## What is iGrade?

iGrade is an AI grading assistant — built by a teacher, for teachers.
Photograph your answer key. Photograph your students' papers. iGrade tells you what's right, what's wrong, and what it's not sure about. You stay in charge of every grade and all feedback.
iGrade doesn't replace your judgment. It replaces the stack of papers on your kitchen table.
WHAT iGRADE DOES
- Reads handwritten answers from photos of paper tests
- Grades multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, and free response
- Flags any answer it isn't sure about — so you can review before a grade is final
- Summarizes class performance to help you decide what to reteach
- Exports per-student results as CSV for any gradebook
WHAT iGRADE DOESN'T DO
- Mark your papers (nothing is ever written on the physical page)
- Write feedback for students (that stays with you)
- Store student images (they are deleted the moment grading completes)
- Sell, share, or train on your students' personal data — ever
PRIVACY IS THE DEFAULT, NOT A FEATURE
iGrade is designed to be restrictive about how much student identifying information ever travels digitally in association with a paper. Names and IDs are stripped from the extracted text, and never kept. Student images are processed for grading only, are never used to build profiles, and are deleted from our servers the moment grading finishes.
There are no student accounts. Students never touch iGrade, and nothing about a student is retained here after grading. No automated system catches everything, so cropping identifying information before uploading is recommended best practice.
HOW IT WORKS
- Snap a photo of your answer key
- Snap photos of your students' papers (one or many)
- Review anything iGrade flagged for your attention
- Adjust anything you disagree with, and export results if you wish
BUILT BY A TEACHER
I have taught in NY at the middle and high school level for 26 years. I built iGrade because I wanted a grading assistant that would dramatically speed up the manual labor of grading but stay honest about its uncertainty. I wanted it to stand out as unique because it doesn't seek student data and keeps it private by default. It wasn't worth building to me if it wasn't going to make my own daily life as a teacher better.

### 5/5 — Time saver

*2026-06-29*

This app is a huge time saver for me. I spent my weekends grading papers and now I can leave on Friday knowing all my papers are graded for Monday!

### 5/5 — Awesome Grading App!

*2026-06-15*

I am a middle school science teacher with over 100 students to grade. I find iGrade easy to use and that it saves me an incredible amount of time grading! It accurately can grade an entire batch of students’ papers at once, even accurately interpreting students’ handwriting!

### 5/5 — iGrade - Game Changer

*2026-06-01*

Think about the best parts and most challenging parts of teaching. The best moments are when a student’s face gains that AH HAH moment as a concept is finally absorbed, while the grading of papers can really bog down the proverbial machine as it is so time consuming. I always imagined winning the lottery and hiring someone to complete the grading portion of my day. Well now, iGrade makes it possible without the fallacy of the lottery dream. While I have only used it a half dozen times, I can tell you that the APP is as billed. I was skeptical of reliability and accuracy. I had ZERO issues with either of them ( I have started small with 20 words Spelling Assessments that also utilize 4 Bonus words). The APP is fast, convenient and has become a part of my grading life. Give it a try for yourself and you will feel so inclined to get a colleague on board.

### 5/5 — Awesome!

*2026-06-01*

Has saved me at least 50% of the time I used to spend grading. Very easy to use! Incredibly accurate!!!

### 5/5 — So Great!!!

*2026-05-27*

This app is a game changer. I have tried many apps to help me with the time consuming NGSS biology standards and I ended up cancelling after the trial period.

This app however has a seamless interface, is easy to use, and saves me a ton of time. Highly recommend…this is coming from a veteran teacher of 28 years.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.0.13 — 2026-08-12

Student names are now covered on your device before a paper is uploaded — the identity band is blacked out in your browser, not on our servers.

Grading results now survive navigating away and back.

CSV exports include a per-question breakdown and download properly on desktop.

Answer keys are unchanged and stay unmasked by design.

### 1.0.12 — 2026-08-11

This update (1.0.12) is about PDFs, and telling you when something was skipped.

PDFs: grading from a PDF is fixed. PDF pages are now prepared exactly the same
way as photos, which resolves uploads that could fail partway through and return
a grading error. A PDF and a photo of the same paper now grade identically.

Skipped pages: if a page can't be read, iGrade now grades the pages it can and
tells you which file and which page were skipped, instead of dropping them
quietly. In a batch, a skipped page can shift papers into the wrong student, so
the warning matters.

Phone: the keyboard no longer covers the buttons at the bottom of the screen.

As always, iGrade grades against your own key, flags anything it's unsure about,
and leaves the final call to you.

### 1.0.11 — 2026-08-01

This update (1.0.11) focuses on honest scoring, batch accuracy, and phone layout.

Scoring: if iGrade cannot find any questions in your answer key, it now says so
plainly instead of showing a score of 0%. Rubrics with performance levels are
scored by the point value of the level selected, and each criterion shows whether
you decided it or iGrade proposed it. Adjust Grading can now raise or lower a
grade, not only raise it.

Batch: batch results, the per-student breakdown, and CSV exports now follow the
same scoring rules, so the numbers agree. Partial credit on multi-part questions
and bonus questions are counted consistently. A class average is left blank
rather than shown as 0% when there is nothing to average.

Grade level: the app no longer assumes a grade level. You choose it, and it is
used to frame written feedback.

Phone: rubric grids can now be viewed on a phone, the header fits narrow screens,
and the keyboard no longer covers the buttons at the bottom of the screen.

The app is also significantly lighter and loads faster.

As always, iGrade grades against your own key, flags anything it's unsure about,
and leaves the final call to you.

### 1.0.10 — 2026-07-28

Grading fixes and a cleaner phone layout.

- Typed essays now read correctly, and no score is produced from a page iGrade couldn't read.
- Weighted and multi-level rubrics score by their own point values.
- Undo on an override restores the student's credit.
- Time saved now uses the hand-grading pace you chose.
- Question breakdown, batch table and account menu now fit phone screens.
- Less scrolling on results.

### 1.0.9 — 2026-07-15

Improved review workflow: read full student answers, mark multiple papers at once with undo, and better layouts on phones. Navigation and scrolling fixes throughout.
