Bummer because it could be super useful. ### 4/5 — Was unable to use due to the apple payment system and it did not transfer to the web site *2026-07-20* I used this service as a paid pro subscriber for many years when I was a windsurfer. I recently tried it again but on the App Store but was unable to get my expected access. I would like to delete this review as it has nothing to do with the program itself. Apple refunded the money so I am currently not a paid pro subscriber. If I decide to try again, it will be directly and not through the Apple Store. I check it multiple times a day, including at home when I'm deciding when to leave for the beach. And then again at the beach when I'm deciding what kite to pump up. I would LOVE a version for the Apple Watch! Update: the recent removal of the WRF-WF forecast model for Maui is a devastating reduction to the value of this app. The replacement TRRM model is a very poor substitute. It consistently forecasts lower wind than actual and doesn’t learn from its constant under forecasting. I’m forced to rely on the Blend model. It is also prone to under forecasting during afternoon hours, but I can just mentally add 4-5 mph and get pretty close. Unlike the TRRM model, the Blend model isn’t constantly predicting a drop in wind speed to some low nominal level—which never materializes. In contrast to the forecast models, the actual current wind speed values remain extremely valuable. 11/7/25 Update: the update today broke the app for use on my iPhone SE. 1/21/26 Update: the technical issue mentioned above was fixed in a few days, and the app works great now. Also the new TRRM wind model has continued to gradually improve and now provides the most accurate forecast I know of for wind conditions at my kite beach. I use the app multiple times each day. Support for the Apple Watch was added several months ago and is very useful. At first, the app could be added as a complication on the watch face. That no longer works for some reason, but I can still launch the app from the app list. So I created an account through their web UI and then tried to use those credentials to log in via the app. It tells me my username or password are wrong. They can’t be wrong - I created them via LastPass and had LastPass enter them for both the website signup flow and the app login flow. Their system is clearly just broken in a fundamental way, so I give up. If they can’t even make their own app work for the fundamental things like letting you log in or sign up, how can I expect them to get complicated stuff like weather forecasts right? ### 1/5 — Paying for nothing in Pro! *2025-09-05, version 6.29* I used to get at least some useful data for $45 a year, but now I get almost nothing useful unless I upgrade and pay significantly more. This means you have to manually scroll around on the map in the app looking for different wind locations. These guys completely dropped off their support and their pro forecast is a joke of an AI generation. If you live in the Bay Area in San Francisco, it’s worth it. But there’s a start contrast in the energy and care they put into the southern region. It’s a shame because I used to love this app and be willing to pay for it. ### 1/5 — Paid for Plus but I can't access the stations *2024-05-11, version 5.37* Paid for Plus but I can't access the stations. The app's user interface is the worst I've ever seen on an apple app, it pretty much just redirects you too their website which seems to have been designed 20 years ago. If you want the pro features is pricey and, apparently, doesn't work. ### 1/5 — Terrible *2024-04-21* I use wind apps for Kitesurfing and sailing. Ikite is by far the highest priced wind app on the market. Paid a ridiculous amount for a subscription and never received access to it on my iPhone or IPad. The only customer support option was email, and they never responded or fixed my issue. I had to contact apple to get my money back. For the price they charge, someone should come to your house and install the app lol. I will just continue use NOAA data for my wind forecast, which I believe which is where they get their data to begin with, and thats free. **Developer response:** Thank you for trying iKitesurf, friend. iKitesurf meteorologists have been writing our own detailed daily Forecast discussions, and we have been installing our own heavy-duty weather stations in the best locations coast-to-coast, since 1987! The phone version is amazing. ### 1/5 — Keep getting locked out and now my station costs more *2023-08-14* I signed up for the plus package because that was what was required to see my local weather station since then at least half the times I use the app it says that I need to sign up for a membership and then I just really have to re-login again, and again, and again. Now they have decided that I have to have the pro package to view my local weather station, even though it was included in the plus package when I signed up. So in summary it wasn’t working when I paid, and now they want me to pay a higher fee. **Developer response:** T-W, give iKitesurf Support a shout, and we will try to help you!
