## What is iGrok?

iGrok* is based on Nonviolent Communication (NVC) as developed by Marshall B. Rosenberg. It offers specific tools to better understand our self and connect with others. iGrok includes the full NVC model/process of “honesty and empathy” with emphasis on empathy—to be fully present with yourself and the other person in the moment. Empathy affects and influences the quality of connection, invites further dialogue, and prepares us for creative solutions.

Empathetic listening, using the NVC model, consists of listening for the person’s feelings and needs and what they are requesting to make their life more wonderful. This application includes a scrolling list of 128 feelings words and 118 needs words to support you in making an empathetic connection along with examples demonstrating how to structure sentences when offering empathy, sharing honesty, or practicing self-empathy.

### 5/5 — Simple, invaluable tool

*2024-05-26*

So helpful for deepening your emotional vocabulary

### 5/5 — SO HELPFUL TALKING TO MY MOM!!

*2024-03-27*

Whenever my mom and I are on the phone, I pull up iGROK. She lives alone now that my father is gone and I think she's pretty lonely without him. She seems to melt when I take my time to connect with her, using reflective listening and guessing what she is feeling and what needs she might have. The interesting thing is once she connects to her needs, she can often find solutions and strategies to meet those needs. I'm so happy to have found this app. It's helped me become a better daughter and more effective listener.

### 5/5 — So helpful!

*2022-01-18, version 1.3*

I love the simple elegance of this app. I am others-oriented (an Enneagram 2) and need support identifying my emotions/needs. This app has been so helpful.

### 1/5 — Simple app

*2020-04-14*

This app hasn't been updated in years. It's just a list of feelings and needs. Nothing more. It costing money makes it inaccessible to those who can't afford it. Make it free.

### 1/5 — Doesn't work

*2017-11-25*

The app doesn't work with the current IOS.

I paid for something worthless, left a voicemail on the contact number from their website and they never called back.

Not sure what to do or how to get my money back.

### 5/5 — Please Update!

*2017-10-27*

As someone whose practiced nonviolent communication for many years, I love having the feelings and needs right on my phone. I’ve suggested this app to many who are beginning their practice. Please update it so we can use it again! Thanks!!

### 2/5 — It is now useless. Please update.
