Get rid of it and make data entry quicker. ### 4/5 — Very good time tracker *2014-11-06, version 2.3.8* I have been using this, along with the desktop version for about 4 years. It does a great job keeping track of time and billing of my clients for iOS projects. ### 4/5 — A great all-around app! *2012-10-26, version 2.3.3* iOS 6 brought a few hiccups to this app, but now that they have been resolved in this new release, I'm happy to report that the app is once again a pleasure to use. ### 3/5 — The good and the bad *2012-09-23, version 2.3.2* This is a well designed app and I like to make it a mainstay in our business. Needs small tweaks. *2012-04-18, version 2.3.2* This app does a FANTASTIC job keeping up with my time spent with various clients and activities. I started using it a couple of days ago, and continued to use another. The only drawback I see so far is the lack of " reports". Other project tracking type apps I have used, allow for a quick report of each project or client. Without this addition, to use this app, I would have to deal with each bit of data in this app, then another. With this addition, it would be a 5 star app that I would pay 5 times higher price for. ### 3/5 — Good but needs polish *2011-06-21, version 2.3.1* Seems to do the job. Crashed several times after first install when attempting to create clients, but the clients were still created. Not all my clients/projects are money-based but I still like to keep track of the time, so it would be nice to hide dollar amounts on a per client or project basis. Would like a set of bar graphs showing how I divided up my time among projects in a given day/week/month. ### 3/5 — good app but *2011-02-16, version 2.2* no idea why it doesnt deal with start and stop times ....makes it rather unusable and for some bizarre reason it since the last update. it now needs the latest os ???? who can say why ! basically good so long as start times not needed. Unfortunately for me they are nearly always needed, which makes this one useless ### 3/5 — Best of the Options but corrupts data *2010-06-13, version 0* I've been using InerTrak since its origins as a Palm App. I like its multiple projects and clear on/off interface. The export to a PC also works well. No web service is required to record time which for me is a deal breaker on other options. Unfortunately there remains a latent bug that corrupts the time database. A day will get deleted and another days time repeated instead. I've made several attempts to isolate potential odd scenarios that result in this corruption (midnight rollover, deletion of a day and restart) to no avail. Initially the developer responded and gave me clear instructions on clearing the local database. That got me restarted but didn't address the underlying problem. The last two times I've reported it to the developer I've gotten no response. The bug remains... ### 4/5 — Time managent - cross platform *2010-04-25, version 0* Not sure why nobody reviewed this one yet. It's a highly useable and very stable time tracking app offering all the necssary features to keep track of the hours worked for different clients projects. Also available are desktop clients for Mac and Win with easy wireless sync using Bonjour service over Wifi. Desktop adds extensive report modules and invoicing. I've been using inertrak for over a year now and am more than happy with it. ### 4/5 — OS problem *2010-03-30, version 0* The app is well designed, functional and easy to understand. But there is a problem which I think has to do with the OS 3.1 upgrade: after almost every entry on my 3G the app closes and sends me back to the main screen and i am yet to figure out why. ### 4/5 — Great way to track time spent on projects when out of the office *2010-01-03, version 0* Highly recommended and impressed on how easy it is to use. As a consultant, I use it all the time. Room for improvement - 1. Make timer icon clearer when in logging mode, 2. When required to enter email addresses interface with contacts in iPhone address book, 3. The ability to enter individual project budget costs. ### 4/5 — Thumbs Up!! *2009-12-30, version 0* I was looking for software that kept my time for me to bill clients the time I worked on a project. Many to choose from on this great APP Store so I decided to read & read then read some more. I decided to spend the $20 beans & I'm very happy so far with my purchase. The developer explains to you what this product is for & what's not meant to do. So read carefully some of the ifi reviews talk about what they were looking for when it stated how it was not meant to do that. So far I am very pleased since I am a person that is very picky on software abilities this aside from Its GUI (that should be considerd for an update) works great. I will test this further & post again if posible. Might even get it Zaribars appoved!!! Buy it it's worth the $20.00 (Update) it's close to perfect, all it needs is the ability to send an invoice via email & I'll fund a way to give it 10 more stars. ### 2/5 — Good program, but... *2009-09-29, version 0* This program is great and really close to being perfect, but has what I consider a major flaw. It does not keep track of what time you've clocked in and out. Works great for keeping track of how much time you've worked and the organizational abilities are fantastic, but if you also have too keep track of when you punched in and when you punched out you're out of luck. The csv email is not very intuitive as well. It sends the script in the body of the email instead of as an attachment. Then you have to copy it into an excell spread sheet which on my computer also embeds a bunch of random code as well. For because of both of these flaws I switched to hours tracker, which is actually cheaper and allows me to keep track of when I punch in and out and sends the csv files as attached documents that open in excell complicated workflow. I am keeping this program on my iphone in hopes that on a future update these flaws will be fixed because I do like all the other aspects of the app a lot. