Not So Much Now. ☹️ *2022-01-11, version 1.75* I’ve had iMini for years and used to use and love it. But I’ve drifted away from it. I’ve actually owned a Model D since the late 70’s, but was always happy to have this (once great) app as a convenient and portable substitute for my iPads. I fired it up today and I must admit that I’m very disappointed. According to the App Store, Arturia hasn’t updated it in 3 years. And it certainly shows!! No AUv3, Tap Tempo crashes the app, outdated connectivity options that are now greyed out rather than removed, no Bluetooth connectivity, blah, blah, blah. I love and use Arturia hardware and software. Use their products all the time. But revisiting this particular app was a huge disappointment. They should update it or just drop it from the store. It’s obvious that they have forgotten it even exists. This is not to badmouth Arturia as a company. They are great. But this app should be avoided. Buy Moog’s very own version. It sounds and works great, and they stay on top of it. In fact, it was updated just 2 days ago. Sounds like the speakers are extremely damaged, probably not very good for my speakers as well... other than that the interface is pretty cool, the app description images are very decieving because it’s just the keyboard synthesizer not a bunch of ones to choose from. Wish I would have known that before paying for this app as well. ### 2/5 — Okay ish but not like desktop version at all *2019-05-23, version 1.75* This is okay but the presets are super janky. They essentially are the original presets from the original Mini V desktop as they are named the same. The latest desktop version is amazing. Aurturia have let themselves down by not updating this app and having the same presets as the desktop version. I love Arturia but not this. I've requested a refund from Apple. ### 2/5 — Sounds OK... *2019-04-02, version 1.75* ...but it’s not an Audio Unit; which in this day and age is essential. My other complaint is that it still clings on to the Retronyms Tabletop ecosystem. I know this app was also developed by Retronyms, but Tabletop died about 5 years ago. Retronyms need to remove Tabletop from the App Store and move on; just like everyone else did, 5 years ago. ### 3/5 — Dropped the ball big time *2019-03-22, version 1.75* Once upon a time this was one of my favorite iOS synth, sadly, the ball has been dropped by not making this an Audio Unit a year ago. Frankly, it’s no point to even bother making it one now since Mood released the model D, and to be honest, I literally forgot this existed. At this point, Auria needs to just release something else and make sure it’s an Audio Unit, because if it isn’t, it will be a no sale. While this still sounds good, I would not suggest it to anyone. Audio Unit is the present/future of iOS and anyone who can’t grasp that should not develop for the iOS music platform. ### 2/5 — Faultless synth, pointless for performance *2018-11-19, version 1.75* All of the iOS Arturia software is excellent with respect to their faithful emulations of classic synthesisers but none can receive MIDI bank or program changes. Fine (although limiting) if your recording but unusable for live performance. The Moog version beats this hands down in this respect. Such a shame that they still haven’t addressed this as I’d love to use the SEM & Prophet for live gigs. ### 2/5 — Amazing synth hasn't been updated to AUV3 *2018-10-23, version 1.75* Which makes it useless for my workflow. The other Moog synth app, Model15, is incredible and a few steps ahead of this one(not made by Moog so that explains it). It’s always served my Moog needs for an iOS app, buuuut now Moog themselves has come out with the Model D their own version of THEIR synthesizer, with Auv3 compatibility. I’m a loyal customer Retronyms/Arturia, as Impc2 is my number 1 Beat making app, along with iProphet my number 1 for analog pads n Chords.. IMini is a great a beautiful sounding app.. it needs to be updated tho along with iprophet take your apps into the future ### 4/5 — Great Synth! *2017-11-11, version 1.75* Great app! But it now seems to have some sort of common buzzing noise on most of its presets. I don’t know enough about these things but could these be ‘artifacts’? The presets in the app are good, and there’s a lot of plasticity of sound. However, there are some big flaws - the Audiobus support really isn’t what it should be, the app is very rarely updated, and most importantly, the “Tap to set BPM” function is completely broken - on all platforms and versions of iOS, tapping this button instantly crashes the app every time. (Trust me, I tried this on a lot of iPads.) I used to have a review here that said I loved this app except for this one fatal flaw, but honestly - at this point, this app doesn’t impress me all that much. There are now a number of MiniMoog emulators on the market - most of all, Moog’s own Model D app, which looks and feels like iMini, except with a LOT more functionality and better sound. (And the BPM controls don’t crash the app!) My advice: skip the iMini and spend a few extra bucks on Model D instead. It’s worth it. ### 1/5 — Foolish purchase *2017-12-23, version 1.75* This was a waste of 10 bucks for me. It’s not the app, it’s me. Although I dabble with the piano, and have played an acoustic guitar for 40 years, this app feels like it’s beyond me and I’d need to learn way more than I want to in order to get the most out of it. Wish there was a free version, so I could have figured this out before spending the money. And who doesn’t want that? With a midi controller attached and audio out into a big speaker you are transformed into the coolest & loudest person in the band. The arp possibilities are vast letting you shape the sound and rhythm to create evolving, dynamic pieces of music. So I tried their iOS apps. They are just as good as their Mac stuff. They currently have only 4 apps available for iOS. I wish they had 40. I would buy them all. I love this app and all it can do. I am rating it 5 stars, however, I did find a bug. Every time I try to use the tempo tap the app crashes on me. I am running it on a 2016 model iPad Pro 9.7 inch. If you guys could look into this it would be great!
