They justify by selling you the upgrade leaving you no option to downgrade to previous version. Then one year passed without updates.... I used it occasionally. Sadly I had to delete it today because I can’t use an app I paid for anymore without being extorted. I will never buy an app on iOS ever again. Automatic updates don’t give us option to decline the updates. You guys just become greedy and greedy. If you can’t sustain the costs then you shouldn’t have updated it. Ethically you should have put out a subscription version of your app and should have left this one alone. I will complain to apple and ask for my original payment for this app. Stay away from this app people. ### 3/5 — I thought I had bought this app! *2024-07-31, version 4.1* I bought this App ages ago and used it quite a lot for fun. I was totally surprised on opening it today to find it no longer functioned. So disappointing, yet another app to go down the horrible subscription business model. I’m sorry but so many things are doing this that from a consumer perspective it’s impossible to support. In isolation the cost might be relatively small but subscriptions and other direct debits can add up to quite a large constant stream of money leaving your bank account. Paid upgrades for people who like to control their outgoings would be a more fair arrangement. Also, we should be allowed to keep the last paid to own version of the app. That said, it is a good app,(speaking about the version before the change), with a different approach to drawing from other vector apps, it has a well designed responsive interface. ### 3/5 — Ich wünschte es ließe sich besser damit Zeichnen *2024-07-06, version 4.1* Es fehlt an Objektfang, wenn dann nur zufällig, und stutzen oder dehnen wäre sehr gut. So lässt sich m.E. Nicht genau zeichnen. Momentan werden Objekte durch Ändern mit dem Pencil Pro in eine Richtung geändert, wo es nicht hin soll. Sie laufen aus dem Bildschirm raus. Aber diese App ist in den letzten 10 Jahren ein treuer Begleiter gewesen, der erstmal seinesgleichen sucht. Um schnell mal etwas zu veranschaulichen, skizzieren und planen ist es im Beruf und privat für mich nicht mehr weg zu denken. Vergleichbare Grafik-Apps sind entweder viel teurer, viel zu umfangreich, zu fancy-klickibuntie oder einfach zu schlecht. Danke für iDesign 35€ im Jahr verkrafte ich locker ### 2/5 — Needs much improvement *2024-03-04, version 4.1* What is the purpose of this app ? Vector graphics design or technical drawing ? If its both need to be better at the following 1) Palm rejection very poor. Needs option - to only use apple pencil while drawing as sometimes random lines get drawn by finger when you rest the palm. 2) Snap to objects not good : i have to precisely touch the point of the line to get the snap mark and draw another line. Whats the point of snap then ? This makes the whole process of drawing very slow. Snap should be before you touch the line when the cursor gets near it. 3) Need dialouge box to enter measurements - eg 50 - to draw a 50mm line - essential for technical drawings 4) Continuous insert should be by default on. If i wouldnt have found this feature, i was going to delete the app 5) App crashes when trying to insert an arc 6) Svg files dont open in corel draw. 6) Needs a color wheel and eye dropper to pick colors The Ui is very good, but without these above changes, its a vey poor app ### 1/5 — Paid for it now it’s a subscription *2024-03-02, version 4.1* Bad ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Rip off *2026-08-23, version 4.4.1* Yet another vendor who decided to abandon the people who supported them in the beginning. But restoring my iPad forced an update (so no, I DIDN’T have a choice.) This isn’t even legal. I would be very careful about supporting these people, and we can only hope for a swift bankruptcy and related consequences to their lives for disrupting people’s ability to use the application they paid for. ### 1/5 — Crippled *2026-01-31, version 4.2* I don’t use this app much but used to rely on it for occasional drawings. I may remember this wrong, but I think i paid for it at the time it was for purchase without subscription. Now that I wanted to use it again, the forced subscription turns this into can expensive casual app for me or reduced to be a viewer only. My memory may serve me wrong, but having originally paid for a perpetual app makes this change unacceptable. Why not freeze the original release and introduce an iDesign2 to continue with a subscription. I designed an octagon deck with it and a radiator shroud for my truck. Glad to see the developer is still making updates! ### 5/5 — Amazing Capabilities *2025-07-25, version 4.1* This is pretty amazing for something that runs on an iPad. It took some time to learn how to do everything but it has a great deal of functionality. I’ve used it for engineering drawings, tool design and woodworking projects. Vraiment complet comme app. On y retrouve la presque totalité des fonctions d'un programme professionnel de DAO. Je l'utilise depuis plusieurs années et cette app m'étonne encore de par ses capacités. SINCÈREMENT, NE VOUS FIEZ PAS AUX COMMENTAIRES NÉGATIFS ! Manche Logik erschließt sich einem nicht, manche Fangpunkte werden nicht erkannt und kleine Bugs lassen mangelnde Produktpflege erkennen. Always been very happy with it. Recently, after a new update, I came across an issue that made my projects much harder. I contacted support and was very promptly contacted and the issue was very quickly addressed and fixed in another update. Though this program used to be free, it is of such value to me that paying for it now is well worth it. Very highly recommended! ### 5/5 — Backup before loading subscription version *2023-09-07, version 4.0* Apparently updating to the subscription version will delete all the files stored on the iPad. Move to cloud or email to yourself to avoid loosing your files. However for reasons unknown in my case after two days all my old files showed up in “recent” files and hence were recovered. Not sure if a backup is made by touchware for the update or not. Anyway all is well now. At any rate love the app. I have been using it for ten years for furniture design, RC model aircraft drawings and illustrations, and in re-rendering a 7 color club logo after the original art work was lost and only low resolution pictures could be found.
