### 4/5 — Good App besides price

*2025-12-05*

While i can’t fault the dev for wanting money for their work, its just not a lot of features that you get without premium. But possibly the best app of its type on mobile

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words and honest feedback. We understand the concern about pricing: keeping the app current and continuing to develop it takes ongoing work, and paid access is what makes that possible. We're confident it's worth it for IFR training, and there's a free trial so you can explore the full app before committing. Questions or suggestions are always welcome at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 4/5 — Near perfect

*2025-05-19*

Amazing UI and easy to comprehend solutions, perfect for simulating IFR environments. My only complaint is the price of the extra features. Albeit not needed, some looser restrictions on premium items would be nice. It would also be cool to see accomplishment or finish screens to actually know when you’ve completed it correctly.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words and the thoughtful feedback. On pricing: keeping the app current and developing it further takes ongoing work, and paid access is what makes that possible. We think it's worth it for serious IFR training, and a free trial lets you explore everything before committing. The idea of completion or accomplishment screens is a good one and we've noted it. Feel free to send any further suggestions to support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 3/5 — Needs improvement and more features

*2023-10-01*

I’ll start out with the positives. It is very intuitive and the UI is great. I just wish there was more thought into anything but holding. Don’t get me wrong, that part is great, but why even market “approaches and departures” if fixes aren’t modeled? I tried to fly a simulated NOTWN5 departure out of VGT and I chose the “takeoff” option. It spawned me at 3,500 feet and 200 knots (1,300AGL) and so that made it pretty tough to simulate flying the procedure in a GA airplane.

I’d highly suggest you tone down the speed minimum (maybe to 60?) so it can appeal to a wider audience… I’d guess that 90% of the people using this app are instrument students who fly airplanes that approach much slower than 80. I’d also really like to see a more intuitive departure algorithm, maybe it starts at 100AGL and 70 knots instead of 1,000AGL and 200? Or give the option to modify how it starts you. Not to mention adding fixes.

Or even a VERY BASIC “breakout” view. I tried to shoot an ILS and you can basically just descend into the runway until it tells you that you’ve crashed. Maybe at minimums a pop up appears that let’s you choose wether to land or to go missed.

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback.

We appreciate your insights and suggestions. We understand your concerns regarding the current speed limitation. In holdings and intercepts you are already able to lower the speed down to 90kt which will be added to Free Flight as well in a future update.

Unfortunately, a breakout view is not possible as the app does not feature 3D graphics. But your suggestion concerning a landing or goaround popup are understood. Also, a radio altimeter is planned which will display the height above the ground. Furthermore, a goaround can always be initiated yourself by increasing the V/S to a positive rate.

Your feedback is essential for us to enhance the app. Stay tuned for updates as we work to address these issues and improve your experience. If you have more ideas or feedback, feel free to reach out.

### 4/5 — Has potential

*2023-05-20*

This app definitely has great potential in helping pilots and aviation enthusiasts improve and revise their knowledge. Some functions are still missing tho. Adjustable Range rings would be a neat feature to have!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the kind words and the suggestion. Adjustable range rings would be a useful addition, and we've noted the idea. If you have more feedback or run into anything, feel free to reach out at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 3/5 — Is there a way to win?

*2023-04-26*

I like the game and i do need practice but i was expecting a win screen or a way or complete the task

**Developer response:** Glad the app is useful for your practice. It's a training simulator rather than a game, so there's no "win screen" as such: the goal is to fly procedures correctly and improve over time. The Flight Log and Debrief feature lets you review every flight with a full replay and needle overlay, which is a good way to measure your progress. If you have questions on how to get the most out of it, feel free to reach us at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 5/5 — Love the concept!

*2023-03-19, version 0.4.37*

Recommended for anyone training for their IFR or just trying to refresh their skills. It’s minimalistic and to the point design makes it very phone friendly. Highly recommended!

### 5/5 — A really fun game

*2023-01-22*

I just found it one day and got addicted

**Developer response:** That's great to hear, welcome aboard! If you ever have questions or want to share feedback, feel free to reach out at support@ifrsimulator.com.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-04-17*

Not only is this app terrible, but after using several apps for my flight training over the past few months, I recently realized that the developer blatantly copied (and did a poor job of it, by the way) the website of ATC One. As a developer, that’s extremely unprofessional. I’ve already reported this to the original app’s team.

As a CFI, I would not recommend this app to anyone—especially considering the creator’s lack of integrity in copying others’ work. It seriously calls into question whether this app was built by real pilots at all, which makes it even less trustworthy.

**Developer response:** The copying claim is incorrect. IFR Flight Simulator was developed independently and has been on Google Play since 2017 and on the App Store since 2022, which predates the app referenced here. The two apps also cover entirely different subjects: IFR flight procedures versus ATC radio communication. We encourage anyone interested to try the app and judge it on its own merits.

### 1/5 — Requires purchase

*2026-01-24*

App states “in app” but after a short trial period, your subscription begins. No free trial unless you sign up.