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Has developer abandoned this? *2025-04-06, version 2.3.12* This “was” a great app, but no longer works in iOS18. Crashes when attempting to start it. Developer does not answer emails. I’ve used their software for years and liked it, but now it’s not working and I can’t get help. I think the developer is no longer supporting these products, too bad. ### 1/5 — Inertrak *2013-11-18, version 2.3.4* I have just upgraded the iPad Air, and this will not now display properly. Used on iPhone for a long time with few issues. Installed to iPad today, terminates after EVERY new client added It's so inconvenient (i was going to say rubbish) that I am unable to proceed further with this app on the iPad (which is for work, the iPhone is personal) ### 1/5 — Poor UI and buggy *2011-07-15, version 2.3.1* This app has potential, but usability on the iPad is simply atrocious. Very poorly implemented UI, and have noticed quite a few obvious bugs (particularly with respect to editing time). Have tried on two separate iPads and experienced crashes also. Worse of all, none of my support emails were ever answered... not good PR. Frankly suprised by the good ratings... I had hoped I was missing something but alas I'm not. ### 1/5 — Stops working *2011-04-01, version 2.3* Hello there, I paid the fee and thought I had something to capture my working hours and back them up on my computer. Hellas, the program stopped working and I can not use edit nor export nor synchronize nor nothing else then stop and start times. I downloaded the computer version for backing up, nothing. I send them an e-mail, giving them confirmation that my payment was done, as seen in the purchase history, and gave a brief description but not a single reply !!! Also, I wonder what makes them have so many different names for the same application on the iTune-Store... very suspicious. Apple store tells me that I can not ask for a refund, as it is not allowed in the policy. Not a good impression folks and I shall stay away from payable items. Bernie ### 1/5 — Huge disappointment after years of good experience with Palm version *2011-01-20, version 2.0* I used the Inertron PicoTrak, the app for the Palm OS, for many years. It was simple to use, exported directly to a csv file so that I could enter my timesheets. It did everything I needed, but the Palm is not long for this world, and when I was given an Ipod touch, I was pleased to find that Inertron offered an app called InerTrak. I am no longer pleased. In fact, I'm pissed. The app is crippleware. You can't do many things that you could with the Palm app - like export a CSV file for a defined range of dates. If you want to do that you have to buy their $45 Windows desktop program. Good luck with that, their merchant site is so lame it won't load most of the time. The synchronization with the paid desktop version is a textbook case of lame. The desktop and the iPhone/iPod have to be on the same wireless network. If your desktop is wired and not wireless, tough. There is an option for emailing the results to you. I'll reproduce the entire manual text explaining this feature: "There are various options that let you control the format of and what goes into the email." The rest of the support and documentation is equally lame. I just downloaded version 2.0 from the Apple App store, while unlike Inertron informs me when new versions are available. The description of what's new leaves much to be desired; 3 lines in all. The Palm version allowed you to do things like delete dates that have already been billed, delete completed projects, or delete entries with less than one minute of time. Iphone version: nope. The button to start and stop the timer is way too small and most of the time you open the project summary instead. In the Palm version, when you have a project timer running, whenever you open the app, it sends you to that project. Iphone version: Nope. You have to page down to the project every time. If you are using this app for professional purposes, you build up long lists of clients and projects, and this becomes a major PITA. In summary, the developer took a great Palm app, crippled it, and sold it to me again for $4.99. Now he sells it for $1.99, no doubt because sales are plummeting. There is a reason. He also took a long-term very satisfied customer and turned him into a most unhappy customer. I'm going to search for something better. That isn't a very high bar. ### 1/5 — InerTrak *2009-10-06, version 0* Same problem. Quits when editing ie: adding notes to an entry. It's a shame never had problems before and have purchased other time keeping apps. This is (was) the best for me. Sort it guys. ### 1/5 — Downgraded from 5 to 1 star *2009-01-11, version 0* Updated: I had this a month. Thought it was great. Used it all day keeping track of my times for billing There was an update. With it it deleted all my data Waste of space and time if a developer can't work out how to update an app without warning you your data will be destroyed! Update: Has added option to change currency Original 5star So far this app is just what I was after. One small grip. So many American developers forget we use different currencies in the rest of the world. Simple fix, drop the $ sign in the rate field. ### 1/5 — Frustration *2008-10-07, version 0* I think this is the best time tracking software for the iphone by far but it has crashed on a number of occasions and caused me to do exactly what the software should save me doing - Having to go back over weeks of work trying to remember what I did when for who. It was working till today but now will not let me input a rate of charge for any of my clients - I've had enough, I'm bailing out of it, and it's not cheap either. I've lost £11 for the software and all the time I've missed charging because of it! ### 2/5 — New UI not so good *2011-01-18, version 2.0* This was a favorite app for a long time and was looking forward to the latest update. Seems the UI has taken a step backward and will now look for a replacement. