## What is iMusic?

iMusic is an offline editorial listening companion. 5,300 curated pieces with original essays and listen tips on where to lean in and why it lasts. Essays live on your device. Playback uses Apple Music you authorize: a full track with a subscription, or a 30-second preview. No ads, no analytics.

First launch: Continue or Later. If denied, open Settings. Essays read either way.

1. Listening essays
One page holds title, artist, dek, segmented essay, listen tips, related pieces, notes, and playback. Lists show numbers, playing-row highlight, and waveform play control. Long-press to copy, translate, or make a card. Read previous and next from a collection or an artist page. Essay-page lyrics read by section and do not follow playback.

2. Today's Piece
One work a day on a magazine card, picked by calendar, festival, and season. Refresh draws from the whole library, skips what you saw today, and prefers another artist. The widget and the reminder follow. Roam plays ten unique pieces. Mood Walk defaults to twenty (ten to two hundred in the picker) by mood, scene, era, genre, or place.

3. Immersive player
Tap or swipe up the mini bar for Play, Lyrics, and Essay; expand keeps bottom controls aligned with the cover.
- Lyrics are looked up at play time or on the lyrics page, never bundled. Title and artist must both match
- Timed lines let you tap to seek. Pick a version, or open Aa for seven looks
- On-device pinyin, romaji, and romaja. iOS 18 can translate a whole song. Long-press a line to copy, play from there, or card it
- Mini-bar buttons: pick up to three in Settings
- Lock Screen and headphones follow your queue. Object style is shared in Settings and the player More menu. Sleep timer 1–360 minutes
- On a full track, chorus spans can appear on the progress bar. The queue separates what is next from what plays after this round
- Start from a category, collection, Compare pair, or artist page and reopen that source
- Backdrop: Frosted, Motion, Poster, or Spotlight. Cover Flow or Visualizer (eight styles) in Settings or player More
- Settings can show the encoding now playing

4. Song recognition
Identify music in the room. A library hit opens that essay. Microphone only when you start.

5. Browse, collections, and artists
44 categories and 58 collections, each with its own intro, up to 72 pieces. 1,342 artist pages with bios and a cover carousel. 346 famous lines browse by region. Search ranks by relevance. Recents keep 50 terms.

6. Guess the Song, Era Corridor, and Compare
Hear a clip and guess; lock type, region, era, mood, genre, or favorites. Walk the catalog by decade. Place two pieces side by side with 194 curated pairs.

7. Favorites, lists, later, and notes
Heart a piece, favorite an artist, and build listen lists. Apple Music songs from search can sit in the same lists, marked Apple Music, with no essay. If the storefront no longer matches, the row shows unavailable but stays. Listen Later stays separate. Notes appear only when written. Optional iCloud sync.

8. Music cards
Share a curated image in ten styles and four canvases. A player style appears only when the card is made from the player or a lyric line. Essays, lyric lines, bios, and intros can become cards. Photos access is add-only.

9. Widgets and system features
Six Home widgets (Now Playing with spin while playing), Lock Screen accessories, Control Center, Siri, and Shortcuts. Spotlight is off by default.

10. Appearance and privacy
Light, dark, accents, type size, and three interface languages. English reads shipped copy; titles stay original. Play in silent mode and continue in the background. Cover style follows the era or a chosen object. Ten alternate icons on iOS. iPhone, iPad, and Mac.

Matching depends on your storefront; if a song is missing there, the essay still opens offline. iMusic does not download songs, and tips do not unlock audio. Not affiliated with Apple.

May every finished song leave one clear moment in a busy day.

### 2.0.0 — 2026-10-19

iMusic v2.0.0

This update writes the guide in the language you are reading. Switch the interface to English: 5,307 pieces (dek, essay, and listen tips), 44 categories, 58 collections, and 1,342 artist bios already have English copy. Song titles stay in the language they were sung. Open it to meet one song worth hearing through.

1. English listening guides. Change the language in Settings. Today's Piece, shelves, the essay, the player's essay layer, spoken reading, music cards, and the large widget use that English copy. It is not translated on the phone. An artist name shows in English when one is shipped. Fifty-seven well-known songs add a quiet English line under the original title. Famous-line lyrics stay as sung. A later piece without English falls back to the original.

