### 2/5 — iKamand is Great, the app stinks

*2022-10-15, version 5.7.18*

The app is glitchy. The only thing that works is the temperature gauge, which is fine, but it’s annoying every time I try to use the other functions like recipes, it just doesn’t work

### 2/5 — Portrait mode for an iPad!?

*2022-08-11, version 5.7.0*

I like the phone app, but the iPad version is useless. Who on earth uses their iPad in the kitchen in portrait mode? All of my kitchen-related apps are used in a docking station with a keyboard in landscape mode. It’s not that hard to program the orientation to switch depending on how the user is holding the device.

### 2/5 — Frequently drops WiFi and cannot auto-reconnect

*2022-07-20, version 5.7.0*

Almost every cook it will at some point lose its WiFi connection. Not a big deal except that you have to be physically there to reconnect it, which is infuriating. Why won’t it just reconnect itself!?!?

### 2/5 — When it works it’s Amazing

*2022-07-03, version 5.7.0*

I have struggled to get the the iKamand to connect and work properly with “Low N Slow.” The “Fire It Up” and “Monitor” work easy. I think the app to control the iKamand has way too much stuff on that has nothing to do with cooking. If the iKamand is offline it connects for Low N Slow, but it stops because your not connected to the WiFi. If connect the iKamand to your WiFi the “Low N Slow” control. So it’s very frustrating. So it’s not worth $249!!!

### 4/5 — Worked great until it doesn’t.

*2022-01-19, version 5.6.2*

Worked great until it doesn’t. Can’t log in so can’t cook with it…flawed design. You shouldn’t have to log in just to cook. Bad design KJ.

### 2/5 — Ikamand

*2021-07-04, version 5.3.8*

I tried to use this product 6 different times and it was either difficult to get a connection or keep a connection even though I have decent internet connect with the device.

### 2/5 — App stopped communicating

*2021-05-28, version 5.3.2*

My iKamand worked great, and when I tried to use it a week ago, the app no longer communicates to the unit. The light on the unit turns blue and connects to my Wi-Fi, but the app will not start a cook and doesnt recognize that the unit is online. I saw another recent review from a user having the same issue.

### 3/5 — New version doesn’t work

*2021-05-22, version 5.3.2*

I have 2 units and both are having same issue. I am able to start the iKomand slow burn and the light turns green on the unit but the app does not recognize it’s cooking and you can’t make adjustments. All you can see are the pit and probe temps in the monitor section. At least the actual unit is holding my pit temp stable, but I can’t make any adjustments and the graphs are not working as the app doesn’t think I’m cooking. It worked great and without issues for me for the past year with the older software

### 4/5 — Bugs, Bugs and more Bugs

*2020-12-30, version 5.1.19*

What can I say except BLECH? Many of the buttons in the app are dead. I never did get the unit connected and functional. The “Help” button takes you to the set up screen. The “Shop” button shows no products to buy, and after spending too many hours trying to make this work, I won’t be buying anything more from the group that created this junky, buggy app. BLECH!

### 1/5 — Slow app

*2020-11-01, version 5.1.19*

Towards the last 3 hours of my cook. The app started operating at a very slow speed. My temperature probe on the food would reach my desired temp then it would drop 4 degrees. This happened for a solid 45 minutes.

### 1/5 — IKamand troubles

*2020-09-20, version 5.1.19*

I’m always having difficulty connecting to the system and Kamado Joe has yet to reply to my email that I sent out months ago. At this point I don’t feel this was worth the $250 expense.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Terrible connection for fan

*2023-02-12, version 5.7.18*

Constantly dropping signal for wifi during cook so much that it's unreliable. Extremely aggravating not to be able to use it over night because of this.

### 1/5 — Seems to disagree with ios16

*2022-11-22, version 5.7.18*

This app used to work great and would be fine on long cooks but since iOS 16 came out it seems to lose cooks while they’re in progress if I don’t leave the app open on my phone. Not handy if you want to cook a brisket overnight.

### 1/5 — Drops connection

*2022-09-02, version 5.7.18*

It's nice when it stays connected but frequently drops connection then goes offline completely. Can't trust it to work overnight.

### 1/5 — Too many bugs

*2022-04-20, version 5.7.0*

With this release probes work when in monitor mode but don’t work once you start cooking, all 3 probes just display —

Pit temperature overshoots all the time. By far the worst release to date.

