## What is iGlaucoma?

Il Glaucoma è una delle tre principali cause di cecità nel mondo occidentale. E’ provocata generalmente da un aumento della pressione intraoculare, che porta gradatamente negli anni alla perdita della vista in modo irreparabile, danneggiando il nervo ottico e riducendo progressivamente il campo visivo. Nella maggior parte dei casi la diagnosi di questa malattia viene fatta del tutto casualmente nel corso di una visita effettuata per altri disturbi. Il glaucoma rappresenta pertanto una malattia con una rilevante importanza sociale, in cui la prevenzione gioca un ruolo fondamentale. 

La App iGLAUCOMA, disponibile per tutti i mobile device, e dedicata al monitoraggio ed al controllo dei sintomi legati al Glaucoma. 

SIGLA è un'Associazione senza fini di lucro che ha per scopo il favorire lo scambio di informazioni, conoscenze ed esperienze riguardanti la ricerca, la diagnosi, l'epidemiologia, le terapie mediche, le tecniche chirurgiche e parachirurgiche, i problemi medico legali e i risvolti sociali riguardanti la malattia glaucomatosa e le tematiche ad essa correlate. Inoltre si propone di stimolare e dare supporto scientifico alle ricerche sull'argomento, condotte sia da persone fisiche che da enti pubblici o industrie, proporsi come "rappresentante ufficiale" per fornire ai competenti organi legislativi, ministeriali e amministrativi una consulenza specifica sul glaucoma e sull'organizzazione di eventuali centri di riferimento per tale malattia ed organizzare e patrocinare corsi, congressi, riunioni teorico pratiche nonché promuovere attività editoriali e di comunicazione al pubblico sull'argomento.
