Immersive. After the last big iOS update, I couldn’t log in as others have noted. Completely deleting the app and reinstalling it fresh worked to let me log in no problem with saved password. ### 3/5 — 2FA *2025-01-27* doesn’t work with 2fa. ### 3/5 — Almost there *2025-01-24* Mostly nice. Like the image-centric UI. Issues so far is that there’s no way to overlay like counts and comment counts onto the images in the feed. You have to open each post to see that. Also, you can zoom an image but not pan, which seems silly. As I, and hopefully many more, flee from the maniacal social media scene, I still wanted to share and view artwork. Impressia is great for the art fix. One comment is the hashtag functionality doesn’t seem operable. Aside from that, I will highly recommend everyone jump ship and join the fediverse. ### 4/5 — Nice, clean pixelfed view *2025-01-09* I like the clean, clutterless UI, it puts the pics at the front, and everything else a tap away. Only one thing bugs me: pinch to zoom always zooms from the center. There’s just no way to navigate around within the picture when zoomed in (edit: you can move left and right, but not up and down). ### 3/5 — Captha and Ip Checker Are MORONIC *2024-12-05, version 3.0.2* I love this app, but recently they added an ip checker so that when I move or use a vpn it bricks and then I have to remember my password and the captcha DOES NOT WORK, you sit there and drag and drag and drag the thing and captcha also trains demonic ghoulgul ai ### 2/5 — Hashtags dont work *2024-10-23, version 3.0.2* Hashtag searches all result in an error message saying that the hashtag doesn’t exist even when it definitely does ### 4/5 — Nice *2024-09-18* Prettiest Pixelfed client in the AppStore, easy to use, but I liked the old name and icon way better. ### 2/5 — The ugliest icon ever *2024-08-05* Used to be a nice app until the dev decided the name and the icon was too nice for it and put them away for another project. And yes, I’ve seen two extra icons borrowed from other apps in the settings. That’s it. ### 1/5 — Can’t log in *2025-01-14, version 3.0.2* Unable to log in. Username/password credentials work on the website, but the app says the password is wrong. Sign in with mastodon says it works (an email comes from mastodon saying it was successful) but the app doesn’t show as logged in. ### 1/5 — “Contact and admin” if there’s an issue, but we won’t let you know how to do that *2025-01-14, version 3.0.2* For some reason I can’t make an account because my email address is already in use on the platform. This must be a common “bug” (bot farm?) because it’s addressed on the FAQ with an instruction to “contact the admins.” THEY GIVE YOU NO WAY TO CONTACT THESE SO-CALLED ADMINS. I’m calling this a scam. Somehow they have an active account using my email and provide no way to address this known issue. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM A META APP? ### 1/5 — Inoperable in iOS 18 *2024-12-19, version 3.0.2* Could not log in to anything. Unusable as of December 18 2024. Don’t bother downloading. ### 1/5 — No home feed *2024-12-11, version 3.0.2* Home feed does not work, just shows a message saying that statuses could not be shown because the data is not in the right format. Repeatedly. ### 1/5 — Where’s the help? *2024-04-07, version 2.0.5* I uploaded a photo & accidentally marked it as sensitive. I wanted to edit it so I can remove the sensitive designation. A community support blog said when viewing your photo to click the edit button. There is no edit button! There’s a settings button. My only option is to delete the photo & start over. I clicked on the “support” link on the App Store & it takes me to a bio about the guy who owns the app. This is the most un-user photo sharing app I’ve ever used. Pixelfed could learn something from 500pix , EyeEym, Vero, & IG. I also a msg about XL something text for vision impaired. What??? HOW do I turn it on??? Where’s the support??? ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Its better feeling than the main app *2025-07-17, version 3.1.1* My main gripe is its way too zoomed in for the feed, more options like a grid would be nice, the profile view is a lot nice I was able to login and use it fine unlike others in old outdated reviews, so ill bump it to a 5 stars Would like more view options.
