### 2/5 — Constantly crashes

*2024-04-08*

This app hits and misses. My first and utmost concern is that it keeps crashing after 5 minutes in audiobus3 or when being played with background audio on my iPad Pro 2022. Yes I have updated my iOS. Good sounds, not great, however missing guitar feel like guitar and sliding noises. Needs a lot of work to make this guitar app sound expressive and authentic. Barely 2 star rating. Avoid till developers address these important issues.

### 2/5 — Update For iOS 17

*2023-12-28*

PLEASE?!!!!!!!

### 2/5 — Needs better testing

*2023-12-14, version 4.0*

So after 5 years of neglect this finally gets AU3 support. Rebuilt from the ground up, they said. Then I tried to use it as an AU3 in AUM (one the most popular IOS music apps) and found that iFretless would not load. So I preloaded it and tried again. It still would not load. )-: Then I rebooted the iPad and tied again. AU3 still did not work under AUM. This is on a new iPad Pro with the latest IOS and latest AUM. Not impressed.

### 4/5 — PLEASE UPGRADE ME

*2023-05-12*

Come on guys…it can’t be that hard as the rest of the suite is up today date. This app is a god one too!

### 4/5 — Please update like the others

*2022-10-08, version 3.7.7*

Sure, I was just about given up hope, but if by some miracle you could give this app, at least the size enhancement at the others have it would be so appreciated as I still like to use it, and I own all of them

### 3/5 — Any update?

*2020-11-18*

All the other « Ifretless series » were updates but not Ifrettless guitar...

### 3/5 — Need update for ipad pro

*2020-09-24*

Does not work well on ipad pro / IOS14! Config right panel disappeared when closed and cannot show up anymore... pls update since nothing new for more than two years now!!!

### 4/5 — Perfect, small user string tuning issue

*2019-09-14*

So, this is the best along with the fret less bass app. The only thing is the guitar tuning with multiple strings gets wonky. It’s hard to explain but if you go up or down octaves or steps the relationship between the strings changes in a different way than a guitarist would normally want. The all 4ths and 5ths work perfectly in this regard as there is not that pesky guitar interval on that 3rd from high test string. I hope this can be fixed more or less if I even described it properly.... cheers great tapping boards!

### 4/5 — Can the recordings be longer than 30 seconds

*2019-09-09*

It’s pretty I love the Strats and being able to slide and vibrato and bend notes but the recordings are only 30 seconds long and would be cools if they could be limitless in length.

### 3/5 — Auv3 !!!

*2019-06-17, version 3.7.7*

Auv3 pleaseeee

### 3/5 — Not AU

*2019-04-18*

If you use AU, this is not for you.

### 5/5 — It’s a Midi Controller With Touch Sensitivity!!!

*2019-03-05*

I already loved this app before I new it could control other apps and allow touch sensitivity when playing those apps. This app and the other iFretless apps are the only apps currently on an iPad that offer touch sensitivity when using the touch screen. All other synths require an external controller to access touch sensitivity.
If you want to have this feature without having to hook your iPad to an external controller then this is the app you need.

### 5/5 — Yeah, you should get it, if...

*2018-10-02, version 3.7.7*

If you are looking for an expressive playable software guitar. iFretless bass is my favorite of this collection and I use the bass app for clean guitar parts due to it’s flexibility. This app is still great and you can run it through other amps and efx besides the ones that came with the app. The quality of this collection of apps is such that one should get the entire collection. With some practice, very good and convincing music can be made!👍🏾

### 2/5 — Sounds great but iaa and midi is broken in Auria

*2017-06-30*

Sounds great but iaa and midi is broken in Auria Pro.
No sounds no playing while other programs work fine and play nice.
Please fix midi in and IAA for Auria. Also add AU audio units please

### 1/5 — ZÉRO !!!!!!!!

ZÉRO SOUND REAL TRASH !!!!!!!

