However you definitely eventually ‘beat’ it. Once you get to around 2.5k steps you pretty much have done all the achievements and unlocked all of the skull/heart upgrades. The game hasn’t been updated in 3 years so it’s basically in its final state. The leaderboard says that 3k to 4k is the highest step count. Unless you want to get on the leaderboard, once the game is done, it’s done. Very unusual for an idle game to have an ending and kind of sad because i was enjoying it. But as long as you know that going in, you should be fine. ### 5/5 — Solid clicker with minimal need to pay *2022-03-01, version 1.20* You can play for a while for free. Don’t ever buy consumables or weekly deals. Eventually you will want to pay 10-15 $ for the permanently unlockable characters. Then you are set. Wish the developers updated and added more dialogue, and maybe just more characters or more ways to play. Still an incredible game, very fun to collect skins, permanent heroes, and permanent items. Currently at prestige level 17, once you get to the higher levels those events become so much fun. ### 4/5 — Enjoyable yet buggy. *2021-07-16, version 1.20* It’s a fun idle game. I think almost every thing is free with the exception of boosters. My only real gripes about it is that when you watch an ad, you get this “bash” sound effect. It sounds similar to when a brawler punches a hero but it’s about 5 times louder and it repeats the longer your on after watching the ad, while progressively getting louder. If you stay even longer it gets louder and it sounds like somebody is breaking your phone. So it starts off as one hit then the next time it’s two hits, etc. Getting rid of the people in town does not make it go away. The idle mechanics are fun and enjoyable instead of being boring and drawn out. The graphics and story are also very enjoyable. I got a new phone and rediscovered it later and it’s still awesome. Only thing is, I’m curious of how the coin collecting system works; is it the level of your heroes, total DPS, or enemy health that determines the value of the coin? Either way, this is a great game. I just can’t stop playing, I don’t want to play a console or computer game. Just this one. It is a lot of fun and had a solid progression system, but after a few prestige resets it started getting too repetitive. I have recently started playing some more on a regular basis and it is still pretty fun and a good idle time waster. I also really enjoy the silly banter the characters talk to each other. If you like idle progression games, give this a try. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Buggy Game *2018-10-17, version 1.18* This isn’t the only review like this. The game has problems with deleting your progress. When I downloaded the game, I read some reviews about people losing a couple hours worth of gameplay when logging out or “switching” in the game. I played for about 10 minutes and then logged out, it seemed like it could be kind of fun but when I logged back in a little bit later, it was as if I made no progress, LVL 1 still. I wish it didn’t bug out like that, I might have enjoyed it. ### 1/5 — Saving issues are a deal breaker *2018-09-15, version 1.18* Like many others here, I really enjoy Idle Armies and even bought the golden devil to support the devs. The game has solid mechanics, witty writing and addictive gameplay. It has everything you could ask for in an idle game. I would easily give this game 5 stars but for one glaring issue. Lately though, whenever I go on, I find that I’ve lost most of my progress from the previous time I played. It’s really demoralizing and makes me not want to play anymore. It was fun while it lasted but I can’t justify playing again until this glitch gets fixed. ### 1/5 — Saving Issues making it unplayable. *2018-02-01, version 1.18* Let me say first that I really love this game. It’s one of the better idle games that I’ve played. The battles/different armies add replay ability and is very different than other idle games. The weekly events are nice feature, as well. But literally everyday I have an issue where my progress isn’t saved. It’s so frustrating to continue just to start farther back than I did earlier. Because of that, the game is just unplayable to me. Hopefully, they’ll find a fix as I’ve read from past reviews that this has been an issue. ### 1/5 — Poor *2018-01-12* Resets progress every time the game is closed. ### 2/5 — Ok game but be carful paying. *2022-06-18, version 1.20* Its a fun game to play idle. But be warned. I bout the $5.99 double hold and no ads. But ads are still there. I have to watch ads to claim any of my rewards. Developers fix this and be true to your word of no ads and review ratings would change or give refund for lying to people. ### 2/5 — Annoying bug *2019-01-09, version 1.18* The game is fun as far as idle/clicker games go, but every single time I close out of the game I lose at least 20 levels. I’m constantly being set back so it makes playing in short burst pointless because by the time I get to the point I was at previously, I need to close the game again. Thus losing all progress I made. If this bug can be fixed then that would be great. ### 2/5 — Fun game but stats reset everyday *2018-04-19, version 1.18* I love this game a lot. It combines everything that I love: upgrading, fighting, and tap games. But the only issue that I have with it, and it’s a major issue, is that your progress is erased every day and you have to start over each time. It even took away the Golden Devil that I bought and paid for using real money. For that reason alone I should give this 0 stars, but it’s such a good game and I have high hopes that the developers will come through with a solution. ### 3/5 — Great game, wish the ads worked *2024-09-09* This game is great, I really enjoy the game play and the little comments the characters make as you play. Interesting premise and entertaining! I do wish the ads worked, I’ve had it happen repeatedly where I try to watch an ad to get my 4 hour boost and nothing happens. Or it lets me watch an ad and doesn’t actually reward me. I’ve missed out on too much because of that glitch and would give it 5 stars if it wasn’t for that ### 3/5 — Fun game but annoying. *2020-12-30, version 1.20* This idle game is one of my favorites because of the fact that you can control both the heroes and the villains. This would be a five star game if the game didn’t reset you every time you close out of it. I had put 23+ hours into this game aver that span of a week and then I had to restart my phone and the game reset EVERYTHING. ### 3/5 — So much fun but won’t save *2019-01-24, version 1.18* I really love this game. It’s so much fun and the things the characters say is hilarious. I give it three stars because sometimes it won’t save so you’ll lose hundreds of steps and time. I hope this gets fixed and it will get a five star rating. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Funny dialogue *2024-08-05* The dialogue spoken amongst the characters (whether amongst themselves, the whole group, or in response to the dialogue above them) is very funny and makes me laugh every time. I enjoyed the game itself as a whole. Being able to upgrade your characters and their abilities was very important to progressing, especially as you get higher up. ### 5/5 — Best tapper game *2023-10-14* Lately I’ve had nothing too do on my phone and found this game I highly recommend people to play this game I originally thought this was just going to be some tap game filled to the brim with adds but when I first started it was enjoyable the upgrades were balanced to get, about then I realized that it had a general story lol Anyway this is probably one of the best rapper games I’ve played ### 5/5 — GR does not miss *2022-10-14, version 1.20* The games they make, including this one, are pretty decent time-passers. The sorts of games that are perfect when you're stuck in a waiting room or just want to pass a few minutes. What sets them apart, and guarantees that I'll be a loyal fan, is the writing. It is some of the best writing in a video game I've ever seen and the fact that it is all in service of idle-clicker games blows me away. Are there bugs, errors, things that detract from the experience? Sure. But nothing that breaks the game. Additionally, it has the best "free-to-play" model I've ever seen. Sure, you could spend money to improve your experience in game but you could, just as easily, get the same basic bonuses from just playing a bit more. But getting back into it now, such a good game. I have a couple suggestions though. 1. Please add more variety to the dialog. 2. My screen keeps on freezing every… 60 seconds and then comes back on after 5 seconds.
