But it helps u. My mom went up in the attic for our Christmas decorations. And she needed light so she used this. Don't listen to other people that u shouldn't buy this app on that's it's just screen. Who cares at least u have a flashlight. ### 4/5 — Awesome flashlight *2011-11-07, version 1.7* Works well. Lots of options. I use it as a nightlight to take care of my newborn baby. Only complaint is that it eventually times off and you have to tap screen to get light again. Then again, that feature is useful for falling asleep with the light. ### 5/5 — Saved my life *2011-08-29* So I was spelunking in northern brazil, when all the sudden- boom, no lights. Lucky for me, I had this app. So I flicked it out and the world was right again. Because the light was so bright, I continued my journey, spelunking deeper and deeper into the cave. After what seemed like hours behind my trusty light, I came across a small tribe of natives who were mesmerized by this app. Not only did they say it was the greatest app they had ever seen, but also showered me with gifts of treasure and gold. I was royalty. Needless to say, I recommend this app. ### 5/5 — Love it!!! The only thing I would change is the ability to get access to another app and keep the light on. It shuts off when the home button is pressed. But when I go in to change the color, I find out only the screen changes colors. I do astronomy stuff and using the red is what I need but it isn't bright enough on the screen to be useful. Glad I found out now before being with 1000 astronomers throwing stuff at me because I just blinded them. ### 5/5 — Handy lil gadget *2011-07-01, version 1.4* I always have my Iphone with me so when i need a light its right there. Its great for walking thru house at night or looking for small objects i dropped on floor. I always use it when we go camping . Its quite the handy lil gadget. ### 4/5 — Good but screen lock dissapointing *2011-06-24* was excited when I saw that app had a screen lock option since I had another flashlight app I used before that I used as a book light but was frustrated when I would accidentally bump it and mess up the settings. But I was disappointed to find that the screen lock seems to only be on the strobe light setting which is just plain annoying to read by. would love to see this added to the regular flashlight in a future update. Otherwise great flashlight nice and bright! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — MALWARE *2014-10-09* Do not download ### 1/5 — LOUD video ads and images stuck on phone *2011-01-19, version 1.2* I don't mind ads in free apps but when you're using a flashlight app and a LOUD VIDEO AD pops on the screen it can be a bit of a surprise. I use mine sometimes to find my way down the hall in my house and not turn on lights and disturb others... hard to do with the video ad playing. Plus, after totally closing the app the image stayed on the background on my phone. I wish this app had a face so I could punch it. ### 1/5 — Why *2010-09-05, version 0* I read all the reviews and someone said they don't understand why people would be rating this app with a one star, that they have to be competitors. Well she/he is wrong. It's regular people giving their honest opinion. This app is more than useless. Its not even that bright. The "flashlight" is the ipads regular brightness. Actually I think if I raised my brightness setting the iPad would be brighter.... What a shame. And if you want to make this work, ADD COLORS TO THE STROBE LIGHT! Besides adjusting the brightness of the "flashlight". Could be a cool app but instead it's just a waste. ### 2/5 — So confused *2012-10-04, version 1.8* So I thought the app was working well again since we got the new update, but there's still a glitch. When using the flashlight, the light will automatically turn itself off when my screen goes dark. It never did that before. It would stay on until I turned it off myself. It takes about a minute and then my flashlight turns itself off. Please fix soon. ### 2/5 — Not good as a flashlight. *2012-08-12, version 1.7* I did not get this app to stare at my phone for 5 minutes to get the light on. I got this app wanting to be able to tap an app and have the light turn on. Before I had an iPhone, I always used my phone as a flashlight. But honestly, every time I turn this app on, I go to the ad website. When it's dark, I'd love to use this app but it will never let me *JUST* use the flashlight. Every time I open this app it is an ordeal to get it to just turn on the flash light. ### 2/5 — Not terrible *2011-11-13, version 1.7* It works just like it says it should but the flashlight is just a bright screen. That happens when you turn on the device. I give it 2 stars because it loads fast and you can change the color. I would give it more but i feel like it is just like my home screen and that doesnt take up space on my device. It works fine but dont go out of your way to download it. ### 2/5 — Great-but... *2011-09-04* Very irritating when the light is on and if you 'accidentally' touch ANYTHING on the screen it turns it off by going to some $&@!