### 4/5 — Any audio recording features?

*2025-12-03, version 4.3.5*

I benefit from this app to identify my moods. With the customizable reminders I can have multiple alarms to force me to pause at any moment and either catch myself from ruminating or just taking a moment for myself. I was wondering if a voice recorder could be added for additional thoughts to be captured or when typing isn’t possible nor convenient? Thanks & keep up the great work!

### 4/5 — Feature Request

*2025-10-16, version 4.3.5*

Is there a chance of a feature to edit the time range in the time of day chart?

### 4/5 — Love iMood!

*2024-09-05, version 4.1.16*

I love this app! I’ve been using it since 2018 to track my mental health. It’s been wonderful to help me understand my natural rhythms through the day, week, and different seasons.

My only complaint is that it seems like it’s no longer being updated, otherwise I’d give it 5 Stars.

### 4/5 — Long time 10yrs + user love it , needs some updates

*2024-04-09, version 4.1.16*

I’ve been using this product for 10+ years and love the archive of data’s … it’s great seeing the progress and tracking it all happening. My recommendation is to set the alarms to ask you at say 4x times a day to rate.

But … this app does need some updates.

### 2/5 — keto king gymnasium jesus approved

### 5/5 — Отлично

*2023-08-06*

Прекрасное приложение, веду дневничок уже много лет, полезно вернуться в некоторые моменты и перечитать. Пожалуйста, не забрасывайте приложение, оно отличное! Минималистичное, без лишней нагрузки, то что надо. Спасибо вам за него

### 3/5 — Transparency?

*2023-06-21, version 4.1.16*

Lots of great features. But nowhere on their site or in the app can ai find information about subscriptions, fees or cancelling and account. Sneaky

### 4/5 — 8/10

*2023-06-09, version 4.1.16*

Solid app helps with seeing what’s important

### 5/5 — Best I’ve tried

*2023-05-28, version 4.1.16*

I tested this alongside similar apps Moody and iMoodJournal. I was looking for an app that let me record my moods several times a day as I’ve recently begun taking medication that can cause mood swings and my doctor recommended keeping a journal so we know if the dose needs to be adjusted in a few months.

iMoodJournal is more open-ended which seems a little daunting, but I can log everything the way I want to, even medication if I’m so inclined. The analysis functionality is by far the best of the three apps. Any moods or factors that you’ve entered have a running score for the time period you’re viewing so if you’ve tagged an emotion or factor multiple times, it shows you what the average feeling score you had when you selected it. The heat map quality makes it very easy to understand how you were feeling at a glance and I appreciate how it was implemented. However, it was a dumb decision to have the best feeling represented as red and the worst as green by default. That’s not how those colors are used in the real world and it’s unintuitive. Fortunately it’s easy to adjust the color scale in Settings, but it would be even easier for users if there were a few default color scales to choose from or even an invert option.

The only other gripe is that it isn’t clear where the edit button is. When you first start using the app, there’s a break in period due to it’s open-endedness and I wanted to go back through the first week of entries to standardize how things were entered for analysis reasons. I had to open the FAQ because never in a million years would I have expected the edit option to be hidden in the share button. Similarly to adult websites, no one wants to go near the share button for privacy reasons so I really wish they’d move it. Just the idea of clicking the wrong thing in there makes me anxious.

I prefer the guided ease of Moodlight to start with as there’s so many emotions already available to choose from, but similarly to Moody, the analysis function of the app is terrible. It gives you very little grouping and it’s much harder to view trends - an option which is only available through subscription. I purchased Moody at the reduced subscription rate of $5.99/year and tbh even that was too much. They only let you have 15 entries a week in trial mode. Maybe if it was for a direct purchase vs subscription, but the analysis tools aren’t great. If you prefer viewing mostly everything via emojis, maybe Moody is for you. I would never pay ~$20/year for Moodlight. Wouldn’t even be worth it if it was a direct purchase vs subscription. iMoodJournal is cheaper at $2.99 with no furth subscription necessary so the fact that it has the best analysis blows my mind. I don’t feel the need to try any more apps, iMood is providing exactly what I wanted out of a mood tracking app.

***Edit*** After two months of using the app, I have a few more minor gripes. There needs to be a week option on the mood trend graph. The lowest it goes is a month and I just want to view the current week most of the time. The weekly cycle trend is the general trend of how you feel over the course of the week usually, I want to see for just this week. I also wish the Positive and Negative columns were filterable for date range. I logged a feeling at the very beginning that hasn’t come up since, but it’s still at the top of my Negative list two months later.

### 4/5 — Great Reflective app, could use updates

*2023-05-02, version 4.1.16*

A great app to reflect upon the ups and downs and especially helpful if you are in therapy and/or want to examine mood fluctuations. I have ADHD & Autism and suffer from strong moments of Depression. This app had helped me take steps to understand the ups and downs. It requires you to build the muscle to make notes during any intense feelings, but it helps show you the imbalances so you can tackle your individual goals. My biggest issue is that the app feels a bit dated. The way it syncs is old school, and I have lost a couple years of data due to its clunkiness. So be careful when you back it up. Do a manual backup as well JIC. Would love for them to gather some thoughts from users and do a 2023 update. That’s all :)

### 5/5 — More templates

*2023-04-24, version 4.1.16*

Please add more templates

### 5/5 — I’ve been using it for years

*2022-10-01, version 4.1.16*

This app is a workhorse for me, I’ve been using it for years. It has a neat and easy system to record medications, sleep and anything else too.

