### 5/5 — Excellent App

*2014-03-30, version 1.0.0*

This is a beautifully constructed app that illustrates how fun and cool math can be in a fun, interactive, and easy to understand way. I would highly recommend it for anyone with even a passing interest in Mathematics.

### 5/5 — Wonderful App

*2014-03-30*

Amazing app and one of the best examples of modern app design that I have seen. A new way to look at and learn math concepts.

### 5/5 — Shows what the iPad's true potential is

*2014-03-28*

Beautiful presentation of some awesome content. Makes math accessible in a way that showcases the iPad's true potential.

### 5/5 — Beautifully Done

*2014-03-28*

Great way to get someone excited about a subject that is not easy for a novice like myself to explain / illustrate

### 5/5 — Math really can be beautiful

*2014-03-27*

I loved math at school but unfortunately lost interest somewhere along the line. Probably during endless calculus classes! I thought I'd try this app to rekindle my past interests, and I wasn't disappointed. This app focuses on the most exciting aspects of math, with beautiful visualisations that made me realise how much I've missed mathematics. I was worried that I didn't have enough math knowledge to enjoy this app, but Ian Stewart's explanations and interactives made me wonder at the simplicity of these mathematical concepts. This app made them easy to understand. A must have for anyone with an inquisitive mind.

### 5/5 — Brilliant guide to maths

*2014-03-27, version 1.0.0*

I am a fan of Ian Stewart and so was excited to learn about this app. I downloaded it this morning and was not disappointed. It's a fun guide to some clever ideas and it makes everything very clear. The demonstrations that you can play with in the app make explaining some of the trickier ideas much easier.

I can't recommend this highly enough!

### 5/5 — An innovative and refreshing take on mathematics

*2014-03-27, version 1.0.0*

This app brings to life some astounding ideas and concepts. I was pleased to see Ian Stewart on full form, with his text brought to life by amazing interactive content. At no point did this in any way feel like a text book, as you get immersed in beautiful demonstrations that look great whilst also helping you understand the maths. This is very good at making at complex ideas easy to understand for anyone with the slightest knowledge of maths.

A must have for any Ian Stewart fan, along with anyone wanting to find out what maths is all about.

### 5/5 — A beautiful exploration of mathematics

*2014-03-27, version 1.0.0*

I haven't had much chance to experiment with maths since school, and I'm surprised to say I missed it. This app is a beautiful exploration of the more exciting, and as it turns out more fundamental, aspects of maths that they just don't tell you about at school. I was worried that I might not be mathematically minded enough to enjoy this app, but stunning visualisations and interactivity make even the more complex ideas easy to understand.

Highly recommended.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I don't get it!

*2014-04-07, version 1.0.0*

I love the beauty of Maths and numbers. I own several books on mathematical relationships, numbers, etc. so I thought I would love this App. Unfortunately the opposite is true. I find there is a distinct lack of detail and creativity in the text. It only moderately held my attention and only because I'm a diehard number lover. My opinion is that it would bore anyone else to tears. The puzzles were basic and the graphics were outdated. I think with this App the only people you're preaching to are those already in the choir.

### 1/5 — I Should Have Listened

*2014-04-03*

I should have listened to the other reviews and not bought this. I thought I could use it to teach my 16 year old some math because I am by no means a mathematician. I hated math growing up and this app just made me hate it even more.

### 2/5 — Not for the kids

*2014-03-31*

I bought this thinking it would help explain/make math fun for my older children. No. This is definitely for adults that like to play with math. I am one of those, fortunately, so the app isn't a total waste of money. I am sorely disappointed that my older children can't make good use of it though. There don't seem to be any apps out there for them!

### 2/5 — Little explanations and few interactives!

*2014-03-28*

I was expecting, as most of who's this app is targeted for as i would think, a clear explanations of some of the its topics that satisfy someone without a mathematical background, by using many interactive lessens. But instead, this app has few interactives and its mostly an abridged text that can only be fully understood by someone who is already familiar with the topics and thus mostly would not bother with this app.
This not how a "Touch Press" app should be.

### 3/5 — Hmmm

*2014-05-13*

As usual good looking app from touch press. But very low on content.

### 3/5 — Nice try but not enough material

*2014-05-10*

This is a very greedy application. The price is too high and the amount of material is too low. But it is stylish. Also audio explanations would be much better then plain text.

### 5/5 — Very good

*2021-02-01*

I like how it is more quality over quantity, very good!

### 5/5 — High quality content-- a rare gem of an app

*2018-07-26, version 1.2.0*

This is really good quality content. Most "maths" apps are just formulas or calculators or random computational exercises. This one actually gives a lot of motivation and intuition behind important mathematical ideas. A great companion to the book of the same title.

If you're looking for a maths textbook with exercises and tutorials on solving equations, this isn't the app for you. If want to read about and explore mathematical ideas like infinity and primes, this is the app for you. It's got a handful of puzzles and mathematician biographies as well. The interactive aspects of it are informative and aesthetically pleasing, especially the geometric constructions.

I wish there were more apps like this. This is my favourite app from Touchpress.

**Developer response:** Many thanks for the kind words and the positive review! We're delighted to hear you're finding the app so useful! StoryToys Support Team

### 5/5 — Pretty Amazing.

*2014-10-20*

My 10 Year Old Son is really into Math at School. Go Figure. Myself? At Age 52, this program has taught me that what I do Not know about Numbers is vast...but this software is actually entertaining, he can't put it down and even I am amazed by it. When my Son let's me check it out of course...

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2014-07-08, version 1.0.1*

A fantastic exploration of the wonder and beauty of mathematics

## Most praised reviews (6 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Whiners

*2014-04-04*

Stop whining. My seven year old loves this app. If you like math you'll like this. Don't expect it to turn you into a math whiz if you already dislike math.

### 5/5 — Fantastic learning experience!

*2014-04-04, version 1.0.0*

This app uses the iPad medium to naturally explain some trickily math concepts like Fourier decomposition. I thoroughly recommend this app to parents and anyone who wants to explore maths but has always been afraid of the complexity.

### 5/5 — Great

*2014-04-01*

For the math majors: Nice interactive features you will enjoy even if you already know the content; But even if you think you might, you'll most likely be reminded of a thing or two you missed or forgot! Great math app. Would love to see more like this.

### 5/5 — Brilliant!

*2014-03-31*

This is a stunning romp through the fascinating world of numbers, with one of the world's great popularisers of mathematics as a guide. Many superb interactives help unravel the subtleties of the world of numbers. This is not a trivial app for mindless math skills, as so many apps regrettably are, but Instead exposes many advanced mathematical ideas in an accessible way.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2014-03-31, version 1.0.0*

As a 12 year old (well, almost!), I find it almost impossible to find a fun, yet educational app. I am happy to say that I have finally found one! This app helps you discover prime numbers, Fibonacci numbers, the golden ratio, pi and lots more. Get this app, it's brilliant (even if there is the odd crash)!

### 5/5 — Nice one! Nice interface and well done

*2014-03-30, version 1.0.0*

Très bien fait , je vais l'utiliser pour apprendre au enfants.
