Wicked pissah!! *2018-07-08, version 4.25.7* When radio was the only option, it was always WFNX that played anything remotely interesting. If B-sides were radio, it would be WFNX. Thank goodness deadair was short lived. As RadioBDC, their streaming app broke when Apple started requiring TLS on app web connections. Now, with reorganization and rebranding to indie617, the app works great and the music stream is fresher and more varied again. I can stream pandora just fine, so I have to conclude it is the app and not my cellular provider. I love listening to the DJs telling me what's new, what's happening in the music scene, and introducing me to local music too. The other apps don't really do that (human still beats robot!). It's also great to have the list of 10 most recently played songs. Can't miss a beat that way! On the technical side, I've never had any problems except I can't figure out how to wake up with Henry Santoro with the alarm clock feature! The app works great- never had any problems with it (except for one related to the quirky electrical wiring in my aged house: if I'm listening on the dock in my kitchen and use the microwave at the same time, the pause button gets mysteriously activated). Sad as this is my favorite app to listen to around the house. ### 1/5 — Won't open *2014-12-25, version 4.25* This app won't open on my iPhone 5s or on any of my friends. I am sad I haven't been able to listen to the amazing radiobdc for the past few months. You know - real people spinning cool tunes on the radio... HOWEVER, that happens hardly ever. The app is prone to dropping the stream, freezing, and outright crashing. I've tried deleting & reinstalling the app; no luck. I reached out to the developer; they essentially blew me off. Even the nice folks at RadioBDC (Hi, Adam12!) tried to help, but nothing fixes the issues. I was so excited when I first found out that RadioBDC was coming. It crashes and hangs often, mostly when moving between an area with wifi coverage and 3G/4G/LTE usage. Also crashes/hangs when using certain bluetooth devices for audio (vehicle sound systems for instance). If you’re using it over wifi only with headphones you’ll probably be fine though. Another annoyance - tiny red or grey text on a black background - totally unreadable, what were you thinking? ### 3/5 — App is weak. Music is amazing. *2013-12-16, version 1.0.5373* I love the music they play at RadioBDC. It's 10 times better than any regular radio station. I listen to the app frequently when I'm on the go like in the car or working around the house, I just wish it had better quality sound. I don't even really need any fancy features but at least make it sound good. For example, pandora has an option where you can listen to better quality music. chances are, if someone is going to go out of their way to listen to the RadioBDC app they're somebody who really appreciates music and they deserve better quality. ### 3/5 — Love it but struggling to get consistent streaming *2012-08-15, version 1.0.5373* After listening to the FNX sign off last month and being depressed and switching to Sirius for a while; I have to say this station is great! I'm SO happy to have the FNX team back, backed up by the power of the Boston Globe. I just cannot get consistent streams that are not interrupted every couple of minutes. My SiriusXM app works perfectly, so I don't believe it is the service (AT&T). Station gets 5 stars but the app is getting only 3 because if the inconsistency. Also the music selection is traditional FNX with the DJs being able to chose their favorites. This is why I listen to radio. So someone can introduce me to new things. Not a computer suggesting things based on what I already own. Great selection of music unless you listen on back-to-back days. Then it gets repetitive. There’s a ton of indie music out there, new and old, and Indie617 has knowledgeable DJs.
