However, there is zero support for the keyboard. The basics should be mapped like the letters, numbers, and arrow keys at a minimum. I have to type my digits very carefully. The app misses so many clicks that I have taken to double checking my calculations on another device, which defeats the purpose! ### 5/5 — The best HP48GX / Calculator *2024-11-16, version 1.8(1)* Been loving this since the sad demise of m48+, which I’d been using since the very sad demise of my HP48GX. To be fair, this is much better than m48+ & sits proudly on my home screen as my stock calculator. I have tried many other calculators, of all flavours. The new Apple calculator with math notes is tempting, but still no replacement for iHP48. Fortunately you can access math notes from Notes when you need them, leaving this for day to day RPN, conversions, engineering calculation checks, etc. I recently asked about a dark mode icon & the new one is absolutely gorgeous. I didn’t have 2 problems and what solved the problem for me. Emulator sound did not work after looking at all the settings and unmuting the phone, I had to completely shut down the app and open it again. After that sound worked great. Several people complained of blank screen. Have you tried the “ON” button on the bottom left of the keyboard? iHP folder was not showing up on the Files app. I had to shut down all apps running and power off the phone. Once I restarted the phone, all worked great. I really like this app. I plan to try other programs and functions in the future. ### 5/5 — Best HP 48 emulator available nowadays! *2024-10-11, version 1.8(1)* Had an older HP 48 emulator on my iPhone 6, but when it finally became pretty much obsolescent couple years back and I upgraded to the iPhone 14, had to find a new HP 48 emulator for it. This one has proved to be the best of the ones I’ve tried, and I use it all the time. Very easy to view and operate, plus fairly dependable as well. It will crash occasionally during startup, but once you relaunch always seems to work fine — not particularly inconvenient, in any case. I did have to delete and reload it once, when trying out various different skins — completely froze up, and couldn’t get it to run at all anymore. So recommend finding one skin you like, and then just sticking with it… ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — App constantly crashes *2025-10-11, version 1.9* While this emulator is by far the best HP48G/GX emulator for iOS I’ve ever used, *while it’s working*, the reason for my rating is that *the app constantly crashes randomly.* This is on an iPhone 12 Pro Max running iOS version 18.7.1. I use an HP48GX daily for my engineering work, and have lots of customization - KEYMAN, UNITMAN, lots of applications loaded, etc. This emulator allows you to load up any of these customizations very easily - more easily than on the real hardware in fact. I do manage to crash it frequently when messing around with the applications and configuration in various ports, but it usually restarts back within a couple of actions. So I’ve just begun to explore the features. However, so far, it seems excellently done. It’s so nice to have all the power of this iconic and amazing calculator available on demand on my phone. I don’t know if it’s also programmable like the hardware device - that would be challenging to achieve - but it’s awesome to work with integrals, summations, equation solver, matrices, etc., just like the actual calculator.