### 1/5 — Frustrating Every Time

*2022-02-13, version 5.6.2*

I forget how unreliable this app and product are every time I cook a brisket. I get server errors, errors saying it won’t connect, error downloading updates, it fails to cancel the cook when I need to and it gives me an error every time I try to calibrate the device. I’m not even listing all that it struggles with. I fight with this thing for hours and somehow get it to work in the end. I have a Meater+ and that thing works perfectly. Can Kamado Joe hire those developers? #frustrated

### 1/5 — Login broken, app is useless

*2022-01-19, version 5.6.2*

None of the login options are working and account creation is broken too. This makes the device USELESS. The app should allow you to control the iKamand WITHOUT logging in. Wifi connectivity should be sufficient.

### 1/5 — Junk

*2021-11-25, version 5.6.2*

Absolutely junk wifi connection. Less than 10’ away from iPhone 12 it shows disconnected. Less than 20’ from the home wifi.

### 1/5 — IKammand is horrible and zero customer service.

*2021-06-30, version 5.3.8*

I have tried setting up ikammand 100 times and it never works. 2.4 network only, just like the instructions. 100% signal strength. Nonexistent customer service. Total waste of money. Shop elsewhere for your temperature control and monitoring device.

### 1/5 — Trash

*2021-06-20, version 5.3.8*

There is no redeeming quality here. App crashes. Must resync for every use. Blasts past temp setting constantly. Literally will ruin your food worse than just lighting pit and leaving for the day.

### 1/5 — Buggy

*2021-04-06, version 5.3.2*

Dead buttons in the app, I have tried on 3 different devices to get the firmware to update, but nothing works. Silly requirements such as ensuring the Wifi password does not have special characters. Please put some additions time into the QA process and run through the various scenarios such as edge cases that customers will encounter.

### 5/5 — iKammad is great controller but falling apart

*2023-05-21*

I have used my iKAMMAND for at least three years and it has reliably controlled my cooking temperatures. Unfortunately the controller:fan no longer snaps into the lower vent ring as the tabs on the housing that snap into the vent adapter have finally broken off. I cannot tolerate a cool failure because of the iKAMMAND falling off my Kamado Joe and ruining l an expensive cut of meat or a failed meal service. I have contacted Kamado Joe customer service to determine if I can have it repaired or obtain replacement parts. The next step will be to replace the iKAMMAND with a unit that has a more reliable design.

### 5/5 — Bad quality cover

*2022-10-16, version 5.7.18*

Probably the wrong department but I have had my grill on the deck since may and my Kamado cover is completely faded and the stitching is falling apart
I can send pictures

### 5/5 — Must Have !!

*2022-09-11, version 5.7.18*

This Ikamand it fantastic!! No more juggling the vents back and forth. Nice consistent temperature PERFECT !!

### 5/5 — Great Grill

*2022-07-23, version 5.7.0*

Read and watch videos if you do not have a pro neighbor to understand the cooking process and characteristics of the grill. You can cook anything on it. I have cooked some of the best grill food on the Kamado Joe. It is the best grill ever so learn how to use it properly and enjoy some great food.

### 5/5 — BRISKET!

*2022-05-29, version 5.7.0*

What an amazing piece of equipment/insurance! Placed a brisket on the big Joe on a Saturday night around 8:00pm……it sat at 225 F. ALL NIGHT!!! It has allowed me to cook meats I would never have the time to cook!!!

### 5/5 — Wonderful Cooking Instrument

*2022-05-24, version 5.7.0*

The KJ Classic III is a blast to cook with. Being a gadget guy there are so many great accessories and they all work really well. Out of the box you can cook fast or slow, gentle or mean. It has it all. The grill is beautifully made and looks great for parties and such.

Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Smoked salmon strips

*2021-08-25, version 5.4.9*

Excellent outcome. First time using the KJ. The recipe book called for 225 degrees F but my iKamad shows 250.

### 5/5 — Top quality

*2021-04-24, version 5.3.2*

Expensive... yes but the Kamado joe is quality second to none.

### 5/5 — Great Additon

*2020-09-07, version 5.1.19*

I’ve used this 3 times this week and have not been disappointed. Highly recommend for anyone using the Kamado Grills.

### 5/5 — IKammand works great

*2020-08-23, version 5.1.19*

I’ve been using iKammand for well over a year. It works great. Make sure to close the vent all the way down and close the top vent almost all the way down. The fan on the iKammand will keep the pit temp steady. If you leave the vents too open, it cannot keep the temp from climbing too high. I also love that you can log all your sessions and keep notes on them for next time if you want to change anything it’s all right there.
