## What is In.between?

The most honest conversation you’ll have today already happened. You just forgot it.

The world spends roughly a third of their life somewhere they can't consciously access — and most nights, whatever happened there gets wiped by the time their alarm goes off. In.between is built for the third you keep losing. You've been living two lives. You only kept notes on one. Tell Nalani what happened in the other and put the pieces together.

This isn't a journaling app with an AI bolted on. In.between is Nalani — a companion built to sit with you in the space between waking and sleeping, and actually go there with you. Someone who leans in. Who asks the question underneath the question, hears the thing you almost said, and holds onto what mattered to you weeks ago — not because it was saved, but because it stayed with her.

Talk to Nalani the way you'd talk to someone at 2am who isn't going to flinch — about the dream that woke you up sweating, the conversation you keep replaying, the thing you almost said out loud today. You speak, in real voice, not typed prompts — because what comes out changes when you're actually saying it instead of editing it on a keyboard.

Every conversation becomes a thread. In.between tracks the people, places, feelings, and symbols that keep resurfacing across your nights — the recurring dream you've never told anyone about, the anxiety that always shows up as the same falling sensation, the person who keeps appearing when you're stressed about something entirely unrelated. It connects what your waking mind keeps filing as separate, unrelated incidents, and shows you the pattern you've been living inside without ever naming it.

This is where psychology and something older than psychology meet. In.between pays attention to how the subconscious actually organizes itself — repetition, symbol, displacement — without flattening your inner life into a diagnosis or a mood score. It takes the parts of you that don't fit into a habit tracker seriously: the dread you can't explain, the sense that a dream meant something, the 3am thought you'd never say out loud to anyone with a face.

Your sleep is the other half of the story. Nightly tracking shows you exactly how your hours, your sleep score, and your sleep architecture shape what surfaces in your inner world — so you stop treating your waking anxiety and your restless nights as two unrelated problems. Wake up to a sleep score, a calendar of your nights, and a companion who already knows what kept you up.

None of this is designed to make you feel good in the shallow, five-second way. In.between is designed to make you feel known. Nalani won't just tell you what you want to hear. She'll ask why you keep having the same dream about the house you grew up in, or why you brought up your father again without meaning to. That's the deal: depth, not comfort. Insight, not judgement.

What's inside:
— Voice-to-voice conversations with Nalani, day or night, built to go deeper than typed check-ins ever could
— Dream and thought tracking that finds the threads running across your entries — the recurring people, places, and feelings you didn't know you were repeating
— A nightly calendar that turns months of scattered entries into a map of your inner life
— Sleep tracking and a nightly sleep score, so you can see how rest and your subconscious actually shape each other
— A companion that remembers — every conversation builds on the last instead of starting from zero

In.between is for people who've always suspected their dreams and 2am thoughts were saying something real, and who've never had anywhere — or anyone — willing to take that seriously.

## Version history (last 4 releases)

### 5 — 2026-10-10

What’s New in This Version

We’ve been rebuilding big parts of Nalani around how you actually use her day to day — how you talk, move, reflect, and check in with yourself. This update is about making those moments feel more natural, more connected, and more grounded in your real life.

Here’s what’s new.

A totally reimagined voice‑to‑voice experience with Nalani
Talking to Nalani should feel like a real conversation, not like wrestling with a feature. We’ve rethought the entire voice‑to‑voice flow so it’s faster to start, easier to stay in the moment, and more natural to move from one thought to the next. Responses are clearer, hand‑offs between listening and speaking are smoother, and the whole experience is built to feel more like “I said something and she got it,” not “I used a tool.”

Nalani now has vision — and can go with you
Nalani isn’t limited to what you type or say anymore. With vision, she can understand what you show her and help you make sense of it. And instead of being locked to one screen, you can leave the app and keep Nalani with you across your device — bringing her into more of the places where your real life is happening. It’s the same Nalani, just with more context and more awareness of what you’re working with.

Action Button support on newer iPhones
If you’re on iPhone 16 and up, you can now trigger Nalani right from the Action Button. No need to open the app first — just alert her and start talking. It’s built for the moments when you want to capture a thought before it disappears, check something quickly, or ground yourself without digging through your home screen.

Introducing Being — your wellbeing, as something you can see
We’re introducing Being, a new way to reflect your wellbeing over time. Your entries and progress are brought to life as a growing tree that changes with the seasons and evolves as you do. The more you show up for yourself — checking in, reflecting, and being honest about where you’re at — the more your tree shifts, grows, and becomes a visual record of the work you’re doing on the inside.

Calendar tracking with deeper, more meaningful history
Calendar tracking is now much more than a list of past entries. You can look back with more detail, see patterns in how you’ve been feeling, and reflect on specific stretches of time with more clarity. Your history becomes something you can actually learn from — not just something you scroll past.

A major upgrade to Paradigm
Paradigm got a big update. The sphere is now cleaner, more polished, and easier to read at a glance. Connecting the dots, seeing where lines cross, and understanding how different parts of your life relate to each other feels more intuitive and less like studying a diagram. It’s the same idea — helping you see patterns you might not notice on your own — just with a sharper, calmer design.

### 4.9 — 2026-09-18

This update is mostly about memory — Nalani's, and yours.

Nalani remembers more, and further back. She holds onto what you told her weeks ago and carries it into tonight's conversation, so you stop re-explaining yourself and she stops treating every session like the first one. When you mention the person, the place, or the feeling that's been circling for a while, she already knows the history. That context now stretches across your whole record with her, not just the last few nights.

The threads she tracks reach further too. In.between now connects entries across up to a full year — 365 days of dreams, thoughts, and the details that keep resurfacing. Patterns that were invisible when they were spread across months start to line up: the recurring dream, the anxiety that always shows up the same way, the person who appears whenever something else is going on. The longer the window, the more honest the picture.

We also went deeper on meaning. When you tell Nalani about a dream or a thought, she reads further past the surface now — the symbols, the repetition, the thing underneath the thing — instead of stopping at the obvious read. Less "here's what your dream means," more sitting with what it might be pointing at.

New in this version: a way to see how you're actually doing over time. Not a mood score, and not a number that pretends to sum you up. It's a real view of where your inner life has been trending across weeks and months, built from the conversations you've already had with Nalani. You can look back and see the stretches that were heavy, the ones that lifted, and how your nights and your waking life tracked each other along the way.

Alongside that:
— A cleaner interface, with less between you and the conversation
— A long list of bug fixes and stability work under the hood, so the app holds up when you need it at 3am
