We can no longer enter a negative number in a number field on the IOS (iPhone) version. Please fix ASAP?

### 2/5 — Broken and forced subscription

*2026-05-26, version 27*

Dropbox tools have not worked at all for sometime now even with the recent update, and now they are forcing a Subscription to use it. This app is getting deleted and leaving an opportunity for a new player to take its place.

### 3/5 — Where's my decimal point?

*2026-05-06, version 26.4*

I have an inventory database and on this latest update the decimal point has disappeared from the field where I put the cost of items I buy.

### 2/5 — Poor Support -App broken

*2026-02-07*

The app has been broken for about a week with no promise fix. The Dropbox tools don’t work. Dropbox updated their app and it broke the linking function of iDatabase. I can’t backup or export my databases. Using iCloud tools are a joke because it puts the files somewhere hidden where they can’t be accessed from the Finder or browsing iCloud. The only support option is a worthless AI chat. 🙄 Besides that, I found the app useful…but now it’s not!

**Developer response:** The Dropbox issue is fixed in the upcoming update, along with several other improvements. Our support team is now also fully available if you need help.

### 4/5 — OK database engine

*2025-07-02, version 9.0*

This is an OK database engine for a flat file structure with limited capacity. Formatting is pretty limited for instance you cannot define a number as currency, just a number and zero digit for that matter.

I have made a long hard search for “simple” databases and this takes the cake. Oh do I wistfully remember the days when Apple’s Bento did everything that this one does and more. It seems that “progress” is moving backwards.

You can’t use the tab key to move between fields, you have to work it like a monkey with your finger or pointer to move fields. This is one basic thing that should be fixed, pronto.

I tried using the iMac version as a trial run. Downloaded OK and APP started up. Ran an import from iCloud and then saw the same databases I have on my iPhone / iPad. Double-click and nothing happens. I want to see that this bit works before I pay for the desktop version.

But oh, Bento was so much better. Formatting of fields, layout precision, tab that works and it was a true multi-user database. iDatabase is a one user only database that can be swapped from device to device. There is no multi-user system and I accept that this will never be on ApiMac’s development radar.

### 3/5 — Only soso

*2025-04-18, version 9.0*

Got it to keep track of people so I can learn names. I don’t want to add them to my contacts. However when you take pics with your phone or import they are so huge and there is no way to edit in the app. A database doesn’t need 15 megapixel photos. So if there was a simple cropping feature and file size reduction it would make the program useful to me. Presently i need to remember to do all editing first and then import. Would love to take pic, import and name. Then later edit and reduce picture file sizes when i am not busy with clients.

### 4/5 — Please fix Dropbox linking

*2025-01-20, version 9.0*

Been using this forever, suits my needs great. But now I can’t backup to Dropbox and can’t link with Dropbox to back up my stuff.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2025-01-20, version 9.0*

I would’ve given 5 stars, but the app is really buggy and exits to my home screen a lot.

### 3/5 — OK database engine

*2025-01-04, version 9.0*

This is an OK database engine for a flat file structure with limited capacity. Formatting is pretty limited for instance you cannot define a number as currency, just a number and zero digit for that matter. I have made a long hard search for “simple” databases and this takes the cake. With a bit of tweaking, it would be even more useful.

The interface is clumsy to work with. You can’t tab between fields, all a tab does is close you entry on the field you are working on. Too much mousing around to get to where you want to be.

### 3/5 — Reasonable but could easily be better.

*2024-11-10, version 9.0*

App itself is pretty good and simple to use however it’s still buggy even after a long release. In the cd collection when you start writing the tracks, after about the 5th track the rest just disappear out of view but do return once you tap to another field. You can search for artists/albums but not individual songs which really lets this useful app down. Come on guys, fix the bugs and allow for searching song titles please. Otherwise great app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Can’t use at all without buying

*2026-06-06, version 27*

I found no way to view app without buying for $60. No sample db. No image of screens. No discussion of flat file or relational. No limited use.

### 1/5 — No longer any use

*2026-05-30, version 27*

Use this app for years but this version refused to load after adding a new book to the database. Absolutely useless and I have now deleted all versions of it and started using Numbers which at least works.