### 1/5 — No updates?

*2022-08-03*

This app hasn’t seen updates in over 3 years. At least make it compatible with the latest versions of iOS. We are basically at iOS 16 now — so your app may not function to due to a lack of support. It would also nice to see updated features. Thanks!

### 1/5 — Gros bugggg

*2022-02-20*

### 1/5 — Do not spend any money on this!

*2017-06-28*

Could be a nice app, but the “user support” is a real nightmare.
One of the last updates messed up the app completely: audio output of the device will be muted as soon as you start this app. Only a restart of the device will bring audio output back.
I have contacted the support and asked them to fix this. They didn’t even bother to apologize and told me straight away that they will not fix it for some (obviously made up) reasons. End of discussion.
This is the most rude and unprofessional “support” I have ever encountered.

### 1/5 — Not bad, but...

*2016-04-16, version 3.7.3*

Upd. to latest version: No sound at all! iPad Air, iOS 7.1.2.

The app lacks for some essential features:
1) "hammer on" and "pull off" switching on/off,
2) attack and release times adjustment,
3) other guitar techniques as "palm muting",
4) remembering settings of a last session.

Upd.: Developer seems to be too lazy to make REAL improvements.

### 1/5 — Not so good

*2016-02-19*

Not a great app for the money.

### 1/5 — Piano slash want to be guitar

*2015-01-18*

Looks like a unfinished app that started with a great idea but never took off, really not much different sounds here, the guitar sound they have sounds like a piano trying to sound like a guitar, yes sliding your finger up and down is cool but this app is no more worth than a buck

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — The only auv3 guitar that can be actually used professionally on IOS.

*2025-11-20*

This review isn’t from some tester, that got the app for free and gives the dev 5 stars, this is a straight forward love letter to the dev bc it’s the only (that I know of as of November 2025) that can be used as a KILLER electric guitar used in recording guitar parts for Heavy Metal tracks.

So when I’m on my iPad Pro late at night around 12am (where honestly I spend most my time laying down demo tracks) when the house is all quiet, kids are sleeping, dogs are stretched out at the foot of the bed or sharing my pillow that’s when I can pop my Sony Studio over the ear headphones on, and quietly start working away on laying down the tracks that have been buzzing in my head all that day! With my wife snoring away beside me.
I will open Logic Pro, where earlier that day I had maybe laid down some guitar riffs that were trying to come out, or a bass part that was bouncing around in my head. I will open a drum channel and use the pads to lay out the drums.
I will most the time start layering guitar work.

Because it’s late and I don’t want to wake the whole house up, I will open iFretless Guitar and click on my own preset that is basically “DI” or direct in, it has no effects, the strings are just being sounded without the acoustic effect, no reverb, no delay, no additives! The guitar sound at this point sounds like my Les Paul Custom ‘57 reissue just being plugged into a direct box. Once I hear that unaffected guitar, I will open the auv3 effects and click the Rhino guitar amp, and dial in a KILLER no Mid range, boosted highs and lows amp. I just use this distortion effect through the bus so it’s not recorded with the effect (but my ears hear it as I lay down the guitar track. (This is done in case I want to change the distortion sound later in post production)

But this is the only app on iOS that I know of, that I can play as a killer sounding electric guitar, because of the clean and un-effected sound coming for the string in this Blue Mango app.

YES, yes, I know GuitarMistro, and I can always use the SF2 files that are on the web, and DS (decent sampler) has some good guitar sounds that are available. But none of them allow me the option to play and use the fretboard that sounds so dang good when adding distortion, dialed into MY sound!

Thank you guys so much for this!

Ps I do not understand why iOS doesn’t have apps like the programs on my Mac, apps like Odin and some of the other KILLER guitar apps like “HellRazor” and even a ton of the Kontakt programs.
Someone PLEASE make a killer 7 string Metal Guitar… there are so many IOS Metal heads that need REAL instruments for their tracks.

