### 1/5 — Money hungry app and too much on-boarding also barely works

*2026-05-15*

Hard paywall is ridiculous, you can’t use the app unless you pay & they force you to with a 2 week free trial (The reason it’s 2 weeks is so users forgot to cancel it and get charged) and onboarding is junk. This app is pointless, most banking apps and credit card apps have a spending tracker built in. DO NOT GET.

**Developer response:** Hey Jason — thanks for the candid review.

You're right that banks and credit card apps have spending trackers. They've had them for years. And yet impulse spending & overspending keeps growing. That's because tracking isn't the problem — understanding why you spend is. impause is a behavioral & psychological approach to spend management, not another dashboard of charts.

On the paywall: we charge because we don't sell user financial data, run ads in the app, or take affiliate kickbacks on the products you're trying to stop buying. That costs money. The 2-week trial exists so you can actually use the product before deciding, and you can cancel anytime directly in your Apple subscription settings — we don't control that flow.

Fair point on onboarding feeling long. We're working on it.

### 5/5 — Get this app

I love this app! It has made me rich, if you don’t get it you’re a sucker and I can’t help you

### 5/5 — Life changing

*2026-05-20*

What an app, I never thought I would break my spending habits. Was sure I would continue my life in squalor. Then came impause, now I am heavily invested in the S&P, own a string on rental properties and just bought my wife (who is with me for my newfound riches) a Burkin. Thanks impause!

### 5/5 — Helpful budgeting

*2026-05-20*

Super helpful because it is so different from a regular budgeting app. The purchase pulse is easy, fun, and helps me to rethink why I spend on what I do. The modules are informative and since they can be long I like to be able to take time/ go through them on my time without being made to finish them all at once

### 5/5 — Love this app

*2026-03-25*

Love this app! Has helped me to stop impulse buying and learn about what purchases actually make my life better vs causes regrets

### 5/5 — Game changer

*2026-02-17*

This app is so easy to use and took 2 minutes from downloading it to setting up my first personal spending goal!

### 5/5 — The first app that actually changed my spending habits

*2026-02-17*

I’ve tried every budgeting app out there. They all track your spending. They all show you charts. But none of them actually changed how I behave.

impause is different!

Instead of just telling me where my money went, it helped me understand why I was spending in the first place. Rating my purchases, seeing my regret patterns, and working through the short psychology-based lessons genuinely made me pause before buying.

It doesn’t feel like a spreadsheet. It feels like a coach.

For the first time, I’m not just tracking my money — I’m actually changing my habits. If you struggle with impulse spending, this is the app that finally makes it click.