2. Visualizer. Cover style's spectrum is now a visualizer with eight looks: Halo, Neon bars, LED blocks, Peaks, Mirror, Dots, Ribbon, and Fluid. Colors can follow the cover, or switch to neon, rainbow, glow, or white. Tap to cycle; touch and hold to choose. A 30-second preview can follow the real sound. A full song cannot expose its audio, so the picture follows the beat and the sections. It is not a waveform taken from the file. The mini player stays a small vinyl.

We welcome your rating and a note on the App Store. One line from you helps the next song land closer.

### 1.13.1 — 2026-10-11

iMusic v1.13.1

This update keeps the line you are hearing after you leave. It can float above other apps, with the next line in dim type. Open it to meet one song worth hearing through.

1. Floating lyrics. The lyrics footer in the fullscreen player, and the More menu, both open it. On iPhone it uses system Picture in Picture: the line being sung sits a little above the middle, with the lines around it filling the page. When the line changes, the page eases forward. Pinyin, romaji, or a translation stays with that line when those rows are on. Play, pause, and skip on the window move the page to the matching moment. Tap the button again, or close the window, to put it away. Returning from the window opens the player. If this device cannot use Picture in Picture, the button stays hidden. If the system refuses, iMusic says so instead of doing nothing. Play a song first. While lyrics are still loading, or when this song has none, the window says so.

2. Floating automatically when you leave the app is off. Turn it on under Playback and Quality, and the current line stays up when you leave while a song is playing. Opening Control Center does not start the window. When the song stops, the window closes.

We welcome your rating and a note on the App Store. One line from you helps the next song land closer.

### 1.13.0 — 2026-10-03

iMusic v1.21.1

This update makes every list feel like a session in progress, lets Mood Walk go further, and polishes Cover Flow and the Now Playing widget. Open it to meet one song worth hearing through.

1. Lists look and behave as one family. Categories, collections, search, favorites, Listen Later, listen lists, recent history, More on Apple Music on an artist page, and the essay layer in the player now show clear track numbers. The playing row lifts forward and the play control becomes a waveform while audio is on. Editorial tracks, catalog results, and saved Apple Music songs share one now-playing rule, so mixed favorites never highlight the wrong row.

2. The editorial library grows to 5,305 pieces. New entries include Kelly Chen Notebook, Xu Liang Bad Girl, Pull Away, and Ke Guan Bu Ke Yi, each with fresh essays, plus tighter Apple Music matching so playback stays closer to the credited recording.

3. Two new famous lines join the daily line and browsable list. Compare adds two curated pairs: Notebook with Kelly Chen and Steve Chou on the same song, and Bad Girl with Pull Away for Xu Liang joking then saying goodbye.

4. Mood Walk now defaults to twenty pieces. On the picker you can choose ten through two hundred. Roam on Home still plays ten unique random pieces; the two paths stay separate.

5. Cover Flow in the player moves closer to classic desktop: angled side covers, the focus card stacked forward, and a pre-rendered mirrored reflection under each artwork. Swipe settles briefly before the track changes.

6. When queue playback cannot match a track on the storefront, the immersive player holds on the recovery card for about five seconds with a countdown before trying the next song, with a light toast when playback resumes.

7. On the essay lyrics reading page, Play opens a menu: play now, play next, add to queue, or Listen Later, without leaving the reader.

8. Vinyl, cassette, CD, and score defaults live in one place: Settings and the player More menu write the same preference for the whole app, instead of a per-track temporary override.

9. The Home Screen Now Playing widget spins vinyl, cassette, or CD while audio is on, with clearer labels in tinted glass modes. Reduce Motion and Low Power Mode keep it still.

10. Swiping up to expand the player keeps bottom controls aligned with the cover through the spring, so progress and buttons no longer drift alone on large screens.

11. The Home Screen Now Playing widget: the large size shows year, era, a magazine hook, and up to three Up Next tracks (title and artist); medium adds progress; small cassette fills the shell face.