### 5/5 — iFretless Apps open up a whole new world of Instruments + MIDI for Guitarists and Bassists!

*2025-02-26*

iFretless Apps open up a whole new world of Instruments + MIDI for Guitarists and Bassists! Each iFretless app gives you the ability to play countless lead instruments (Guitars, Brass, Horns, Bass or ANY MIDI instrument) - All without having to learn keyboard!

The sounds built into these apps are top notch! The flexibility to setup the number of frets and strings and the note offset between strings is a game-changer!

Do you want to instantly apply your skills as a bassist or guitarist to ANY instrument? Would you like to perform a sax or trumpet solo from your virtual bass on the screen? Easy/peasy!

Do you just want to play along with some tunes while you on the move? Piece of cake!

Would you like to play a local or remote synthesizer from your familiar fretboard instrument? This is an essential app to help make that happen!

I’ve wait for an instrument app like this for YEARS!
For the lowest possible latency use wired headphones (but it works with Bluetooth headphones as well).

Just TRY it!

### 5/5 — Great update! Most authentic…

*2024-06-29*

…guitar emulating experience of one’s that use a touch screen. It certainly helps to have the musicality to play it like a guitar is played because you can do some things with the app that is not possible with a guitar. Strumming is tricky and unique to this instrument though. You have to come up with a strumming technique that works for you. It’s strength is in tapping styles. It’s great on its own, but also great to control pianoteq’s physically modeled guitar with mpe capabilities.

### 5/5 — Thank you SO MUCH!

*2023-12-19*

I have been waiting for this update for a long time - finally a good guitar “synth” / romplr / physically modeled (?) instrument.

I love iFretless - trust me when I say this - you won’t regret your purchase.

One suggestion I would add for this particular iFretless:

It would be nice to be able to strum coords too - perhaps a section of the string-board could be strummed (effectively playing loose strings too); this would be massive (look at Steel Guitar Pro for a reference of what I mean - they have the completely opposite setup - practically, you can only strum coords on their string-board.

A controller like yours which also allowed strumming would be the perfect guitar controller. As of right now this is 95% perfect 😜😄🙏🏼.

Thanks for this wonderful update - seriously - can’t wait for your next release!

### 5/5 — YOU GUYS ROCK!

*2023-12-16*

Thanks for bringing back what was a great part of the collection. It’s vastly improved and a great combo of usability and design. Kudos!

### 5/5 — Great. Needs beats

Great. Needs drum machine beats

### 5/5 — Dear Mani Consulting Limited Company!

*2020-08-09, version 3.7.7*

Once again thanks for the beautiful iFretless apps, they are amongst my favorites and I CANNOT wait for this one to become AUv3 too. It is fantastic and could really use an update.

I do hope you will consider the idea of being able to play the strings of the guitar (and for iFretless Bass too) without playing ANY frets. Garage Band used to have this functionality before, not sure if it still has. Essentially, playing the strings from the right side would trigger the sound of the string itself without it being pressed on a fret. I’m sorry if I am not explaining this in the best way, I’m not a native English speaker but I hope you understand me.

This is really one of the few things missing on the iFretless apps.

The other one i’d really appreciate (especially for phone users) would be a way to lock the rotation of the UI of the AUV3 as for example AUM forces iPhone users into portrait mode which is not ideal for iFretless apps. If I lock my rotation, Ifretless becomes unusable as a screen controller. This isn’t such a big deal, but being able to lock the rotation of the AU would also allow us to grab the phone “upside down” as if it was an actual guitar (having the screen pointed outwards from the user essentially), which imo is amazing.

The reason why I know this is because on ApeMatrix (since UI works differently) this can be done, and it is by far my favorite way of playing iFretless apps.

Wonderful company! Keep up the AMAZING APPS!!! 🔥🔥

### 5/5 — Lap Steel / Dobro Tunings?

*2020-01-21*

Bought the bundle after messing around with Bass Guitar One.
I’m enjoying them all. Thank you!
Wishlist: Add open tunings with 6th, 7th and 9th extensions to make the apps more awesome!

### 5/5 — Bella

*2019-04-20, version 3.7.7*
