## What is iFITS?

iFITS brings FITS images, the standard file format of astronomy, to iPad and iPhone. Open 2D images and 3D data cubes straight from the Files app, then explore them with touch, Apple Pencil, keyboard and trackpad.

VIEW
• Pinch to zoom and pan smoothly, even on large images
• Choose from scientific colormaps, invert them, and adjust scaling and value range
• See each pixel's coordinates and value as you move

ANNOTATE
• Write and draw on your image with Apple Pencil
• Annotations are saved inside the FITS file, so they travel with your data

REGIONS & STATISTICS
• Draw regions and get instant statistics: mean, median, standard deviation, sum and more
• Import and export regions as DS9 Regions files (.reg)

DATA CUBES & SPECTRA
• Step through channels of a data cube
• Plot the spectrum of any pixel or region, overlay up to ten spectra, and zoom with pinch or trackpad
• Pop the spectra out into their own window with iPadOS multitasking

3D AND AR
• View your whole cube as a 3D volume and turn it with your fingers
• Place the cube in your room with augmented reality

SHARE & EXPORT
• Share the FITS file, or export the image, spectra or 3D view as PNG or JPEG on a white background, ready for slides and papers
• Undo and redo, with autosave you can turn off

iFITS is free, open source (MIT) and collects no data. No account, no ads, no tracking.
