I've actually started using this on my iPad for tasks that I would usually use PyMol on the Mac. Chain/atom selection works very well, and its fairly easy to select residues from the sequence and display them as ball-and-stick, cpk, change their colouring etc. A couple of things that don't work (for me at least), and requests: 1. loading from PDB brings up a Safari page with a URL "http://www/" - instead of the correct PDB url. The top search box works a treat. 2. It would be great to be able to load your own coordinate files - this is IMPORTANT because most of us crystallographers would use this to visualise structures we have determined but not yet released. Should be easy to implement as other apps can handle local files via iTunes, dropbox, iDisk etc 3. Molecular surfaces would be great (the images above show this but perhaps not yet working for PDB - perhaps too CPU intensive?) 4. Distance calculation eg put finger on an atom and hold, then drag finger to another atom and a dotted line with distance is drawn 5. more colouring options eg B-factor. Possibly B-factor worm. 6. Selecting residues from sequence is great - need to be able to select multiple non-contiguous residues or segments 7. Multiple PDB handling would be good, specifically this would allow for example a simple superpose function. This is certainly the best visualizer out there for the iPhone. It's so far too slow to make surfaces for large proteins though, on an iPhone 5. Perhaps someday it can calculate energies and maybe even a backend server option for number crunching? Works from iPad 2 to iPad Pro. Tim Cook must be mad. The rendering is simple, but generally clear. 3D manipulation is intuitive. Not as flexible or powerful as full modelling packages like PyMol. Surface depictions are simplistic and not really useful for interior pockets. But overall, it is a useful app for checking out structures quickly. Well worth the 99¢ ### 5/5 — The best viewer for biological molecules available *2012-06-17, version 1.5* I very rarely write reviews, but this app proved good enough that I felt compelled to write something about it. I am a computational chemist, and ever since I bought the original iPad 1, I've been looking for a good program for visualization of biological molecules in the iPad. I've even purchased a couple (one of them > $10.00), but this is by far the best one I've tried. The PDB interface works flawlessly. I could load an enzyme directly from PDB very quickly, the program already chose the best visualization (and it was really good), located and pointed active sites, ligand molecules, chains, etc., showing them in a very nice way. Easy to use, functional and **very** lightweight and fast: I still use the original iPad 1, and I could load, rotate, zoom in, zoom out in no time at all, no lag, no freezing. If there is anything to complain about is that I didn't find an easy "rate it" button in it, so I had to open the apple store, find purchased programs, etc, to rate it. Oh, requests for future releases? VGA output would be awesome. The preprocessed displays allow quick and easy visualization of the key aspects of the crystal structures. It has a nice range of functionality for a 99 cent AP.