### 5/5 — Не забрасывайте приложение

*2022-09-14*

Приложение кайф! Пожалуйста, не забрасывайте его.

### 5/5 — Love it but different colours please

*2022-05-21, version 4.1.16*

Love it! But surely red should = bad and green should = good. Not sure there is anyone who uses a RAG rating would have red as good !! Note to Devs - Had a look at the settings but appears to be no way to change the colours, it’s only possible to change the words.

### 2/5 — Needs some UI fixes

*2022-03-21, version 4.1.16*

For those who are colorblind the entry screen and stats may be tougher to use. I’m partially red-green colorblind and although I can see the choices I can tell that someone with more deficiency would have a problem.

The app needs to do automatic backup instead of constantly interrupting me to do a backup.

### 4/5 — My only wish for this app

*2021-12-09, version 4.1.16*

I wish I could track my stress and focus in the same way I can track my mood on the 1-10 scale. For me there is a relationship between my mood, stress, and focus. It would be great if I could layer two trackers on the same graph

### 5/5 — So simple that I use it, daily, for years.

*2021-07-26, version 4.1.16*

This is a perfect app. I have it set to ping me once a day and I record my mood. Takes about 10 seconds, so it's simple to use. As a direct result, I now have several years of trends accumulated so can easily see a period in my life when mood was slipping. This is often not quite so obvious in the moment, which is why this tool is so useful for me.

### 1/5 — Won’t show February onwards

*2022-02-09, version 4.1.16*

Great app I use it a lot but ever since it’s come to feb 2022 it doesn’t let me see anything I post, it’ll go to February but then glitch out and go to feb 1970? Please can this get fixed asap

### 1/5 — Reminders stopped working

*2020-04-26, version 4.1.9*

Reminders stopped working. Tried to contact developer via their website form. It won't send the message and asks me to verify I'm not a robot, but gives no way to do so.

### 1/5 — Bummer :-/

*2020-04-23, version 4.1.9*

Been using this app since 2016. It’s always been simple to use but around the beginning of this year it simply stopped working entirely. Reminders don’t work, backup file is constantly corrupted, synchronize toggles on but a minute later, it’s grey again. Even the sounds don’t work (wasted enough time looking through my phone’s settings - it’s the app).

What brought me here now is that even the fitted graph isn’t working properly, and this might be the most valuable tool the app offers... but now, something is all screwed up; the data is all there, but the graph is different. Somehow the line totally changed without the data changing & now the graphing tool doesn’t mean much anymore, since it’s no longer reflective of the data points as a frame of reference. This only became a problem a couple months ago, as well.

And, for whatever the developers say about getting back to you quicker using their website... I contacted support twice - once in January and again the first week of April - in January, I was asked to confirm my phone make & model (even though all that info is in their own support email template from the app) & the second time, no response. I never received a reply in January after re-submitting my make and model again.

It’s too bad it’s gone this way, I used this tool with my doctor.

**Developer response:** Fixed in 4.1.11

### 1/5 — Latest update broke the UI

*2019-11-19, version 4.1*

Hi developers,

The latest update broke the user interface. I’m experiencing the app cutting off at the edge of the screen. All my templates have changed in size, becoming smaller.

Please fix this issue

I’m using:
iPhone 11 Pro Max
iOS 13.3

### 1/5 — iOS 13 - Broken

*2019-11-19, version 4.1*

Update broke the UI and font colors (not dark mode compatible). Don't update.

### 1/5 — Poor value

*2019-05-07, version 4.0.8*

Could charts and colours. Better and some free apps out there that are easier to use to track symptoms. There is only a mood scale. All other symptoms like for example irritability and anxiety require typing in the symptoms and score. When tracking a number this is not practical especially when ones mood is down. No trial and no refund.

### 1/5 — Intrusive noise

*2018-12-11, version 4.0.4*

If you havent used the app in a few hours, it emits a very loud “BONGGG!” sound that goes on for several minutes and cant be turned off. Its very annoying and sometimes distressing if badly timed. I would find the app very good otherwise, but im considering deleting it because the noise upsets me when im trying to relax or not panic

### 1/5 — Try making it for iPad as well

*2018-09-20, version 3.6.4*

I’m not into seeing an IPhone app I have to expand to “partial” screen size. So I am getting refund. Need to be universal like most developers in the millennium.

### 1/5 — Huge oversight in recording bedtimes

*2018-08-14, version 3.6.2*

I just paid for this app and am very frustrated right now. It will not let me record bedtimes that occur in the AM. It holds those as separate from bedtimes from that occur in the PM so I can’t track my actual bedtimes over time. As someone with bipolar disorder, this is a critical item to track, and my bedtimes will not always be in the PM hours. Being able to track bedtime, wake time, and hours slept and how they correlate with my moods is the primary reason I paid for this app. When will you fix this?