( advertisement-then it takes multiple tries to make it go on again-and again you can't even BREATH on the screen or it turns off AGAIN-!! So it is great but it needs to be so that you can TURN THE SCREEN OFF by touching the top button on the phone-BUT NOT TURNING OFF THE LIGHT ITSELF-ONLY THE SCREEN-That way one can actually USE the light-if battery wear is an issue-make it so that one can have a SETTING OPTION in the APP that make it so that the light will go off at the set time per user preference- Now THAT would deserve a 5 star rating-until then I give it a 2-so PLEASE-YOU WONDERFUL DEVELOPERS MAKE IT SO~! (tank ya much-!) ### 3/5 — Does not work properly on 5th gen. iPod *2012-12-18* I used to love this app but when I updated to 2.0 the tap mode for the flashlight disappeared, the options for LED, screen, and dual disappeared, and all of the color options were removed. Also, the bottom of the window where the ads are is about twice as large as it was before and it seems to be the background of the tap mode if I remember correctly. This app does not work properly on my 5th generation iPod. I would really appreciate a fix for this! (As well as others who have this problem from updating) ### 3/5 — Update decreased app functionality *2012-10-09, version 1.8* After the new 1.8 update the flashlight only stays on until my screen auto-locks. It used to keep my screen from auto-locking which allowed me to use the phone as an actual flashlight. Now I have to make sure to keep the screen active instead of using both hands when working in the dark. Please fix this ASAP or I'll have to start carrying a flashlight around full-time. ### 3/5 — Could be better. *2011-06-22* I tried lots of other flashlight apps, this one was okay. Jeez. ### 5/5 — Must Have! *2012-10-01* I love this app! I had an iPhone 4 and it works great on there. However, I'v since upgraded to the iPhone 5. The app still loads and runs perfectly expect, the LED is not taken advantage of. Please update soon for iOS 6 as I use the LED flashlight mode often and would love to continue to use your app. Use of the LED would stop me from looking for another app and allow me to continue to be loyal to you. ### 5/5 — it's great *2011-12-28* it doesn't take long to open, lots of choices of options. For example for strobe you can pick very fast, fast, medium, slow, or verry slow. I'm the developer of iLlumination. I'm very sorry that the application crashed. It was a very strange bug that only happened on iPhone 4 running iOS4. There was also another bug happening on all devices. Again, I'm very sorry for any problems that these bugs has caused. I hope you can forgive me and the application. All should be well now. I'm very satisfied with the latest version. Please let me know if you have any feedback with the "Send feedback"-button in the application. Now that it actually loads up again this app deserves the full 5 stars that it is. :) Updated to 1.6 hoping that the crashing when opening app would be fixed, but nope, the latest update didn't do it for me. I'm on an iPhone 4 so I'm not sure how that would cause a problem. 1 star for being useless now. ### 5/5 — VERY useful app. *2011-10-18* This was the first light app that I have used and have been completely satisfied since. The developer is VERY responsive and, through no fault of his, had to wait for APPLE to approve this update in the iTunes store for LION. Others my say they JUST want a flashlight app but this has save our collective butts a couple of times. Once we were hiking in the mountains (Japan) here and we used it to "beacon" other travelers to where we were located. The "tap" mode is very handy for this. We had also used this to light our way through collapsed buildings in the Tohoku (Japan) regions. I just put it in my pocket and I have a hands free light. Cool! I was in a narrow and dark area; it's kind of a study room. Suddenly all the lights were gone but i had this app and i could safely got out of there.
