It feels like something that Apple would make. Simple, intuitive, clean. Chef’s kiss. 3) The bookshelf! Wow, I can’t believe no one’s thought of this before. I love my old bookshelf back home, but I couldn’t bring it with me when I moved. Now I have my ILIAD bookshelf to display all my favorite books no matter what format they’re in. Mahogany is my favorite. 4) The new 10-point rating system! “Not my cup o’ tea” lol. Love it. It’s the perfect level of detail and definition to bring to the book rating experience. The 5-star ratings honestly never made sense to me. 5) The Graveyard! Yes! I always feel guilty abandoning a book, but this will make it easier for me to move on. Thank you. 6) Having separate spots for notes vs reviews vs review headlines (140 characters) is great. Please give us the option to make some of these private! Overall, I know the app is still in beta, but it’s a great start and I can’t wait to tell all my friends about this. And what a great name: ILIAD! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Freezes during registration. *2025-08-12* It asks whether you want to register as Apple or Gmail. Both options lead to a blank screen with an infinite loading icon. Uninstalling. I see their last update (at time of writing) was a whopping three months ago. Maybe this isn’t an active app anymore. ### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time. *2025-05-03* I decided to try this app and there’s an option to import your Goodreads information and to allow 24-72 hours for a reply, I’ve waited over 72 hours for their response and no books have been updated to my account and when I reached out for support they had an automated system telling me that they wouldn’t respond to my request till Monday, highly unprofessional and just not worth the hassle. ### 5/5 — Misleading promotion *2025-02-18* This company ran a misleading promotion on their instagram account, requiring me to make a purchase through their app with the promise of a refund. However, they are now refusing to issue the refund as originally stated. ### 5/5 — An engaging, interactive book review community! *2024-11-13* The bookshelves are a fun way to personalize your reading interest and share your love of books with the ILIAD community. Rating books 1–10 is more valuable way of scoring one’s interest and makes the rating relevant. The best part is, since the rollout is happening real time, readers have the opportunity to influence the site’s development and value. This app takes on that problem head on with recommendations and a beautiful bookshelf user interface that makes it easy to share with others and help them by your experiences and reviews. It’s surprising that Good Reads and others have not tackled these challenges for readers as well.