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Awesome tool with awesome support *2012-10-19, version 2.3.3* InerTrak is an amazingly useful app that I use all day long in my consulting business. It is worth every penny and is easily the most usable and used app on my iPhone. Beyond the great features, the support from InerTron software is exceptional. I encountered a rather obscure bug which I emailed InerTron about. Within an hour I received an email reply and we began a discussion about the bug. InerTron could never reproduce the bug on their end, but that didn't stop them from researching the code until they found a potential defect which they immediately worked to fix. I highly recommend this iPhone app as well as the desktop based version available on their website. Very easy to use for the busy worker. Just hit the stopwatch when you start, add any expenses as you go, then hit the stopwatch when you leave. Finish by looking up summery and it's all done for you labour, materials and total bill I have used this app for a year now and would be lost without it ### 5/5 — Best of the Best *2011-04-26, version 2.3.1* I run a small business and need to track my hours with a quick and easy to use app. Having tried and been disappointed with many that are unnecessarily difficult this one seems to fit the bill. It's quick to get the timer running and you get full access to data for later editing. The associated desktop app (+$45) makes this app a breeze to use. Only drawback for me so far is no multiple timers on the phone app (but you can on the desktop)! Doesn't quite make sense. I'm going to petition for this inclusion in a later update. ### 5/5 — Priceless *2011-02-28, version 2.2* I can't fault this app. It works well for me, I use it every day and its paid for itself many times over by allowing me to record work that otherwise I wouldn't have been able to bill. Hasn't been an upgrade while I've been using it so haven't run into a data loss problem yet but will watch out for it. Thanks to other reviewers for the heads up. ### 5/5 — Definitely worth it! *2011-02-27, version 2.2* I'm a freelance sound editor and mixer and this app is perfect for keeping track of multiple tv shows, sessions, and clients at the same time. It's great if you work on several projects in one day where you're switching back and forth and need to keep an accurate record of time. Just a few clicks and you're on to the next project. No more carrying around a notepad. ### 5/5 — Vital for anyone who bills time *2011-02-02, version 2.1* Two years on I thought I would update my review. I am self employed and at any one time have up to 10 client jobs on the go at various stages. Without InerTrak it would be near impossible to keep up with time spent on each job. What I love is the simplicity of the app and the speed at which new client data and managing that data can be added. There are other similar apps I have tried, some more expensive and a good deal more complicated, sure they may have more features, but I find myself coming back to InerTrak because if I cannot enter info quickly I tend not to use it. I used to use a whiteboard on the wall to track all my jobs, InerTrak is a whiteboard in my hand. Without compromising it's simplicity, I would like to see a couple of new features. 1. The ability to access the iPhone or iPad contact list to add new client names would be good. 2. A field for adding job numbers or customer order numbers. All in all, the best time tracker I've seen. The only problem using it - is remembering to use it. But the developers cannot help with that! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ When I moved from Palm to iPhone I wondered if I would find an alternative to the fine time management software i had. Inertrak is better than I had hoped for. Data entry and use is quick and easy, looks good and makes tracking my time on a job very efficient. One suggestion for improvement would be the ability to change the hourly rate within the same project to allow billing jobs where one man might work on a project one day and the next day might employ two men. A great product, best I have seen and well worth the price. ### 5/5 — Clean and good support from Programmer *2010-01-19, version 0* First off, you'll notice that all of the "bad" reviews come from people who didn't even try the software. And as said before... if you have a job where you need to keep track of billable hours from multiple clients with multiple projects, then you have no place giving negative feedback to a piece of software that's $20. Keep in mind most self employed individuals own software like quickbooks that start at $199 That being said. This software does exactly what I need it to do. very simple 1 click start/stop that tallies all of the hours for a single day. by the end of the week I can see all of my daily entries for each project. If I missed a day, or forgot to start the timer when I started, I can go back and edit or add an entry. You have the ability to check off which entries you have or have not billed for, and leave notes for each one. While it is possible to assign $ rates per client... feature that is not there but I wrote the develper asking about was the ability to give progressive rates. For example anything over 8 hours is billed at 1.5 the base rate. This would not be difficult to do manually since each day is still kept as a seperate entry (hence me not docking the app for it) But the other positive to this was the programmer gave an immediate response to my questions and a response to this feature request. He obviously did not give a definitive statement about the feature request as is the case with any software develpment, but none the less I was impressed that my questions where answered in just a few hours from my email being sent.
