Seems like the app gets a problem, then eventually that gets solved until there’s another problem. Currently it’s crashing on me when I try to open any project, which is a common bug. But that’s what the trade off is I suppose. Not for me. ### 3/5 — I have the iPhone and iPad apps *2025-05-10* iPhone never crashes, iPad crashes upon opening more often than it’s just able to open. I’ve not been using the iPad app at all for this reason, tho I occasionally jump on to see if it’s useable, if the issues been fixed. Not yet. I’m running iPad Pro 12 with latest iOS updates and yeah, no idea why it happens. It happens regardless but I also always open it only after closing out all other apps, in case there was some ram issue. Nope. Sad. Ich habe zwei aktuelle iPads. Eigene Samples einzubinden geht ganz gut über Mikro. Anonsten anstrengend. Drittens zu teuer. Es gibt nur ganz wenig mitgeliefertes Material. The attentive [ wether more often preferred] quiets speculation of total abandonment from it’s developers….. As we await future updates or even more much anticipated UpGrade…I’m most certainly standing with many whom would like more project saving options…. Instead of saving each sequence individually to audio copy… The option to save a complete SONG would be the sensible… And offering the option for the Metronome in play mode would be appreciated as well…currently only offered in record mode and thankfully… However,Being able to audition samples for correct tempo/bpm match without having to record first is almost impossible without a metronome while in play-mode…….. 🎶🌪️🏆🏅🎧🎼🎹🎼🎤 Still my favorite chop shop app… ### 1/5 — ABANDONED *2025-01-31, version 2.1.9* This software has clearly been abandoned. Try as you may, it will continue to crash. I and my associates have tried to, for years. I have personally reached out. I asked about crashing issue, and about missing features. I was answered with smoke blown directly into my……”general direction”. They did not and do not care. ### 1/5 — Custome Time Signature *2025-01-29, version 2.1.9* With this app we can only compose most common time signatures. No 5-8 , 7-8 like time signatures. I have been mailing the company since 2017 for custom time signature feature. Some times they answers they have no plan to do it . Once they replied it is in their mind. Meanwhile they have updated the app more than once. Even these updates they didn’t consider it. Finally a months before they replied that in the mid of 2025 they will be updating the app with many new features including customisation in time signature. I am eagerly waiting for it to happen. Don’t know if will do it or not. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not for me *2026-08-27, version 2.2.2* The file system for samples is super outdated when every other app can just pull up ios/ipad “files” app via imports. And honestly just want the mpc hardware ported over with all my inmusic/air plugins plus any iPad/iOS plugins. Extremely doable for Akai I feel so not sure why we are continuing to sell what feels like an app from 2012 or something. ### 1/5 — Dead horse *2026-08-08, version 2.2.2* Heading to Garbage Once having faith for improvement it’s apparent the app and development hasn’t any potential for excel.. Akai Professional has seemingly dis associated from retronyms. As a former beta tester experiencing the inability to sustain adequate operation of this software was discouraging …..Inexperienced tech support , unbelievable consistency of crashes , deletion of programs with a list of additional dysfunctions deterring any of serious producers to rely on …. Retronyms has abandoned a few of their own releases IMPC pro 2 Wouldn’t be any of surprise….. The app once considered a potential stable in the iOS music production world exemplifies the declines of anything failing to be properly maintain….slew of bugs and only one technician whom introduces more malfunctions than appointed to solving …. IMPC pro 2 is not even mentioned at the table of software production…. Poor coding and C- grade integration…. Was once a good app before quality abandonment…… Akai has apparently kick retronyms to the curve…. Unless change it’ll be gone with the wind…… ### 1/5 — Worst app to make beats *2026-04-27, version 2.2.2* This app is not user friendly at all… on top of that I have found the sound library that they offer quite expensive in comparison to the competition. It’s use along with AudioCopy which is also very buggy and sometimes crashes. I was expecting way better from a developer who is using the AKAI name and brand. ### 1/5 — Glad I have other options *2026-04-06, version 2.2.2* On the surface, this software has a lot of desirable specs. And it seems like it would be a producers dream. However, the issues become glaring once you start working. Sample digging alone has become an impassable issue. I have a 13” iPad Pro with plenty of power and storage. But this thing is literally freezing up when I’m going through my sample library to start creating. As a sample based producer, this is everything, and I figured AKAI of all would understand. This software becomes unusable from the jump. Save your money and use something like koala. ### 1/5 — Crash and export static *2025-12-24, version 2.2.1* It use to be good now it constantly crashes, glitches and when you export it has static in the music. I’ve run out of loops😱🤯 and I can’t create any more songs😫please solve this issue in the next update and maybe I’ll consider a nicer review😤 ### 1/5 — Crashed too much *2025-05-30, version 2.2.1* Every time I tried to switch to a new tab it would crash ### 1/5 — No support *2025-05-29, version 2.2.1* Developers never listen to the buyers . ### 1/5 — Leider unbrauchbar *2025-05-16, version 2.1.9* Über Audio Copy gekaufter Sound pack Rawcutz lässt sich weder in die Sound Liste Kopieren noch Speicher Mann muss jedes Mal neu über Audio Copy laden dann direkt auf die Pads legen und dann könnte man kreativ werden wenn die App nicht jedesmal abstürzen würde trotz Meldung keine Reaktion selbst durch löschen über die Dateien folder und erneutes kopieren geht’s nicht in die Library nach etlichen Versuchen und unzähligen Abstürzen werde ich das nächste Mal für die Reise doch direkt die MPC mitnehmen. Schade. Und Mann muss sagen das auch die Pads über a b c d verteilt werden und Mann muss sich wieder durch tippen bis dann die App leider wieder abstürzt….. puhhhhhh ### 1/5 — Update to iOS 18 and new bugs to older iOS Users. *2025-03-26, version 2.1.9* Edit: SINCE THE LAST UPDATE, IOS 12 USERS CAN’T USE ANYMORE BECAUSE OF THE MENU BUGS. THEY UPDATED TO IOS 18 USERS AND MESSED UP THIS AND TABLETOP FOR OLD DEVICES. The app had a lot of potential but looks like the developers was happy and done with the updates from the jump. Packs and things to spend money are always updated. The App could not catch up with the 2011 Beatmaker 2 let alone with the “new” apps in the market. It’s a sad abandoned project IMO. Waiting for the iMPC3 with all the things that the second version should have. I just have 1 request though, will there be a stem separation feature coming down the pipeline any time soon ? That is becoming the norm with sampling based music apps. Koala has there’s and it’s pretty decent. Also there is a bug where the turntable platter’s gui acts weird and displays wrong. Viva mpc for iPad! My favorite app honestly, it’s like the perfect marriage between koala and BeatMaker with a drambo thrown in. Wonderful. But I realized that this was only happening when I overwhelmed the system by uploading a crazy amount of my own samples in a way that this company never recommended.
