### 4/5 — Arg!!!

*2021-04-07*

So, Im ranked in the top 5%. I keep playing and playing and playing and..... I can not get to the next level to open new levels. It is a really horrible tease to show more levels but have no way to access. There was no warning up front of what it would take to get more levels. Beyond irritating.

### 4/5 — Great game, fix level unlocks

*2020-10-12*

As others have said, developers would stand to benefit from actually listening to reviewer feedback and making level unlocks cheaper. It’s a great game but sadly I will never experience more than half the content because I do not have the time to play the same levels over and over again to grind crowns. Some is ok but it is too much. Great game with a pretty good implementation for mobile.

### 4/5 — Really Fun, But Needs a Tutorial

*2020-07-25*

I was looking forward to this game since I saw Rodney Smith demonstrate the physical dice game on his YouTube series “How It’s Played.” However, my local board game store never got it in stock and I never got around to ordering it from Amazon. When the digital version finally debuted, I was really excited to finally get to play it, but by then I had forgotten how to play it. Well, the iOS version doesn’t exactly help that, the “tutorial” is just a quick overlay and the manual requires tons of scrolling through text. I rewatched the How It’s Played video and was able to jump right in. Once I got started playing, I quickly fell in love with the game. While I would love to have all of the maps available, I do appreciate then replayability and having to choose your next one carefully. I sat down with the intention of playing one game and before I knew it, I had completed 6 games and unlocked multiple maps. Definitely going to be playing this game for awhile.

### 4/5 — Addictive but flawed

*2020-06-28*

Quite addictive but the trophy button on the main page doesn’t work and now I feel stuck in the game. I have +71 stars on all 7 settlements and I can’t go any further. A little advice on how to progress in the game would be nice

### 3/5 — Useless Tutorial

*2020-06-18*

The app works fine, but the tutorial explains nothing. After finished it you have no idea how to play, or even what you’re trying to do.

### 3/5 — Settlement Reroll

*2020-06-07*

Sadly, when automatically offered a reroll (Canteen) in Settlement #2, it is not possible to view your play area to be able to better decide how to proceed. Working mechanics is already in place on other screens (tap and hold outside of the dialog box to hide it temporarily). Why in some place but not in another? :^(

### 4/5 — Great game

*2020-06-04*

Really good implementation overall. Wish the cloud save functionality was working so my progress would follow me between iPhone and iPad. When they fix this it will be a 5 star rating.

### 3/5 — Good Start

*2020-05-28*

Good start. Love the world created in Imperial Settlers and this version was an auto-buy for me.

A few problems noticed on first playthough:
*iPad version is portrait, not landscape...not a dealbreaker.
*Tool Shop does not work. I purposely rushed a tool shop and building to get +2 resource collection and it doesn’t work as it is supposed to although it does state the bonus.

Overall, app is good and I look forward to seeing other Imperial Settlers games ported to digital if they follow.

### 5/5 — Great implementation of a fun RandW game!!

*2020-05-28*

Title says it all. This is a solid and fun implementation / adaptation.

### 5/5 — Ein netter Zeitvertreib …

*2020-05-27*

… bis Portal Games uns endlich eine Aktualisierung für Neuroshima Hex! bringt.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No way to get past 17 villages

*2023-12-02*

There’s no indication how to progress past the first 17 villages. Is the game broken?

### 1/5 — System crash

*2020-08-22*

I can not get the game to work. Frustrating, it loads then crashes

### 1/5 — Too Much Grinding to Unlock New Levels

*2020-06-18*

What is the point of requiring you to replay levels so many times to unlock additional levels.

Will never buy another Portal game again.

**Developer response:** To achieve the highest score. Practice makes perfect ;-)

### 2/5 — Will there ever be additional content ?

*2024-03-20*

Games is great but the company has no interest in evolving the app further. So many more levels could be added. So do it. Please

**Developer response:** Thank you for opinion, we are working on, the updates are coming soon!

### 3/5 — What score do I need to get to a new level?

*2023-10-09*

What score do I need to get to a new level?