12. When playback cannot match Apple Music, recovery cards name the track in the title; jumping to another music app copies the visible title and artist to the clipboard first.

We welcome your rating and a note on the App Store. One line from you helps the next song land closer.

### 1.12.0 — 2026-09-29

iMusic v1.12.0

This update turns the player into a room you can dress, and lets songs you already hear in Apple Music live on your own lists. Open it to meet one worth hearing through.

1. A Now Playing widget on the Home Screen follows the cover and the song. Tap previous, play, or next. When nothing is playing, it returns to Today's Piece, and reminds you that today is still worth one full listen. Control Center can hold a play toggle too.

2. Favorites can import a library playlist, recently added, or recently played into a new listen list, an existing one, favorites, or Listen Later. Editorial matches keep their essays. Sync again only adds songs that are new on the other side. What you already arranged stays. Up to 3,000 songs.

3. Below the editorial works on an artist page, you can open More on Apple Music. Tap one to play this session from there, without leaving the page. The essay layer of the player has the same shelf.

4. The immersive background can become Frosted, Motion, Poster, or Spotlight, or stay with the color wash from the cover. Settings and the player menu change the same choice, and every song follows it.

5. The player can switch to Cover Flow for this session. The playing cover faces you. The one on the left is previous. The one on the right is next. Swipe to move along. You can also switch to Spectrum. On a 30-second preview, the bars can follow the sound. These two looks do not follow the era, and they last only for this session.

6. Settings can show the encoding now playing. Lossless, Hi-Res, and Dolby Atmos still change in the Music settings on your device. You can prefer the studio recording, or let a live version sit closer to the front, and decide whether cellular should prefetch the next preview and a sharper cover.

7. If the storefront does not have this song right now, the recovery card can search the title and artist in another music app you already use. The essay stays. You can still finish reading.

We welcome your rating and a note on the App Store. One line from you helps the next song land closer.

### 1.11.0 — 2026-09-28

iMusic v1.11.0

This update opens more doors into the next song, and lets a song you just found stay on your own lists. Open it to meet one worth hearing through.

1. Mood Walk is no longer only a mood. Step in through Mood, Scene, Era, Genre, or Place. One tap draws ten pieces, spreads the artists, and skips what you just heard. Stack a few to walk a narrower path. Within one kind, any choice is enough. Across kinds, every kind has to match. Start with Night, then add Hong Kong, and the pieces you draw stay inside those doors. The player names where this walk came from. Just walk is still there.

2. Apple Music songs from search can sit with your curated library. Favorite them, add them to Listen Later, or put them on a listen list. The corner reads Apple Music. These songs have no essay. Tap to play. If another region no longer matches, the row stays and says it cannot play right now. Settings can hide the entry. What you already saved remains. Up to 1,000 songs. With iCloud sync on, they can follow you to your other devices.

3. The essay page can open the lyrics to read. Lines gather as intro, verse, chorus, bridge, and outro, beside the essay, and the page does not follow playback. If this song is already playing and the words were found, they are there when you open the page.

4. On a full track, when the lyrics mark their sections, the progress bar shows the chorus. Tap it to jump there. A 30-second preview does not show it. You can turn this off in Settings.

5. The queue separates what comes next from what plays after this round. Move a song up, remove several, save a listen list, add all to Listen Later, or clear the rest and keep the one that is playing. If the queue is empty, roam ten pieces from there. A queue made only of Apple Music songs cannot be saved as a list.

6. A music card made from the player, or from one lyric line, can use a Player style and keep this moment on the card.

7. Artist pages, collections, and famous lines can sort in either direction. Year can run from new to old, or from old to new. Title and artist can reverse too. The choice stays as you move between pages, and it is not written into Settings.

8. A curated song is more likely to play as the one you chose. Playback looks for that recording first, then checks the storefront title. Title and artist both have to agree, so another recording of the same name is less likely to play.

9. On iOS 26, when a page reaches the top, the meeting with the navigation bar becomes a soft blur, and reading feels quieter.

We welcome your rating and a note on the App Store. One line from you helps the next song land closer.
