This is a nicely designed app and worth it for the visual content but, so far, I have not been able to get audio to work in iphone.

Saw this tonight and grabbed it. This should prove a quite useful tool. Need a scale reference? It's here...not sure how to spell that chord? It's here. 

Will be quite useful in helping me not get trapped in the same old box that many guitar players find themselves in

UPDATE: This app could stand a refresh/makeover for iOS 8.  Also, the accidental symbols ought to be in front of, not after, the Roman numerals.

I just purchased, installed, and started using this app and really enjoy it.  As they say, it puts a lot of theory at your fingertips.  Now, for a few things I've just noticed:

1. Some of the chords have incorrect notation.  I realize there is some variability in chord notation, but trust a jazz musician on this:
- Use the delta symbol for major chords and triads
- Major 7ths and Dominant 7ths should not be confused

2. If you turn the volume all the way up, the speaker gets overdriven (distorted) trying to play some of the notes.

3. It might be the note spacing, but some of the playbacks sound stilted or like they are being played unevenly or in a poor rhythm.

FEATURE REQUEST: Please add many more exotic scales!
FEATURE REQUEST: Please allow a setting where chords can be played harmonically (all notes simultaneously) instead of just melodically (one note after another)
FEATURE REQUEST: Can you provide other theory features such as harmonic substitutions, polychords, and inversions?

Other than that, great application!

This is a very useful app. I never learned a lot about music theory as I just played drums. Now that I'm playing guitar his app is very handy when I need to find all the notes in a scale or chords in a particular key. I really like the way it lays it all out in a very intuitive way. Very easy to use.

Downloaded this for my kids and thought it would be substitute endless scale music books lying around the house!
Tried it a number of times but there's no sound from the speakers.  In addition, doesn't have the score but the letters ( c,d,e,f,g...) which isn't what was expected.

This was a useful app when it played back the notes, chords and scales. But ever since its first upgrade, it no longer plays back sound. Is a fix coming? Or is my money wasted?

I have taught advanced music theory honors to prepare students for college as music major for the past 20 years and got is app on a lark to see if it would be a good tool for students. It is not. Is is inaccurate and misleading in its use of basic theory nomenclature which can make it confusing for theory students. 

For example - chords are made up of steps of a scale and each note within a chord is called a factor, and is referee to by an Arabic number (1,2,3,4) - not a Roman numeral (I, II, III, etc.) roman numerals should only refer to chords as they function within a given key. For example in C Major the I chord is based on the first step of the scale and is made up of steps 1,3,5 of e scale. (scale steps should also have carrots above them but couldn't type that) 

To me this is a big problem as students of theory regularly mix this up and get confused by the different numbering systems and their meanings. From the reviews it seems that many users downloading this are also beginners ( btw - the scale that goes with the dominant chord is the mixolydian scale - he major scale with a flat 7) It also just lists chords and scales with no information or association between the scales, chords, etc. 
This combined with the annoying 5 flat instead of flat 5 - not a great tool.

Not really. Does what it says, but could do so much better with the piano keys indicated, instead of a plain text that it makes use of. Also, zooming would help it a lot, or a larger font, as some information is basically indecipherable due to the miniscule font size. On the other hand, can someone please tell me what does the delta sign that is being used here and there in this app means? Is is a substitute for an otherwise different notation symbol? It appears a bunch of times and got me quite confused, honestly... Well, anyway - I've spent my money now, so I'm looking forward to a decent update, that hopefully comes.

It is very confusing. Although there are many scales and chords, it's hard to find them.
I'd like to see a search function where you can enter a chord, like Csus4 and get the notes. But first, we need the chords and scales displayed on a staff!

I love the idea of this app. As a relative beginner in music theory, it could be an excellent reference with 2 changes:

1) Include the scale formulas 

2) Do away with the made up naming conventions. I constantly have to refer to the developer website to get a handle on his made up naming scheme to use the application so I find myself saving the extra search and just looking up the raw data on the web. It usually takes a bit longer to get the info off the web but at least it's standardized so I can understand it & actually talk to other musicians about it. The deltas and pluses are incredibly confusing and largely detract from what could be a really good application.
