About
Ikra' is a free companion for memorizing the Qur'an slowly, word by word.
Most apps give you the verse and its translation. Ikra' gives you the verse, and then every single word inside it — so you stop guessing which Arabic word carried which meaning.
FEATURES
• Word-by-word meanings for all 6,236 verses — 77,429 words, in English
• Listen: Arabic recitation by Mishary Rashid Alafasy, followed by the translation
• Voiced translation: hear whole surahs read through like an audiobook; works on the car screen too
• English and Turkish: one tap switches the entire app (Pickthall / Elmalili)
• Prayer times and reminders, calculated for your location
• Qibla compass with magnetic declination correction
• Learn to pray from scratch, a tajweed school, and a section of supplications
• Root tree: see every word in the Qur'an that grows from the same root
• The 300 most frequent words — learn them and you understand roughly half of what you read
• Qur'anic stories told only from verses and sound sources, each with an evidence badge
• Comprehension tests, a daily lesson, khatm tracking and a progress map
• Works without internet; the entire Qur'an text lives on your device
OUR PRINCIPLES
Not one sentence without a source. The Arabic text comes from the Tanzil project, verified against the Madinah Mushaf. The English translation is Marmaduke Pickthall's (public domain). The word-by-word English is the work of Dr. Shehnaz Shaikh and Ms. Kausar Khatri, published under Public Domain Mark 1.0. The app is free, carries no advertising, and collects no data whatsoever.

• Hourly verse notifications are refreshed: they now draw only from carefully selected verses whose meaning is complete on its own. Verses that read like a fragment without their context have been removed from notifications. • Tap a notification to open the verse inside its surah, together with the verses before and after it.