### 3/5 — Fun game but…

*2023-09-08*

What’s the point the random favor tokens? I get it if you play the physical game with 2 or more players, but for the app it is not good. The extra worker is by far the best favour token, it seems impossible to beat the 80 points when it is not available so what’s the point? It is hard enough to beat the 80 points and get 3 starts in most levels.

Also, unlocked 17 sheets but can’t unlock any more even though I have 282 crowns?

I’m truly hoping for an update or at least an official reply

### 3/5 — Hope to have an update soon…

*2022-02-27*

It’s being a while since we had an update with new « sheets » to play…!!

### 3/5 — Freezes up

*2020-12-14, version 1.0.16*

I really like this fun addictive game, but twice now it has completely frozen up, ruining the session. Hope they fix this!

### 3/5 — Good, but could be better

*2020-08-25*

Agree with other reviewers. Maps progressively require more wins to unlock which I like to a certain degree, but it’s too much. The player board is not viewable in certain situations where it would be helpful to see. And the undo button is limited to the main action phase. Aside from this, the game is entertaining.

### 3/5 — Lifeless

*2020-06-28*

It's an adequate port but lacking any real charm or joy. The dice rolling and menu screens really break immersion, the tutorial doesn't actually explain why you're doing what you're doing. The grind is much better, but there's styl still little to recommend.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great implementation of board game

*2022-02-09*

This is a great little game that is true to its physical form. Knowledge of the physical game helps and it may not be as easy to understand without looking at an online tutorial/review about the actual board game.

### 5/5 — Top un beau jeu avec de chouettes animations

*2021-04-08*

Même s’il manque encore l’adaptation en français de ce jeu. Il est chouette et on finit par comprendre le texte à force d’y jouer.

### 5/5 — Very cool game

*2021-03-03*

I stumbled upon this game, and I’m so glad I did. It’s perfect for a casual gamer like me who wants something interesting, with some depth, but not overly complicated, that can be played in a few minutes, like during a break from work.

The design is awesome and the UI as easy as can be. If you read the short manual, then play once with the tutorial, the strategy will start to click and you’ll get the hang of it quickly as you continue to play.

I really appreciate the fair up-front price with no ads or unfair IAP. This developer did a great job, and I appreciate that. We need more developers like this who monetize the right way.

Thank you so much for making this game! It’s really fun to have a board/dice game you can play here and there when you have time.

### 5/5 — Quick and easy!

*2020-10-12*

This app is actually based on the board game of the same name from Portal Games. It’s plays quick and is relatively simple to learn. As you play, you get different buildings to play with so it a always changing (you could also replay the same setup an infinite number of times). The tutorial provides everything you need to know to play. Over time you will learn the strategies to get better scores! Perfect game for those small down times at the doctors office, etc!

### 5/5 — Addictive

*2020-09-03*

Brilliant roll & write app. Addictive. Beat your high score. Lovely animation. Highly recommended.

### 5/5 — Amazing digital adaptation.

*2020-06-03*

The game is really fun and with simple rules, already had many hours playing it.

### 5/5 — Superb and easy!

*2020-06-01*

I rarely rate games anymore but I so surprised and excited about this. The op game was terrible if you didn’t have the wooden pieces from Imperial Settlers to help you track how many resources you had. This app is even easier and very fast playing. One of the best roll and writes!

### 5/5 — Très bien

*2020-05-30*

Fini les photocopies, exit les crayons, gameplay bien fait, un régal, merci, iPad Pro

### 5/5 — Nice campaign with bite sized scenarios

*2020-05-30*

Tutorial a bit thin but it doesn’t take too long to figure out the rhythm of the game. Would be nice to share progress between iPhone and iPad?

### 5/5 — Incredible product

*2020-05-28*

Cannot believe the value in this great little roll’n write. My new # 1 time waster on my phone.
