### 1/5 — Lost its way

*2024-12-18, version 2.1.7*

This app used to be about bringing neat indie apps to the surface. Now it's about pushing AI garbage, many of which you only get a limited time for free, rather than free or discounted original apps. It's a shame as I found some great apps through this over the years. I got them for free, told friends, who then bought these apps. Now, it's all slop.

### 1/5 — What happened

*2024-12-11, version 2.1.7*

Used to be good, was sold, now it’s junk.

### 1/5 — TL:DR crappy apps begging for fake 5 star reviews.

*2024-12-09*

This used to be a pretty neat app that showed you apps that maybe you hadn’t heard about. They’d be discounted for a day, and the hope was it would drive business to those developers apps. Now, it’s half baked betas that spam the daylights out of you for reviews. Many of the “free offers” don’t exist - and you find out after you’ve downloaded the app and given up personal info. Avoid this app and the trash it promotes like the plague!

### 1/5 — Maybe Krampus, definitely not Santa

*2024-12-06, version 2.1.7*

This app has lost all its magic; holiday or not. Don’t bother. Offerings are mostly half finished betas of crappy AI apps. Notifications don’t work, but you aren’t missing anything. Not worth it. Don’t waste your time.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2024-12-02*

Great resource to discover new apps at solid prices. I download it every year and look forward to what it presents.

### 1/5 — Notifications Not Working

*2024-11-30*

I paid for this app just for notifications and they stopped working weeks ago — just in time for December. Not that the any of the offers have really been worth checking out for the last year or so. AI this and AI that and most of it in a state that any reasonable developer would recognize as a beta version at best. And very few actually free offers anymore.

### 2/5 — Greedy

*2024-11-20, version 2.1.5*

The developer changed the app to feature multiple apps per day, every day of the year, where devs pay to be featured… Previously the app was a curated list of indie apps offering sales during the holiday season, like an advent calendar for apps.

### 2/5 — Quality of apps 👎

*2024-11-15*

Now that they’re offering apps all year, the quality of apps has taken a massive nosedive. If this is any indication of what we’ll see during December, don’t waste your time.

Previously, users could anticipate excellent apps by talented indie designers. This often came with good privacy policies, and IAS was a haven for great apps that were excellent alternatives to mainstream apps which hoarded user data.

We’re scraping the bottom of the barrel with “AI this and that” and obscure apps that, quite frankly, are not very well made - some aren’t even finished. If December doesn’t raise the quality of apps offered, IAS will (and should!) go the way of the dinosaurs. More is not always better. Sometimes it’s just more.

I gave a second ⭐️ simply because this used to be a phenomenal place to find incredible apps. While I still hope December recaptures the magic, the excitement certainly has gone.

### 4/5 — Notifications Stopped Working

*2024-11-06*

I don't know quite how long ago I stopped getting notifications, but I opened the app today after seeing there was an update and there are currently six expired offers showing. The last notification I got was a couple of months ago, at some point in the late summer when there were only sporadic offers. The bell button in the app isn't doing anything anymore and my system settings haven't changed. Obviously the notifications are the entire reason I paid for the app so that's kind of a big issue. Please get this fixed before December

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — All content is paid advertisements - SCAM

*2025-05-27, version 2.2.6*

None of the content in this app is genuine. Only ads. Dishonest.

### 1/5 — Perfect

*2025-05-24, version 2.2.6*

Good app

### 1/5 — Used to be good

*2025-03-25*

When I downloaded this, it was because I was given the premium version as a gift. It was a well designed app, and had some pretty good deals. I didn’t download every app, but I didn’t feel like any of them were scams or downright awful.

Now, they’ve redesigned the app, gotten rid of the premium version (which I don’t really care about I guess but if someone actually paid for that I assume they’d be upset), and all the apps are basically scams. There’s a ton of pseudoscience apps, and overpriced AI garbage.

It’s like they don’t even care about what gets put on their featured list anymore. I could forgive them if they simply pushed out a bad redesign (even if it brought a unique UI into a cheap interface littered with clip-art esque pictures of Santa), but it’s they clearly have lowered their standards and don’t care about their reputation.

I have uninstalled this app after an enjoyable 3 years or so… hate to see it go down this way

### 1/5 — “Free” my @ss

*2025-02-06, version 2.1.8*

Most of the apps ARE not FREE, Free for a month or a year, not the entire Lifetime free whatsoever, sometimes if you are not careful they will charge you for membership

### 1/5 — Gone down hill

*2025-01-20*

Used to be a stellar app… now flooded with bad deals and terrible apps, many on repeat none are unique to this app… quite a departure from years past. Seems the dev has abandoned quality promotions to increase the quantity of apps paying to be promoted on the platform. Sort reviews by most recent and you’ll see how universal this sentiment is.

### 1/5 — You spoiled magnificent app with greediness!

*2025-01-16, version 2.1.5*

Terrible hands turned masterpiece into trashcan..
disappointed

### 1/5 — Mostly just ads

*2025-01-12*

Was good years ago but now it’s primarily ads/sales for the same types of apps. Used to be desirable apps but now it’s either a planner, journal, or AI app with 20 reviews (two real) and extremely sketchy privacy policies. The apps pay to be featured and are still overpriced after, so opening this app is just looking at ads voluntarily.

**Developer response:** We're happy you enjoyed this year's selection!

### 1/5 — Becoming Full-on Scam App

*2025-01-10*

This used to be one of my favorite apps and has led me to many deals and free apps I still enjoy and use regularly. Unfortunately as other recent reviews indicate the continuing slide in quality can no longer be overlooked. Over the last few months an increasing amount of the “deals” offered are simply false advertising with no apparent recourse available. Today was the last straw with a “free” app currently on offer that attempts to charge one thousand dollars when trying to redeem. Many of apps on offer now appear to be low-quality cash grabs, with noticeable basic spelling and grammar errors, placeholder graphics and videos and missing features. I can no longer recommend this app. Steer clear!

### 1/5 — Cumbersome and needs ios 17

*2024-12-26*

Notifications don't show the name of the app and force you to open it to see what the app is (the whole point of notifications should be to make it easier to know if it's something that will interest you), to aggravate the issue, the app dropped support for ios 16 and doesn't display anything when you open it in the old version.

### 1/5 — Nope

*2024-12-24, version 2.1.7*

Not what it used to be at all.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — If you love trying new apps…

*2025-08-24*

This app is so good! They always have new apps to try for the FREE. Most of the ones that I get are free for life and very useful and good like the most popular versions too. Highly recommend!

### 5/5 — Ok

I love it thank you

### 5/5 — Got some good deals

*2025-06-13*