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. Just to clarify, the app does include a free trial so users can explore it before any subscription begins. If anything was unclear or did not work as expected, please feel free to contact us at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 1/5 — Almost unable to use

*2025-05-31*

99% of the game features requires you to pay a premium subscription

**Developer response:** We understand the concern about pricing. Keeping the app current and continuing to develop it takes ongoing work, and paid access makes that possible. We're confident it's worth it and a real help for IFR training, and there's a free trial so you can explore everything and see for yourself before committing. If you have questions, reach us at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 1/5 — 太贵了

*2024-06-14*

86$，学生承担不起

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback — we understand that pricing can be a concern, especially for students. We try to keep the core features accessible for everyone, while the premium version helps support continued development. We appreciate your input and will keep affordability in mind as we move forward. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 2/5 — Good but Overpriced

*2026-07-13*

Yes it’s a good app (although a bit out of date referring to NDBs and VORs. But way overpriced for why it is. Why is even a subscription? Subscription apps are for where information is constantly changing or updating. $5 per month just to be able to use it is crazy.

**Developer response:** Thanks for the honest feedback. Keeping the app running on current devices, maintaining real-world navdata, and continuing to develop new training features is ongoing work, and the subscription is what makes that possible. We genuinely believe it's worth it as a training tool and that it's far cheaper than even a single sim session, but there's a free trial so you can weigh that up for yourself before committing. If you have questions or suggestions, feel free to reach out at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 2/5 — Cant use basic IFR functions

*2025-06-28*

For the free flight mode I am unable to tune direct to waypoints to join holds and conduct full approaches

**Developer response:** Tuning navaids and joining holds from Free Flight mode is supported, so something sounds off on your end. Please send us the details at support@ifrsimulator.com, including your device and app version, and we'll help you get it working.

### 3/5 — Good in general

*2026-07-14, version 1.25.9*

The app is good in general, but it positions your aircraft a,ready aligned with the solution. I wish it was giving you random positions and you would have to figure out how to set up your instruments yourself.

### 3/5 — 3/5

*2026-07-04*

very helpful for practice, but some essential features are only available for premium subscribers...

**Developer response:** Glad to hear it's been helpful for practice. Keeping the app up to date and continuing to develop it takes ongoing work, and paid access is what makes that possible. We're convinced it's worth it for IFR training, and there's a free trial so you can explore everything before committing. If you have problems claiming the trial, please reach us at support@ifrsimulator.com and we will help you with that.

### 3/5 — Almost really good

*2025-08-28*

A clever and helpful app that is let down by impossibly fiddly controls. It takes 5-10 attempts ever get the heading to actually change

**Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you found the app helpful overall. The heading control problem has since been fixed, and we appreciate you taking the time to point it out. If you have any other questions or feedback, feel free to reach out at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 3/5 — Good app but extremely expensive

*2023-10-09*

Good app that can be improved for those who needs to review holding entries but pricing is extremely expensive

**Developer response:** Glad the holding entry trainer is useful for your training. We understand the pricing concern: keeping the app current and continuing to develop it takes ongoing work, and paid access is what makes that possible. We're confident it's worth it as a training tool, and there's a free trial so you can explore everything before committing. For questions or suggestions on improving the holding trainer, feel free to reach us at support@ifrsimulator.com.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Très bonne appli pour réviser

*2026-08-10*

### 5/5 — Review

*2026-06-22*

Fantastic way to experiment and visualise the initial IFR manoeuvres. Solid updates (modern vs traditional instruments) and additions of new exercices (dme arc)
10/10 would recommend for practice and visualisation

**Developer response:** Really glad the DME arc trainer and the switchable instruments are hitting the mark for you. Thanks for the kind words and the recommendation, they mean a lot. If you ever have suggestions for what to add next, drop us a line at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 5/5 — I wish I had this as an IFR student

*2024-12-09*

Just found out about this app and have it a shot. I already hold an IFR rating so I see no need to buy the plan, but man, just going through the free holding and track/intercept practice makes me wish I had this in my training.
I definitely would’ve bought a plan and it would’ve made it so much easier (especially with unpublished holds which I sucked at lol).

Now I just use it to maintain my own proficiency when I’m not flying. Thanks for making this incredible app!

**Developer response:** Really appreciate you sharing that, and glad the holding and intercept practice are useful for staying current. Unpublished holds trip up a lot of pilots, so it's great to hear the step-by-step approach helps. If you ever have questions or suggestions, reach us at support@ifrsimulator.com.

### 5/5 — Absolutely brilliant

*2024-03-18*

As a young aspiring aerospace engineer, this app is such a unique and useful tool for getting a sense of flying on instruments alone. It could likely be used also as a demonstrative aid for those who suffer from a fear of flying. Excellent stuff, and kudos to the developer(s).

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, TheUglyPirate! We're glad to hear the app is useful for your aerospace engineering studies and as a tool for those with a fear of flying. We appreciate your support and are here if you need any assistance.

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2023-05-02*

I am currently training for my Instrument Rating, and my FI recommended this app to me. I am so impressed by this app; I didn’t think such a high quality, useful training tool was possible as an app. An incredible training tool with particular regard to VOR bearings, practicing holds and command headings.