### 1/5 — Was good.

*2026-05-24*

This used to be a pretty decent app, I used it to back up a database I made in the numbers and Excel, for my vehicles just because it was designed for that. I hadn’t used it in a while and opened it today and now they want me to purchase it to even use anything that I’ve been using for years. Not limit some features, totally purchase it to do anything. I would say don’t buy it. I’m going to delete it off of my iPad, iPhone and I’ll continue to use Numbers or Excel. I can make my own data databases anyway.

**Developer response:** Hi Pete1115, thanks for the feedback! Please update to the latest version: the issue that blocked access has been resolved, and if you've purchased the app you can keep using it without paying again. ### 1/5 — Good app, Overpriced

*2026-05-21, version 27*

The app is good, but it still lacks some stability—especially considering the USD 80 lifetime price.

### 1/5 — Used to be free and smooth

*2026-05-20, version 27*

Not sure what happened but after the last update it became slow and glitchy and now it has a few to use. Not worth it.

### 1/5 — App is broken

*2026-05-02, version 26.4*

Bought the app for $1.99, it worked for a while, there was an update and now it doesn’t work. They want us to pay a subscription after we already paid =\

### 1/5 — Disappointed

*2025-06-01, version 9.0*

I started by creating a database - worked. Then I entered some records. Came to look at my records and they were all empty. Suddenly app crashed. Tried again. Picked a record from list which was empty and edited it to enter the data I originally expected. This worked then app crashed. This is version 9.0. Think I’ll write my own it might be easier.

### 1/5 — Outdated Support-Dropbox link doesn’t work-Where is the iCloud backup?

*2024-12-05*

iDatabase is easy to use, allowing users to create files and folders from scratch.

However, the support documentation is outdated, primarily from 2017 and 2018, leaving users to figure things out on their own.

Additionally, while there is a feature to back up to Dropbox, the “Link Account” function is not working. I tested this on an iPhone 16 with the latest iOS and an iPhone 6S running an older iOS, and the issue persists on both devices.

Although the app supports Face ID, I cannot locate any files in my iCloud account after performing an iCloud backup. This raises concerns about where the data is actually being stored—possibly in the developer’s iCloud?

This is an issue that Apple Development should investigate further.

Use at own risk.

I am happy to revise my rating once the Dropbox, documentation, and iCloud issues are resolved.

### 1/5 — Matt Kavanagh

*2024-12-01, version 9.0*

When it works, it’s a great product. It’s not cheap, but I didn’t care because it does exactly what it says. When it works. I currently can’t sync between the MacOS software and the iOS software on both iPhone and iPad. No idea why. The software is up-to-date, the hardware is the latest and the OS is current. This has been going on for a month and despite attempts to get help there is total silence from the developers.

### 1/5 — Version 8.9 is broken

*2024-10-10, version 9.0*

I would not normally post a negative review but as I cannot find a link to support , I am posting this. Update To 8.9 has broken what used to be a very good app. In addition To the loss of the "detail" view already mentioned by Paulus230 (I find it happens when I search), the ability to link to DropBox has been broken and in the iCloud tools, you cannot export as CSV. As the files do not show in iCloud, it is not possible to add a file for importing. I have reverted to version 8.5 until these issues are fixed.

Version 9.0 has only fixed the iCloud issue. Still unable to link to DropBox and the inability to see detail after a search is still there.

### 5/5 — Outdated Support-Dropbox link doesn’t work

*2026-02-03, version 9.0*

It is worth the $0.99 and I would recommend it to friends.

I am able to create backups of iDatabase folders in the cloud and from there Airdrop to my wife’s phone and allow us to have the pw sinc. I can also backup in the cloud.

RECOMMENDED!!!

### 5/5 — Did not work and limited support

*2024-12-27, version 9.0*

Purchased this app today but most of the features do not work (Dropbox linking, exporting / importing to iCloud Drive). Support available is about 7 articles. No way to log support ticket etc. hoping this review might lead to some way to contact and get support!

### 5/5 — Great App

*2024-08-26*

I run an electronics repair service and use it to keep track of my repairs by serial number. The database will pull up by any given word entered into the database. It’s exactly what I needed! Please keep updating the database and never let it fall by the wayside.

Its not justified that its only on ipad and phone.