### 1/5 — Good app, or was

*2018-04-09, version 3.5.8*

Great customer service response.

The app is solid, I use it often many times a day, but I cannot overstate my appreciation for an excellent customer response, both in time taken to respond and in the content of the response.

EDIT:

Latest update has app accessing my location not only without first gaining my permission or asking if I want it to, but with my location services in-phone setting set to "never" for this app. It's accessing my location in spite of my phone's settings telling it not to. There is no option in the app to turn off the location, and no option to delete the location.

You do this now? Really?!?! I mean, EVER, but ***NOW***??? With the country/world in an uproar over heinous privacy violations?

I'm getting a new mood journal. I liked this one, but it's no longer private enough for my needs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Excellent app

*2026-08-11, version 4.3.5*

Easy to use, stores historical data and free, best mood app I’ve come across

### 5/5 — Super cool app!

*2025-12-30, version 4.3.5*

Love this app, been using it since 2018 and it’s really nice to see how your mood changes over time and look back at what you were doing. A ‘memories on this day’ feature to see what you were up to in the past would be really cool!

### 5/5 — This is the best Mood Tracker

*2025-09-14, version 4.3.5*

This is the best mood tracker on the App Store. I’ve tried them all and keep coming back to this.

It’s incredible that trackers that charge £30-£50 per year don’t come close to the simplicity and power of this app.

The developers should be commended:
1. One off purchase- rare these days. Thank you
2. They’ve kept it going and functional. Much appreciated.
3. The design and function is so well thought through:

This app has the perfect combination of being simple to enter data each day. You simply choose how you’re feeling (on a scale of 1-10) as often as you like. You attach a single image, either from the camera roll or take a photo. I usually take a selfie. It’s very interesting to see how my face has changed over the past 5 years.

The real power is the hashtag feature. You can create as many as you like about anything. Moods, environment, family. Literally anything. Plus you can add a colon after the word to further alter the degree of the variable. Eg:

If I’m feeling 6/10 and I believe that this is related to my workload I can add a hashtag: #workload. If this is particularly onerous I would add: #workload:9 if it’s light i would do #workload:3 this adds endless flexibility and personalisation.

You can then see exactly how your mood is affected by any variable and the degree to which that variable changes.

The app intelligently amalgamates all the data so you can see how your mood Varys over months, days of the week and hours of the day.

This app is incredible. It’s one of my most used and most useful apps.

### 5/5 — Simple & Powerful

*2025-02-19, version 4.2.1*

This app randomly marks my moods based on a chart I created and displays the data in simple charts that give me insight into my mood patterns and how to respond with where I may be in one of those patterns. I know I sound like a paid advertiser, but this simple app has improved my quality of life. Knowledge is power.

### 5/5 — One of the best apps ever made

*2025-01-04, version 4.1.16*

I have been using iMoodJournal since 2012. That’s 13 years. If this tells you anything about an app and how well it works. I highly recommend it!!!

### 5/5 — Essential

*2024-10-19*

This app has been an essential part of tracking my mood. The random reminders for making an entry are an amazing way to get data from all different times of day/night, thereby getting info on all my activities (or lack there of). I can’t praise this app enough. Thank you! I use the collected data and charts every time I meet with my doctor. It’s so useful, to be able to see my mood swings and to be able to show them to my doctor. I’m better at coping when I can see patterns emerging.

### 5/5 — Best app- the simplest ones always are

*2024-08-24, version 4.1.16*

Been using this app since 2019 and have to say, it’s the only journaling app I have been able to keep up with. It’s a one time app purchase leading to perfect mood tracking without added stress of monthly fees. It’s simplistic nature also allows for complete customization that works for you. I set up a template of questions and hashtags that I answer/fill out at least once a day. I always include a picture to capture a moment of reflection to later appreciate where I was, and where I am today. The app is perfect for someone like me who wants to journal but cannot conform to regular pen and paper- this app has been a welcomed addition to my every day routine for years now.

### 5/5 — Love it but want multiple users

*2024-06-01, version 4.1.16*

Love this app, used it for 2 kids. So if I look at the history you see my stepdaughter then years later, my son. I wish I could enter who it’s for. Anyway it’s sweet to look back and see the pictures of them growing up and when they were happy or sad.

### 5/5 — Best Mood Tracker I’ve Found

*2024-03-13, version 4.1.16*

Really like the fact there are more than 5 basic options for mood and also the tags are very very helpful with identifying what impacts on your mood on a day to day basis. I don’t take selfies lol (a bit of a weird idea) but I do sometimes upload an image to illustrate what I’ve written.

### 5/5 — Love This App

*2023-11-13, version 4.1.16*

I have been using this app on an off for 9 years’. Probably one the most helpful apps I have ever used for my mental health. This app eventually led me to checking in automatically by myself now. I just use this app occasionally when I notice a change in my mood and want to track it.
