Unfortunately, you need this app in order to activate any of the services the unit is capable of. It’s nice, but this app was obviously not well developed. Does not even connect to the network it asks for (2.4 GHz). If you cannot provide the service this app is intended for, then why have it up. Shame on Apple for allowing this. Another reason why I am thinking about going to an Android. This app allowed me to connect via Wi-Fi but will NOT let me sign in to Amazon Alexa. It’s just a plain white screen. I’ve spent hours trying to get it to work. When I called support they said every time Apple does an iPhone update it usually causes this app to malfunction. They told me to wait for the next app update. Seriously? With no expected release date. It’s not worth using if you have to spend over a half hour to setup each time you use. Both Bluetooth and wireless function are a pain. App interferes with my phone working. Speaker interferes with my headphones. Speaker picks up others convos. Volume of narration voice is really high and if it randomly decides to talk to you at 1 am you can’t turn it down, you have to shut all the way off and then your next startup process is a pain. My iPhone doesn’t make a Bluetooth connection to the speaker, but a wi-fi connection directly to it. If you look in the manual, page 10 (Setup), do steps 1, 2, and 3 and in step 4 you goto to your iPhone settings, you know with the gear icon on your home screen, and goto Wi-Fi and there it is waiting for you to click on, a network that has “iLive” in the name. Click it, then go back to this app and finish it up. Key point is to connect to a visible 2.4 ghz wireless to set it up, required for the model I have. Used my iPhone 6 with ease to set up, once I programmed the WiFi password into the speaker it connected directly to the WiFi. I used it to setup my ILive speaker and it was pretty self explanatory and easy to walk through. It only to a couple of minutes and I think that was due to user impatience. If it says failure to connect go ahead and do the alternative method - that is super easy. ### 4/5 — Way better not perfect yet *2019-08-11, version 3.5.6420* So for the clock from my husband in Dec and it was garbage with iPhone 8 and 10, eventually we got to work by finding charging and using our old iPhone 6. Unfortunately power went out one day and lost all settings 🤦‍♀️, didn’t want to dig up old iPhone again so this wound up in donate bin. However, it was an $$$ clock so I thought I’d try one more time, now August and they seem to have worked out a lot of bugs.
