## What is Illuminati Meter?

The Illuminati Meter app uses your phone’s Bluetooth radio to connect to your Illuminati Instruments IM100 meter. The app gets readings from the meter and displays the correct exposure, color temperature, and other light-related data on your smartphone. Use the readings from the app to enter exposure and white balance information into your mirrorless, DSLR. or digital cinema camera. The app also reports illuminance (in lux) and CIE xy chromaticity data.

The Illuminati Instruments’ model IM100 wireless light and color meter for your smartphone is the first light meter of its kind and can be used with a wide variety of lighting types, including: daylight, ambient, fluorescent, LED, strobe, HMI and others. Whether you are creating moving images or still, the Illuminati Meter and App will give you the information you need to characterize the lighting in your scene for consistent exposure and color accuracy. Consistent, accurate information is the key to productivity on the set and later in post production.

The Illuminati Meter App is used with your Illuminati IM100 Meter and supports all these features – and more:

EXPOSURE settings for both STILL (ISO, F-stops, Shutter speed) and VIDEO (ISO, T-stops, Shutter Angle, and Frame Rate) to set your camera’s exposure information
COLOR TEMPERATURE in Kelvin, including green-magenta shift to help you set your camera’s white balance
COLOR FILTER LIBRARIES for Lee and Rosco to help you select gels to color correct your lights
STROBE lighting support for EXPOSURE, COLOR TEMPERATURE, and STROBE-TO-AMBIENT ratio uses the meter’s built-in strobe metering circuit - no cable required
App supports connecting MULTIPLE IM100 METERS to monitor multiple light sources simultaneously
ALARM function lets you know when the brightness or color temperature has changed
Continuously MONITOR AMBIENT light at an interval you set
TRIGGER meter readings from the app or by pressing the meter’s power button
STROBE triggering using the sync cord from your flash
CHROMATICITY (x, y coordinates) and ILLUMINANCE (lux)

### 4/5 — Truly excellent in some ways

*2021-03-28*

But I’m using it to measure the LUX of LED flashlights. In this application a new feature would really help.

Other LUX light meters have a setting for Min / Avg / Max, and can continuously monitor the light intensity and store either the Min or the Avg or the Max LUX seen. This is extremely helpful. And you could store all 3 at once with your wonderful app!

Creating a graph of actual LUX over time and downloading its data would also be really helpful.

There is no explanation of what pushing in the white dome does.

### 1/5 — Buyer Beware

*2019-12-30*

If you need a neat looking paperweight, look no further. It doesn’t work as advertised. It’s a gimmick at best.

### 1/5 — Not as useful as the android app

*2018-12-29*

I like the device and find it useful but unfortunately it seems the developers have neglected the iOS app. The app compared to android equivalent it way behind with features and settings being omitted

### 4/5 — Has potential

*2018-09-24*

Setting need to save when you close the app or phone times out, basic be able to pick default modes stills vs video. Need to be able to measure ratio and get percentages with one meter. Great device, app needs help.

### 1/5 — The app is not ready to be considered Pro.

*2018-04-19*

I bought one unit from B&H. The app keeps crashing, there is no way to get readings from a the strobes and it just read ambient light. Firmware is up to date but is very buggy. Something needs to be done to improve this app.

### 1/5 — Disappointed 😔

*2018-04-05*

It’s a great concept but they need to get all the kinks out first. for iPhone the best readings I can get is for ambient light and that’s only every now and then it unpairs it doesn’t give me my percentage of my strobes I wanna keep it but for $299 im going to have to return it and get a sekonic because I need to shoot and don’t have time to wait for updates

### 1/5 — Bad news, now GOOD News!

*2018-04-05, version 0.3.2*

The new .3 version won’t work. You click on the app, it opens for an instant, then closes. Help!
iPhone 7, iOS 11.3
I loved this app before!
UPDATE: Contacted Illuminati Meters and they are aware of a snag. They told me to delete and reinstall. The app worked perfect and it has WAY more features than before! These folks are very caring and smart! Not to mention they contacted me the next day after I wrote them! Get this meter!

### 5/5 — All I can say is WOW!!!

*2018-03-15*

This app paired with their light meter is probably one of the most amazing pieces of tech for a videographer and/or photographer that is out there! The option to see the color temp of the scene as well to measure the light at the same time in a multi camera setup is simply remarkable!
